Ruth, Mays, Bonds, Aaron, Musial, Cobb, Wagner, Ted Williams, and, realistically, Josh Gibson and Oscar Charleston.
Toronto
9:19
Do we get in as the last team ?
Mark P
9:20
Jays are looking like a strong bet since there are only eight AL teams over the .500 mark.  The Jays might not even be the eighth seed
Brodie Van Wagenen
9:20
will I get fired once Cohen takes over?
Mark P
9:20
Probably, yeah
Kevin Costner
9:21
Am I better in Westerns or baseball movies?
Mark P
9:21
Hot take: Costner is the best sports movie actor of all time
Panda
9:22
Is this the end of the line for Pablo Sandoval? Maybe he can DH a little?
Mark P
9:22
Not sure if another team might take a leap on Sandoval, since there will be a flood of middle-to-lower tier free agents on the market, many of whom bring more to the table in defensive value and in recent hitting performance.

Oakland gonna re-sign Semien or...?  (Maybe he’s the Braves next one-year veteran rebound guy?)
Mark P
9:24
If the Braves didn't already have Swanson and Albies in the middle infield, Semien would fit their model perfectly.  And, just throwing it out there, Semien is a better defensive shortstop than Swanson, so if anyone was to move to third base...

If you took over the mets, would you deal degrom?
Mark P
9:29
Nope.  The Mets have enough talent that I think their next GM won't have to do a major overhaul.  Now that deGrom is locked up on what looks like a fair contract, there's no reason to deal maybe the game's best pitcher when the Mets could conceivably be in contention by 2021
9:31
Re: the many "what about this guy?" comments I'm getting about my all-time top 10 pitchers list.....lots of other great names there.  Seaver, Pedro, Carlton, all definitely in my 11-15 range
Astros

We traded all our prospects away so it makes it harder for a successful rebuild. What should we do
Mark P
9:34
Keep developing more good prospect, of course!

Non-flippant answer: decide which players are your cornerstones and go from there.  Lots of players and salaries are coming off the books by the end of the 2021 season, so there's lots of room for James Click to maneuver

Who wants me the most in 2021?
Mark P
9:34
You know, speaking of the Braves' penchant for one-year deals, Bauer makes a lot of sense in the ATL.

Who do you like for the NBA?
Mark P
9:35
The Raptors.  Friday's game was immensely frustrating, so many turnovers.

Do you think the Jays will pursue Walker or Ray in the off season?
Mark P
9:37
I can see the Jays having interest in either, though Walker is likely to get a lot of interest after his quality season.

Who was the best baseball player named Mark? McGwire?
Mark P

Shoutout to Mookie Betts, whose real name is Markus

If the Blue Jays make it far in the playoffs as a sneaky dark horse scary team, does that rev up the engines on the rebuild this offseason and compel Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins to make a big move? and t are your thoughts on Nate Pearson so far, as I view his progression in the big leagues as concerning and vouch for starting him at Triple A next year.
Mark P
9:41
I think the Ryu signing already counts as a big move on the front office's record, and I can see the Jays being aggressive again this winter.  Two caveats: the economic problems every team will face, and the Jays' unique issue of not yet knowing if they'll be able to play in Toronto in 2021.  Not sure if some free agents would be enthusiastic about playing in Buffalo next year...though for some guys who are wary of moving to Canada, maybe they'd embrace it.
9:42
As for Pearson, it's such a small sample size that it's hard to take much from his 2020 performance.  Starting him at Triple-A next year wouldn't be a surprise, though I'd expect the Jays see him as a rotation contributor by midseason at the latest next year

Giants are big market and have room to add salary next year. Starting pitching is main need, can you see them investing in Stroman?
Mark P
9:44
Like I said earlier, my thinking is that the Giants will continue to make smaller-term signings, not necessarily a notable long-term deal like the one Stroman is likely to receive.

Now, there's a chance Stroman missing all of 2020 might limit his market to some extent, so if he has to settle for a one-year pillow contract, any number of teams (including the Giants) will be involved.

That's it for tonight, thanks for all the questions!
