Are the Indians really going to start the season with a payroll less than 100M and Lindor still on the team? How does that make any sense?
Mark P
11:13
Remember, the Tribe still plans to contend for a World Series in 2020.  Trading Lindor does a lot to hurt that plan, whereas with the Kluber trade, Kluber didn't really help at all in 2019.  Also in moving Kluber, they managed to unload a lot of salary, thus lessening their "need" to trade Lindor.

Is it larry Walker's time?
Mark P
11:14
I really hope so.  Walker should've been elected to the HOF years ago.
Matt Carpenter
11:14
Will the cardinals be able to unload me in a trade... do they want to?
Mark P
11:15
Carpenter has a no-trade clause, which further complicates the Cardinals' efforts in trading a guy who is expensive, 34 years old, and is coming off a rough year.
11:16
I can't a lot of teams lining up to make notable offers for Carpenter.  My guess is that STL would probably prefer to deal Carpenter if they could, but that'd be hard to manage

Is Kingery the Starting 3B in Philly on Opening Day? Alec Bohm is being highly touted but seems a bit young to actually "break camp with the team"......seems like, at a minimum....Service Time will affect his arrival.
Mark P
11:18
Kingery looks like the best guess for 3B, but don't forget, the Phillies signed him to a pre-career extension to bypass the whole service time debate.  It wouldn't be a shock if they did the same thing with Bohm, if they're really high on him
Mariners Strategy
11:18
Do you agree with Mariners strategy?  Seems like they passed on a lot of young talent.   Would they have enough to pursue Chris Archer and save their offseason?
Mark P
11:19
I don't think acquiring Chris Archer (who has been shaky at best over the last two seasons) would "save" much of anything.

I'm surprised by the Dodgers lack of willingness to get players to ensure a world series.
Mark P
11:21
No such thing as "ensuring" a World Series.
Kyle
11:21
Do you ever see the marlins getting serious again? Every time the develop a good player they trade them for prospects that may never pan out. Its just hard cheering for a team that doesn't want to compete
Mark P
11:22
In fairness, we don't know how things will differ in Miami under the Jeter regime.
Donaldson
11:23
Odds that the Twins regret signing me?  Not that I am not a good player, bit I go down with a knee injury and the Twins get nothing.
Mark P
11:25
I mean, any big signing could be for naught in the case of injury.  There's certainly risk in a big commitment to an older player like Donaldson, but also room for lots of upside if he keeps up his 2019 form for at least a couple more years

11:26
Dont forget all new curb your enthusiasm tonight!!! Lol
Mark P
11:26
Oh man, I actually did forget Curb's new season was starting tonight.  Thanks for the reminder!

Do you see another Will Wilson-esque trade happening to facilitate a trade/signing?
Mark P
11:28
Will Wilson, btw, was the prospect the Giants acquired from the Angels along with Zack Cozart.

Such deals depend on the willingness of a rebuilding team to spend extra money on "buying a prospect."  The Giants thought enough of Wilson to make the investment, but other clubs might not feel the same way about other prospects on offer.
Jo Adell
11:29
when should I expect to play in the Angles outfield next to Mike Trout?  Will I even if the angels don’t have pitching?  Many balls could be flying over our head every game...
Mark P
11:29
Adell will be in Anaheim by July at the latest, barring injury
Mr Redlegs
11:30
Who do you have in today's NFL games?
Mark P
11:31
I'm a Green Bay fan, but I'm afraid the 49ers are just too good.  In the AFC game, it's almost a coin flip of whether Mahomes or Henry will end up carrying their team more....I'll take KC by a thin margin
Jays CF
11:32
I hear there is a great CFer available for the Jays. Won't cost a lot either. Kevin Pillar.
Mark P
11:32
.287 OBP, minus numbers in both DRS and UZR/150....not my definition of "great"
Rangers fan
11:33
What is your opinion on the Rangers offseason so far.  Pitching looks good but need a 1st baseman. Realistically.  How will Kluber pitch this season?
Mark P
11:34
Texas has done a good job of beefing up their pitching staff, which I think was their biggest issue.  If Kluber pitches anywhere close to how he threw before 2019, that's a big help.
OOQ
11:35
What would the A's need to pry Biggio away form the Jay?
Mark P
11:36
"Pry" is the right word, since Toronto surely has a huge asking price for Biggio.
Rox need a C

Do they even realize this?
Mark P
11:37
They seem a lot higher on Tony Wolters than most

Will castellanos resign with the Cubs or elsewhere?
Mark P
11:39
I highly doubt he ends up with the Cubs, unless Chicago is able to move salary in another trade

Any chance the braves swing a trade for sano from the twins now that they have donaldson
Mark P
11:40
Sano just got a contract extension, I doubt he's going anywhere in the near future
Dice Clay
11:41
Everybody always mentions Acuna’s team friendly contract that makes him so valuable. But how come nobody seems to talk about Albies super team friendly deal, which makes him very valuable as well?
Mark P
11:42
There was plenty of discussion about the Albies extension before the Acuna extension hit soon thereafter, which took up even more discussion
Mark W
11:42
Do the Nationals have 1 more move up their sleeve? Maybe a trade for a bat/3b?
