Why hasn’t Huntington or Hurdle been fired yet? They have to be let go to save the Pirates franchise
Connor Byrne
6:21
I think they should both go, but their ownership is also pretty terrible. That's the franchise's main problem.

6:22
Can we rest our players the last series of the year, against the Indians?  Or would that ruin the integrity of the AL Wild Card race?
Connor Byrne
6:22
The Nationals are still fighting with the Brewers to decide who will host the wild-card game, so resting players wouldn't be wise.
Connor Byrne
6:23
What makes me an authority on Baseball?
Connor Byrne
6:24
Never said I was an authority. I love the game & am lucky enough to write about it for a living for this great site. It's up to you whether or not you want to respect my opinions.

6:25
MVP in each league?  Does Trout hold on?  Yeli?
Connor Byrne
6:26
I'm going to guess Bregman and Bellinger, but if it's a "best player" award, then Trout and Yelich
Markoallen
6:27
Thoughts on who the next royals manager  might be?
Connor Byrne
6:27
Hopefully not Mike Matheny, who's a rumored candidate.
Detroit
6:28
Have the Tigers been tanking for half a season, just to get the 1st pick in the draft, or are they truly this historically bad because of a lack of talent?
Connor Byrne
6:29
They're very clearly lacking talent. Who's their best hitter, Victor Reyes? If they really wanted to tank for the rest of this year, they'd have traded Matt Boyd in July.
Sleepy Bear
6:30
If Yelich was a free agent after this season (thankfully he’s not!) would he get a $300mm contract?
Connor Byrne
6:31
Without a doubt. He'd be entering his age-28 season then, coming off back-to-back MVP-level years.
Toronto
6:31
What's our best strategy this offseason? Go in for a guy like Cole? Or parse out the funds a little more to get more 4/5 type starters and hope for the best?
Connor Byrne
6:32
I don't see Toronto doing anything all that aggressive for at least another year. Should they at least try on Cole, though? Yes. He's a special talent, and the Jays aren't (at least in their opinion) far from competing.
Eppler
6:33
Does my budget allow me to add Cole, Roark, Rendon?
Connor Byrne
6:33
(This being Angels GM Billy Eppler) All three? No. But Cole should be the top target.
Brandon
6:34
4/80 with a team option for a 5th year at 20 million enough to sign Bumgarner?
Connor Byrne
6:34
Doesn't sound unreasonable. Whether pres of baseball ops Farhan Zaidi would go to those lengths for Bumgarner is another question.
Coconut Oil
6:35
Will john Middleton spend stupid money to get Cole to Philly?
Connor Byrne
6:35
He should at least try.

6:35
Poor Yankees, they had a lot of injuries. That's called BASEBALL. get over yourselves
Connor Byrne
6:37
They've had a ridiculous number of injuries, especially to key players. I think I heard the other day the Yankees have used the IL more than one team in the history of the game. Who thought they'd win 100-plus games with almost zero contributions from Severino, Stanton or Betances? And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Ryan
6:37
Didn't you say a couple months ago you see no reason why Andy Green would be on the hot seat? What do you think happened here?
Connor Byrne
6:38
I believe so. Not sure what happened behind the scenes, but maybe the Pads think their rebuild should be just about done and viewed him as just a placeholder during a few more painful years.
Excellent
6:38
Shouldn't the Phillies start being smart with their money? And not spend it stupidity
Connor Byrne
6:39
They just spent $330MM on Harper. You don't do that and then stop. Continue to go all-in if necessary, and Cole would mean a lot for that rotation.
Padre Pete
6:40
What part of "Bruce Bochy is retiring" do you people not understand?
Charlie Midnite
6:41
What team stands out as a match for the Red Sox and Mookie Betts?
Connor Byrne
6:41
In a trade? Every outfield-needy team that thinks it'll be in title contention in 2020, Betts' last year of control. He has indicated on multiple occasions he's going to free agency, so an extension's likely out of the question.
Braves
6:42
If Keuchel and Donaldson walk, what could we realistically do to stay competitive aside from resigning them
Connor Byrne
6:43
Probably pursue different starters via FA/trades, plug in Riley at third and look for outfield help. The Braves would still be in very good shape even without Keuchel and Donaldson.
Van Wagenen
6:43
How do I fix the Mets bullpen? With our rotation and young hitters, that's the focus this winter, right?
Connor Byrne
6:44
Wasn't that the focus last winter? They paid a lot for Familia & Wilson and obviously made the Diaz blockbuster. Not sure how much more money/resources they'll pour into that area this offseason.
Yankees
6:45
$200M annual payrolls means they should have ample backup players waiting in Reserve, in case of injuries.
Connor Byrne
6:46
And they do, evidenced by their 100-plus wins.
The Lerner's
6:46
Why aren't we going to extend Rendon?
Connor Byrne
6:46
The Nationals want to extend him, and Rendon has said he hopes to stay, but whether they'll win what's likely $150MM-plus bidding war is up in the air.
