Ugh, let's hope that doesn't happen
Cut Dead Time
9:19
The most effective way to cut dead time out of games is the 20-second clock.  The average time between pitches is 23 seconds, and the average nine-inning game contains about 300 pitches.  That's 15 minutes , in three-second increments.

And make the hitters get in the box promptly and stay there.  If the pitcher takes too long, call a ball.  If the hitter takes too long or steps out excessively, call a strike.

I'd be all for this

Should marlins man get a cardboard cut out?
Mark P
9:21
Isn't Marlins Man a pretty wealthy guy?  I'm surprised he hasn't arranged to have a cut-out of himself in every ballpark.
Derek Dietrich
9:22
Will I get an opportunity with the Cubs soon?
Mark P
9:22
It might take an injury or something to create an opening for Dietrich, since the Cubs already have a decent amount of depth at his positions

Regardless of who the Mets may be sold to, do you see the new owners opening the bank this offseason to try and make an impact with fans?
Mark P
9:25
No easier way to win over Mets supporters than by raising the payroll.  I mean it would be hard for a new owner to say "oh, I can't spend due to the economic uncertainty around the sport.....um, forget that $2 billion I just dropped to buy the team."

Thank you for answering. I’ve been asking questions here since 2009 and never get a response. Mark Polishuk = Goat

I recently shaved off my beard so I can no longer be compared to a goat, but you're welcome!

Jays should be 3-0 to start the season. What happened?
Mark P
9:27
Given the Blue Jays' record in Tampa over the years, I'm surprised they even won one

Will there be a trade in the next 7 days?
Mark P
9:28
Any kind of trade whatsoever, even a minor league deal?  Sure.

I need pitching. What happend what should I do. Hair on fire. What a lineup though

Bartolo Colon!

Why did you shave off your beard?
Mark P
9:30
Just got tired of having one, plus it was getting itchy.
DH
9:30
Last year, AL teams (with the DH) averaged 4.88 runs per game; NL teams (with no DH) aqveraged 4.77 runs per game.  Disparities in batting average and slugging percentage were similarly small.  If pitchers can hit, apparently, neither can the guys who are in the lineup instead.  Why are we doing this for a tenth of a run per team per game?
Mark P
9:31
I think it might be less about generating more offense at this point than it is for creating opportunities for defensively-challenged players (from an MLBPA perspective) and cutting down the threat of a pitcher getting hurt while batting (from a front office perspective)

When will Madrigal be called up to White Sox?  Is it only service time issue.
Mark P
9:35
Madrigal might not be up the exact moment his service time control clock is extended for another season, but probably not too long beyond that.  Then again, in a world where Leury Garcia is hitting two homers in a game, the Sox are set at second base!
9:36
Let's call it a night, thanks for everyone's questions!  Next weekend's chat will be taking place in the morning, so keep that coffee and orange juice ready.
