Delgado was a one-and-done on the ballot, as he had the bad luck of becoming eligible when there was a major backlog of great players.
8:24
I'm not sure Delgado was a HOFer in my view, but he at least deserved a bit more of a look than a single year

Do you think the lack of a minor league season will hurt me or my teammates development?
Mark P
8:25
It certainly can't help.  The canceled minor league season creates all sorts of particular headaches for a rebuilding team like Baltimore that is so counting on its younger players.
Matt
8:26
If a Team has to play home Games in another city should Orlando or city with Dome and only NFL Team?
Mark P
8:27
It would have to be a city with a baseball facility that can quickly be brought up to MLB readiness.  Not a long list of cities that fit the bill.
World Series
8:29
Which two teams make it to the end?
Mark P
8:30
Like I said earlier, anything can happened in a shortened season.

My prediction: one of the two WS teams is a big favorite that everyone had on their radar before the season.  The second WS team is a total surprise.
Springfield Isotopes

We can host a team!
Mark P
8:31
I guess players no longer have to worry about being buried in a shower of pretzels, since there won't be any fans in attendance to toss the pretzels.  Win win!

What happens if Trout opts out this year?
Mark P
8:33
It would an entirely justifiable decision on Trout's part, as it would for any player who decides to opt out under these circumstances.  Obviously Trout not participating would generate major headlines but I don't think it would lead to, say, the league as a whole rethinking whether or not to proceed with the 2020 season
JT Realmuto
8:36
Do i exceed $150M this offseason?
Mark P
8:37
No.  Realmuto wasn't going to get that kind of a contract even before the pandemic threw everything out of whack
King Kelly

Are any teams hurting badly enough financially to make deals purely for financial reasons?  Like packaging an otherwise-untouchable prospect to get money off the books?  I know this is done even in normal times, but are teams desperate enough to go even further?
Mark P
8:39
We'll have to wait and see, since it might not be until the offseason that we see the full breadth of how teams will be impacted financially.  In theory, a top prospect (and the cost-control attached) would be even more of an asset to such a financially struggling team, but if the straits are dire enough, who knows
Grayson

3 years from now will we be in the midst of a totally normal baseball season?
Mark P
8:40
We can only hope so
Philly A's Fan
8:41
Speaking of straits that are dire, do you have a favorite song by them?
Mark P
8:41
Big fan of "Romeo & Juliet"
Jon
8:41
Is the idea of fans going to games this year still potentially up to the respective Cities/Counties/States that the teams play in?
Mark P
8:42
I believe so, though right now, I highly doubt we'll see fans anywhere this season
Wrek
8:42
what song would you have for walk up music? Or walk out music as a closer?
Mark P
8:43
Partyman, by Prince
The North
8:43
The East has 8 competitive teams in this 60 game format. Central 7, West 6. East will be the most competitive. Thoughts?
Mark P
8:44
That assumes teams will generally be what they were last season, and once again, ANYTHING could happen in a 60-game schedule.  I don't expect, say, the Dodgers to struggle to a sub-.500 record, but it could certainly happen.
Big John
8:45
Who on earth can the Mariners trade Dee Gordon to?
Mark P
8:45
I don't see any takers
Evan White
8:46
Am I being slept on?
Mark P
8:47
The fact that Seattle already gave White an extension gave him more notoriety than a lot of other top-100 prospects, if we're talking pure publicity.

But overall, I think there's plenty of optimism about White's future as at least a big league regular, and maybe a star.
Joey
8:49
The A’s just traded a speedster Jorge Mateo. They’d take Dee
Mark P
8:50
Gordon comes with a much bigger salary, and he hasn't been very good the last few seasons
Tommy Edman
8:50
Do I stick as the everyday third basemen for the cards?
Mark P
8:51
If not Edman, Carpenter would be moved back, though I think he's more suited for first base or a DH spot by this point in his career.  Edman is another player whose versatility is an asset, as the Cardinals can shift him around the diamond to some extent and fill a lot of holes
Mark A.
8:52
There is a proposal to put big screens through out Dodger Stadium parking lots to allow fan participation. They would stay in their cars and react accordingly. What do you think?
Mark P
8:53
That's a funny idea, I enjoy that.

Hey L.A. fans, ever wanted to attend a Dodger game with all of the parking/traffic/leaving the stadium hassles but WITHOUT seeing any live baseball?  Here's your chance!
Kevin
8:54
I know everyone is happy baseball is back, but doesn’t the fact that the owners and players couldn’t come to an agreement mean they’re still not on good terms? And that it could mean more tension and a possible strike down the line?
Mark P
8:54
At this point, I'd be shocked if there wasn't a work stoppage in 2021 or 2022.  Hopefully the owners and players see this season as a wakeup call and they get serious about finding common ground on the next CBA and other issues facing the game.  One can hope.

Mark Trumbo could he be looked at for a replacement for Freddy or maybe sign Puig for power bat and use Markakis or Duvall full time at first ?
Mark P
8:56
We haven't heard much about Trumbo since last November, so I don't know if he's even still pursuing another contract, still training, etc.

If he's close to playing shape, I could see Atlanta or another team giving him a call.  But it should be noted, we also don't know if Freeman will end up missing enough regular season time that a replacement is even necessary
