According to multiple reports, Fiers openly told his new teammates and coaches about the Astros' sign-stealing, and when his new organizations complained to the league, there was no response.  Fiers finally felt going on record publicly was necessary.

I don't blame Fiers at all, and think it took some guts to go public.  He surely knew he'd face criticism, be called a "rat," etc. but he was willing to take the heat.

No Zelda?  That's criminal.  The original and the Super NES editions are both fantastic.
Mark P

It's a weird pop culture blind spot for me.  I had an NES and Super NES growing up, played tons of games, but never anything Zelda.

Prediction for luxury tax change(s) with a new CBA in 2022? I'd like to see a salary floor so that teams actually try to be competitive, and a luxury tax bump would certainly favor the big market spenders if it went to say $225 million.
Mark P
11:01
Salary floor would be a must for me.  Having a floor would actually help richer teams avoid a luxury tax, in some cases.  Imagine if a salary floor was in place now and a team needed to spend an extra $10MM to meet the threshold.  They could call up, say, the Cubs and take Chatwood off their hands, and that helps Chicago's tax issues.

Why is MLB taking so long to release the 2018 RedSox cheating details?
Mark P
11:03
As I wrote earlier tonight, it took two months between the Athletic's report about the Astros and the conclusion of the league's investigation.  It hasn't yet been two months since the Athletic's Red Sox piece, so it hasn't been quite "so long" just yet

Last year on the NY nightly baseball show, two of the NY writers said they'd take Rosario over Gleyber, and Rosario was ranked higher than Gleyber as a prospect. But that's been blown out of the water, and Rosario has zero hits this spring. Don't the Mets need a real SS if they want to win?
Mark P
11:04
Obligatory "Amed Rosario is still only 24 years old" comment.  Way too soon to consider him any sort of a bust, especially not when he had a good year in 2019

Why did my team's owner say we will win 94 or more games this year?
Mark P
11:05
He is a very optimistic person?
Very very optimistic?

If the Mets don’t extend Syndergaard really soon, they have to start thinking about trading him bc he’ll want to hit the open market. Angels give up Adell for him?
Mark P
11:06
No way the Angels deal Adell for two seasons of Thor

I will make a major stunner before opening day due to my OF glut.  True?
Mark P
11:07
(Dick Williams = Reds president of baseball operations)

I don't know about "major stunner" but a trade of some kind wouldn't be a surprise

Do you see or understand the direction the Cubs are trying to go in, Because I don't?
Mark P
11:10
Here's the thing: the Cubs have a lot of talent on this roster.  If they say that at the start of the offseason, and follow up with "we'll do our due diligence on possible moves, of course, but overall we think we can contend with the team we have right now with a bit more luck next season," I don't think Chicago fans would be nearly as annoyed.

But instead, Theo and company have unofficially promised big changes for two straight offseasons now, and yet little has been done (aside from Ross replacing Maddon).  Why create all the consternation amongst the fanbase and even within your own clubhouse for no reason?  And even if they were planning bigger moves and nothing ended up happening, that's still no reason to raise expectations at the start of every winter.

Rant over!
Will Myers
11:12
Do you foresee any teams that would want me before camp breaks? Or do I need to keep hitting homeruns like I did today?
Mark P
11:13
Myers has been an average-at-best hitter for the last three seasons, so it'll take more than a big spring to increase his trade value.

have you seen that vid of trout putting a golf ball into orbit?
Mark P

Just saw it a moment ago, actually.  That guy hogs all the sports talent!

Mel Allen?

Mel was before my time as an actual announcer, but he did a great job on This Week In Baseball

Casey Mize for Jo Adell...who says no?
Mark P
11:16
Angels.  Adell can contribute as soon as this year, whereas Mize is still a couple of years ago.  Besides, most teams would rather have a star everyday player than a star pitcher

Does Acuña back up his 50/50 season quote?
Mark P
11:19
That would be very cool to see him make a real run at it

Do you think teams with multiple years of excessive injury woes are just snake bitten, or does some blame need to fall on the team’s trainers and medical staff?
Mark P
11:20
There's certainly some bad luck involved, but when a team is just crushed by injuries year after year, there's something clearly wrong on the preparation/treatment side of things
Nats, Nats, Nats, Wooooo
11:21
Are the Lerners going to leave Rizzo in lame duck status all season long?
Mark P
11:22
I would expect an extension will get done pretty soon.  If I recall correctly, Rizzo's last deal didn't get announced until after Opening Day, so I don't think there's any concern
11:24
We've hit the two-hour mark, so let's wrap things up.  Thanks for all of tonight's questions!
