Possibly. Retaining him was huge. He's like three very valuable players in one, if we're to believe WAR (which I certainly do in Trout's case; he's incredible)
King Kelly
6:29
Do you think the Orioles are doing a good job starting to rebuild? Bowie and Delmarva made the playoffs and Rutschman is already in Delmarva.
Connor Byrne
6:30
I believe in their new general manager, Mike Elias, but he's obviously got a long road ahead of him
King Kelly
6:30
Favourite baseball movie?
Connor Byrne
6:31
The Sandlot is my favorite baseball movie and one of my favorite movies in general. Honorable mention: Little Big League.
True Fan
6:31
The Orioles fan who is in MLB chats in mid September is the real MVP.
Connor Byrne
6:31
Agreed. Tons of respect for O's fans who haven't checked out.
Wil Meyers
6:31
Did I do enough to stick around?
Connor Byrne
6:32
Myers isn't very valuable, but what choice do the Padres really have except to stick with him? He's still got a ton of money coming his way.
Mudcat Grant
6:33
Agreed and kudos to the O's fan - but have you seen the Pirates recently.  I should at least be runner-up
Connor Byrne
6:33
Pirates fans are up there, too, especially considering their lousy ownership
Padres
6:33
Do you think the young core will be wasted by limited spending due to the Hosmer/Myers contracts and the overpay of machado?
Connor Byrne
6:34
We'll see. As I said earlier, I expect an aggressive Padres offseason. The Hosmer signing was awful from the get-go, though.
Carlos servin
6:35
Who do you think will have the best record in the American League?
Connor Byrne
6:35
I'll go Houston
Dave
6:36
Any takers for Dave Dombrowski or is his style wrong for the way teams want to operate?
Connor Byrne
6:37
How many teams are actually going to have GM/president openings? Not many. The lack of demand could keep him from getting a job immediately, and as you suggested, Dombrowski's not for everyone. Even the Red Sox reportedly were thinking of canning him BEFORE their amazing 2018 season ended.
Cleveland Fan
6:37
How do you diagnose their season? Mostly a victim of injury bug?
Connor Byrne
6:38
To a large extent. The Indians haven't gotten nearly as much as anyone expected from Kluber, Carrasco and the now-gone Bauer. They also willingly entered the season with an outfield everyone knew looked very weak; that's on them.
Enough home runs
6:39
When can the MLB change the baseballs back to normal, and will they choose to do so? The game is ruined with these juiced balls.
Connor Byrne
6:40
Rob Manfred has claimed MLB will look into the baseballs going into next year. Beyond that, I can't offer anything more than "we'll see what happens."
crybaby
6:40
Is Dombrowski's style less wanted because of the current luxury tax structure?
Connor Byrne
6:41
That seems to have something to do with it. If ownership can avoid the tax (no matter the team), that's a plus.
Phillie Fanatic
6:41
Joe Girardi make sense? Gabe's got to gooooooooo!
Connor Byrne
6:42
I like Girardi, and think he'd make sense for just about any win-now team in need of a manager.
Cory’s Brother
6:42
Am I out this offseason if the mariners eat some money?
Connor Byrne
6:43
If I'm not mistaken, Kyle Seager's contract has a poison pill that would make it very difficult to trade him
I don't have time to read this right now, but here's an old article on it from Ryan Divish: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/trading-kyle-seager-might...

6:44
Which Stroman is the real deal?  The Blue Jays' 2.96 ERA or the Mets' 4.50?
Connor Byrne
6:44
Boring answer: Something in between.
Cards fan
6:44
Carp's career as a card over with Edman on the verge?
Connor Byrne
6:45
Carpenter just got a pretty big extension, so probably not
Trixie
6:45
Do the Rockies bounce back next year?
Connor Byrne
6:46
They'd need some major bounce-back years on the pitching side, and I don't trust GM Jeff Bridich to make the right moves otherwise. So ... no.
Jackson
6:46
Do the angels try and get cole or strasburg? Maybe add wheeler to compliment one of the two?
Connor Byrne
6:47
They absolutely should be in on the best starters available. No more Harvey/Cahill pickups as your "big" SP additions.
Dodgers ain't winning it
6:47
With kuechel and Donaldson coming off the books, what moves do you see the braves doing this off-season to not only maintain but improve the team?
Connor Byrne
6:48
Well, they should probably try to retain those guys, though it'd be a tall order in both cases. If they leave, they'd need to be replaced. Bullpen's another spot that should be a priority, and probably catcher with McCann aging/possibly walking.
Ryan
6:49
The AL/NL wild card games will involve which four teams?
Connor Byrne
6:50
This answer is very vanilla, but I don't see A's/Rays or Nats/Cubs changing
