Can you help explain this to me......Over the past 10 years the Nats have one of the best regular season records in all of baseball, and they are the reigning World Series Champs. How is Mike Rizzo currently a lame duck GM?!

As many have noted over the years, Nationals ownership has a strange attitude towards giving security to managers, and I guess this might extend upwards to Rizzo's job as well.  While it seems very weird that an extension hasn't already happened, there also hasn't been much buzz that a change could happen.
Plus, some executive contracts aren't even publicly announced.  So Rizzo might have either a new deal already in place, or he has a handshake deal that will be figured out logistically after the season.

Are you related to Matt Olsen? You both have the same name.

"I wonder if this Homer Nixon is any relation."
"Unlikely, sir.  They spell and pronounce their names differently."

Not sure if he'll pull off the Ichiro/Fred Lynn double, but ROY is looking awfully good

With only 5 weeks to go in the season, is this the stretch drive?
Mark P
10:26
The whole thing is a stretch drive
Wish my name was Matt

Matt has had six question answered so far tonight so seemed like that is the name to use.  Who does Pittsburgh trade?
Mark P

It's actually a few different Matts, who just randomly all had the same user names.

Pirates are another team that has to be open to trading anybody.
Or just about anybody, barring their top young players

Acuna was rated as the top trade asset in baseball. What would he be worth to you?
Mark P
10:31
Tough call.  Atlanta could realistically ask for at least five top prospects/young stars ready to play at the big league level.

It's almost a case where Acuna is so valuable that he is, weirdly, too difficult to trade.  Only some teams would have enough assets to make a fair offer for him, and for teams who have those assets, they might prefer to keep them

We have a trade, Daniel Vogelbach to Toronto!  Time to close the queue and get to posting.  Thanks for all the questions, back next weekend with another chat!
