Which MLBTR writer has an 80-grade in one of the five tools?
Mark P
8:56
Anthony Franco lapped the field at our last MLBTR staff Olympics.  He was like Usain Bolt.
Extra Innings
8:57
Does the 2020 extra inning rule still exist in the postseason?
Mark P
8:57
Nope.  Playoffs will be decided by the old (normal) extra innings rules.

How will this season effect teams spending in the future.
Mark P
8:59
It'll surely limit it to some extent, though the full effects might not be known for some time (or at least until teams know what the 2021 season will look like, or if fans will be allowed to attend games).
The top free agents will still get paid, but as many have pointed out, the middle class of free agents could very possibly get squeezed big-time
Jose Abreu
9:00
How am I not the MVP? The leader of a young playoff team, better average and Slugging, More HR’S, hits and runs batted in. Higher WAR and playing good defense at first
Mark P
9:01
Ramirez has the higher WAR than Abreu going by Fangraphs, and my logic in picking Ramirez was that he is almost single-handedly carrying Cleveland's offense.  Abreu is also having a great year but with Eloy and Anderson on hand, it isn't a one-man show.

Abreu is having a fantastic year, no doubt, but Ramirez is just a bit more "valuable" in my view.
Clever name here

Do you have a mask with an interesting design?
Mark P
9:03
Nope, just your standard light blue mask for me.

Which AL teams, other than the Astros, can most use George Springer?
Mark P
9:05
Any team could use Springer, obviously, but not all will be able to afford him.  I'd list the White Sox and Blue Jays as possible AL suitors, maybe the Red Sox, mayyyyybe Seattle

Would you trade Adell for Lindor and have him play SS leaving Fletcher at 2B?
Mark P
9:06
There is zero chance the Angels trade a controllable potential star like Adell for one year of Lindor
Elmer Fudd
9:07
Who don’t you want to face in the playoffs.
Mark P
9:07
The Rays and Dodgers, naturally.  Cleveland's pitching staff is scary, and the Reds are so red-hot (pardon the pun) right now that I wouldn't want to be facing them in the first round

While the Brooklyn Robinsons is a nice idea, 3 teams in NY is not.
Mark P
9:09
I feel like the greater New York market can easily support three teams

I have a lot of young players looking to come up. Who do you think will be gone next year
Mark P
9:11
Pederson is probably gone in free agency, Enrique Hernandez maybe the same if the Dodgers are ok with their other utility options.  I actually think there's a good chance they keep Justin Turner, he is still productive and could become a 1B/3B (or DH, if it becomes a fixture in the NL)

Who's the Red Sox manager on opening day?
Mark P
9:13
I think it will still be Roenicke.  Not sure the Red Sox want the media heat of bringing Cora back
Kershaw
9:15
Why no love for Cy Young this year? I've heard all the nonsense the last few years about falling off, but has anyone bothered to look at my stats this year? I'm the best SP of all time.....I deserve the Cy Young Award this year. Insanity!!!
Mark P
9:15
Kershaw is having a great year, no doubt, but the other top NL arms have more innings.

If you could go back and watch a game at a stadium that’s no longer around, which one would you choose?
Mark P
9:17
Despite growing up within two hours of Detroit, I somehow never attended a game at Tiger Stadium.

Chances this season screws up trade value, free agent signings, etc...?      There are guys who looked like megastars and others who looked like train wrecks.  Thoughts?
Mark P
9:19
This is another reason why the offseason market will be weird.  For players who don't have long track records, GMs can be "well, it was only a 60-game sample, how can I be sure you'll keep playing this well in a real season?"

But for players who do have longer track records but struggled in 2020, those same GMs will say "well, 60 games or not, it was a sign of decline.  How can I be sure this won't continue in a real season?"

In either case, the team offers less money
9:23
That's it for tonight, thanks for all the questions!
