Why are their so many minor league teams? Triple-A, Double-A, Single-A, Short Season A, Fall League, and more.

Who are you rooting for in the Stanley Cup Finals?
Mark P
8:16
I guess Tampa, just because they've been knocking on the door for a few seasons now.

Does 4/75 get Ozuna to eventually DH for the Braves?
Mark P
8:19
That seems like a decent number for Ozuna, and I'm sure he would particularly love the four-year commitment.  The question is, however, whether the Braves would feel comfortable making such an offer, or if Ozuna will be this year's Josh Donaldson --- a one-year signing that works out like gangbusters, and lands Atlanta a draft pick via the QO when he leaves
The Braves may prefer to spend what money they have on pitching, for instance

ozuna cant get QO he has already gotten one before
Mark P
8:22
Good call, I'd forgotten about that!
8:23
So the QO isn't a factor, and the Braves would see Ozuna go for nothing if he signed elsewhere.

We should be getting a lot of money back from the Verlander insurance policy, so should we be favored to resign Springer and Brantley?
Mark P
8:25
(James Click = Astros GM)

Prior to Verlander's injury, I figured Houston would keep one hitter and let the other go.  You would think they would use any excess funds to beef up the rotation, however, given that Verlander is no longer in the picture.

Jon lester back to sox 50-50?
Mark P
8:26
I think there's a better chance he stays with the Cubs on an inexpensive one-year deal

i think i deserve a questioned answered since i spotted that. can the braves afford ozuna and a top tier pitcher salary
Mark P
8:28
Probably not both, but I can see Atlanta spending big in one of those two directions and then trying to land another Ozuna/Donaldson one-year rebound type for the other spot

Do you think the Marlins  pick up Marte's option and trade him, keep  him, or decline the option?
Mark P
8:30
They won't decline the option, but a trade probably isn't entirely out of the question.  My guess for now is that the Marlins will turn the corner (somewhat) towards wanting to contend, and will therefore keep Marte
Brooklyn
8:31
We should have a team.
Mark P
8:31
Agreed!
8:32
An expansion team in a new Ebbets Field called the Brooklyn Robinsons would immediately be the biggest story in baseball
(I can't take credit for that "Brooklyn Robinsons" name, I saw it mentioned in some other article once and thought it was a fantastic name idea)

Angels rebuild includes Trout to Braves for hefty 6-player package. Who says no?
Mark P
8:33
The Angels aren't trading Trout

Are the Yankees going to top 103 wins this year?
Mark P
8:35
I'd vote no, both because it's really hard to win 103 games even for a great team, and (more pessimistically) it's too early to say whether or not we're getting a 162-game season in 2021
Ivan Nova

tough season for Ben Cherington, do you think he saw enough of the Pirates in order to make decent evaluations of the team?  Also of the scouts and other folks?  Otherwise he might have to evaluate again next season.
Mark P
8:38
I mean, I doubt he was planning to pivot to making a bunch of win-now moves for 2021 anyway, so it's not like any great plan is being interrupted.  Seems like the Pirates are staring a few years of rebuilding right in the face.

Do you see expansion in the near future? Is Nashville, Buffalo, Las Vegas and Montreal do you think would be under consideration?
Mark P
8:42
Buffalo probably not, since as fun as the Jays' sojourn there has been, I don't think it will get the city on MLB's radar.  However, I am a fan of the idea floated in Jays fandom circles to have a "thank you Buffalo" series at Sahlen every series for the next few years
8:43
As for the other cities, they would definitely be under consideration if the league expands.

Major changes coming to Colorado?
Mark P
8:47
In terms of front office stuff, I'd lean towards no, given that ownership tends to give their GMs a lot of rope.  Brdich can point to the fact that 2020 was just a weird aberration of a season, and it isn't incorrect that the Rockies are just two seasons removed from back-to-back playoff appearances
8:48
Money-wise, they have a big chunk of payroll coming off the books, so I can see the team looking to fill roster holes via...well, I guess by free agency, since the Rockies don't really make all that many trades.  The thought of Colorado making another series of FA signings might worry a lot of fans, admittedly.

8:50
Why didn’t they bubble for wild card round too?
Mark P
8:51
I think scheduling might have been difficult.  Plus, in a first round of only three games, it seems to fair to give the higher seeds SOME kind of more distinct home-field advantage as a reward for their seasons.

What are the chances the Red Sox don't tender Eduardo Rodriguez a contract working off the lefthander's 2020 salary of $8.3 million?
Mark P
8:52
My guess is he is tendered a deal, since the Red Sox still need pitching and it wouldn't make sense to let a potential good trade chip (or building block) go for nothing
