Sadly, no.
I am also not Mark Fidrych.  Or Mark McGwire.

Is Aaron Sanchez donezo?
Mark P
7:58
We haven't heard anything about Sanchez's status in a while, and given the usual timeline for shoulder capsule surgery, he is likely to miss all of the 2020 even if he signed with someone right now.

He's still too young to be written off, but the future is very uncertain for him at the moment

How much does the shortened season help the angels? We now have ohtani and canning back and don’t have to worry too much about durability
Mark P
8:01
Given the Angels' long injured list over the last few years, they always have to worry about durability.  But in general, you're correct --- I like their chances of reaching the postseason over 60 games more than I did their chances over 162 games

Will the Canadian government allow MLB games to be played in the Rodgers Centre ?
Mark P
8:02
The Jays have gotten the green light to train at Rogers Centre, and I think a deal will eventually be worked out for regular season action as well
8:03
I could see a scenario where the visiting team is immediately shuttled from the airport to the Rogers Centre's hotel (which is built into the facility), and thus kept within the "bubble" at all times
Muneori Kawasaki
8:04
I am jealous you got to enjoy this guy in TOR. What an awesome personality for the game, miss you Kawa!
Mark P
8:04
I was actually at the game where Kawaski hit his only career homer.  Great moment!

Do you see the abbreviated summer camp as favouring the pitchers or the hitters?  Should we expect the first few games to be 2-1 or 10-9?
Mark P
8:05
Pitchers generally need more time to ramp up than position players, so I'd expect the hitters to have the early edge
The Bird
8:06
The Bird was the man!
Mark P
8:06
I have long held that the best Sports Illustrated cover of all time was that shot of Fidrych and Big Bird
Gerry T Winright

What do you think the chances of Tigers win 30 games this year are
Mark P
8:08
I mean, anything can happen in a shortened season....but I don't expect the Tigers to be very good.

What do you think the giants could get if they trade mike Yaz?
Mark P
8:08
Probably not much, given his age and lack of a MLB track record beyond last season
Austin

Any word on if Haniger is healthy?
Mark P
8:10
He was put on the 60-day injured list last week, so the Mariners still aren't sure when he'll be back ready to train.
Doesn't mean Haniger won't play some time this season, but it's very up in the air
Puig
8:11
How am I not signed yet? Camps are up and running I need to meet my new teammates!
Mark P
8:12
I wonder when/if we'll see any sort of flurry of signings, but if there is one, I'd guess it doesn't happen until closer to Opening Day.  Right now, teams are just trying to get settled, figure out where everyone is at, and it'll take a while before specific roster needs are addressed
Soto vs Alvarez
8:14
Better building block, Yordan or Juan Soto?
Mark P
8:14
I'd say Soto, who offers something on defense
So sure?
8:14
Last couple chats MLBTR has said there's a zero chance a player hits .400 this year. Votto, Altuve, Cabrera, McCutchen, and Pujols have all accomplished it over a 60-game span. So, like the name says?
Mark P
8:14
I mean, it's not completely out of the question, but it's quite unlikely.
Favorite Old Timer
8:15
Who is your favorite player that you’ve read about but have seen seen play live?
Mark P
8:16
I'll assume this means "never" seen play live.  Really, the list is endless......Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Cool Papa Bell, Walter Johnson, Satchel Paige, Stan Musial, etc.
Derek Jeter
8:17
Will the Indians change their name?
Mark P
8:17
I think they will.  They've been moving quietly in that direction over the last few years with the change in logo.
Barry Bonds
8:18
Shouldn’t the MVP be named after the guy who’s won it the most?
Mark P
8:18
Robinson is the only player who won both the AL and NL MVP Awards.  Also, more practically, baseball isn't naming anything after Barry Bonds.

Russell Martin
8:21
Any word on Martin? I know Justin Turner publically said he wants Russ back. Plus with the 3 man taxi squad requiring a catcher, I make some sense. I also play the infield and can pitch in blowouts
Mark P
8:22
We haven't heard about Martin since prior to the shutdown, so it isn't known if he is still actively pursuing another contract and (if so) what teams could be interested
In theory, you're right, his versatility gives him an added boost over other catchers.  Like I said earlier, it might not be until later in camp that teams start to really seek out free agents to fill holes
Carlos Delgado
8:23
Did he stay on HOF ballot? Deserves better than one and done (same w/ Johan)
