Rushmore isn't on your Mt. Rushmore?
Mark P

I liked Rushmore, but haven't rewatched since I first saw the movie some 20-odd years ago

Do you think we get an update from the MLB on their 2020 plan this week? I think it makes sense seeing the ratings from the NFL draft.
Mark P
10:17
Makes sense indeed, though even in a sports-starved viewing environment, I wouldn't expect too much a ratings bump for the MLB draft.  The big draw of the NFL and NBA drafts is that fans are already familiar with many of the top prospects due to college football and basketball, whereas NCAA baseball has a far lower profile.

How is George Springer out of Toronto's price range? No real money on the books, loads of min contracts, and contrary to popular belief they do spend.
Mark P

I guess it depends, but the Jays are limited by the additional factor of corporate ownership.  If Rogers takes an overall revenue hit, it will likely limit spending in all departments, including the Blue Jays' payroll.

This isn't to say that the Jays can't or won't potentially spend.  Even looking at last winter, I didn't think they'd splurge on someone like Ryu, and was proven wrong

Who is more likely to re-sign with the Yankees?

James Paxton (33.3% | 27 votes)

Starting to feel like my life is just a slap on the wrist. Any way next season I’m managing the Red Sox again?
Mark P
10:26
A Cora return is probably more unlikely than likely, but not by a ton, in my view.  I'd say it's maybe 60-40 that the Red Sox don't bring him back.

What teams have spring training in Florida?
Mark P
Milwaukee Packers
10:29
What were the Packers doing in the NFL draft? Rebuild?
Mark P

I can't help but answer this one football question, since I'm a Packers fan.

Everything Green Bay did during the draft was a head-scratcher.  I don't necessarily disagree that the team might not actually be as close to a Super Bowl as last year's results indicated, but man, why not just stick to upgrading the defense?  Or add at least one receiver?

What are the pros/cons of potentially resuming the season from a certain date. Ex.) Say they determine a June 15 start date, teams begin their schedule with the games originally planned for that date and all games June 14 and before are cancelled?
Mark P
10:33
Rather than resume the original 2020 schedule, I'd imagine an entirely new schedule would have to be drawn up.  Especially if they're adopting ideas like a Florida/Arizona split schedule, or regular doubleheaders, etc.

With 15 teams in Florida and 15 in Arizona how do they work out the uneven 15/15 in each state?
Mark P
10:34
This could be why Texas has also been rumored to be involved as a host state for games.  On paper, you could have the 10 West division teams in Arizona, the 10 Central teams in Texas, and the 10 East teams in Florida

Time to wrap things up for the evening.  Thanks so much for everyone's questions, and for your continued support of MLBTR.  I'll be back next weekend with another chat, for more hot takes on 22-year-old Wes Anderson movies!
