Connor Byrne

There you go. Meulens has it all!
Brian Cashman
6:16
What's my main offseason priority?
Connor Byrne
6:17
Starting pitching should be the main thing on the Yankees' agenda, whether they win it all or not.
Billy Eppler
6:17
How many days until I ink Maddon to manage the Angels
Connor Byrne
6:18
Could depend on how much the Angels are willing to pay. Ken Rosenthal reported last week the Angels might not want to pony up for Maddon, who made $6MM this year.

6:18
Hicks for Syndergaard, a possible trade?
Connor Byrne
6:19
Aaron Hicks? The Mets wouldn't do that. Syndergaard probably either stays or, if he's traded, he goes for young talent.
Coconut Oil
6:20
Mailed Franco and Cesar Hernandez for???? A bag of balls?
Connor Byrne
6:20
I doubt Franco has any trade value. Could be a non-tender if anything. Hernandez isn't worthless; he'd have value.

6:21
When is JD Martinez's opt put date? Thanks.
Connor Byrne
6:21
I don't have it off the top of my head. Sometime shortly after the World Series ends.
Fire Gase
6:21
Who would be your 3-4 favorites to sign Gerrit Cole if the offseason started right now? Yankees, Angels, and Phillies?
Connor Byrne
6:22
That's a logical trio of suitors. The White Sox and Rangers are also among those that could be in the mix.
Mark Shapiro
6:22
Am i allowed to spend any money this offseason?
Connor Byrne
6:23
I'm sure you are, Blue Jays prez Mark Shapiro, but whether the Jays want to be aggressive this offseason is another question. They might think they're another year away from that.
NFL fan
6:23
Totally random but who do you think will win the super bowl this year
Connor Byrne
6:23
The Chiefs

6:23
What do you think happens with Didi in the offseason? Most likely he ends up taking the QO if the Yankees offer it to him given his down year or he explores free agency and maybe tries to sign with a team like the Reds?
Connor Byrne
6:23
I think Gregorius will receive and reject a QO, and then sign elsewhere.
Medic Mike
6:24
What teams would have the prospects and financial capability to make a Betts deal?
Connor Byrne
6:25
That's something I'll have to look into more closely, but if you don't think you're a World Series contender in 2020, you probably shouldn't bother. Betts seems bent on testing free agency in a year, so an extension looks very unrealistic.
Padres fan
6:25
Craziest, but realistic, thing we could pull off this offseason - go.
Connor Byrne
6:25
They're another possible team that could go for Cole. I don't think a signing would be wholly unrealistic after seeing the Pads recently splurge on Machado and Hosmer. Plus, if it helps, Cole's a Southern California guy.
Qualifying Offer
6:26
If a player rejects a qualifying offer, is he allowed to sign later for a year for tht same amount?
Connor Byrne
6:26
Yes
Andrew
6:26
What do the Brewers do at SS in the offseason, if anything? Orlando Arcia is the heart of the clubhouse, but his play just does not justify his spot on the roster. Worst qualified hitter in MLB, and they traded Dubon away.
Connor Byrne
6:27
Arcia's production has been awful back-to-back seasons, though he's still fairly young. Not a lot of clear answers in free agency other than Gregorius, and I doubt the Brewers would win a multiyear bidding war for him.
Rick Hahn
6:28
Kuechel, JD Martinez, and Kole Calhoun, couple of solid bullpen arms...did i have a good off-season?
Connor Byrne
6:28
I'd say that would be a pretty good offseason for the White Sox
King Kelly
6:28
Vladito has a disappointing 2019, relative to most (admittedly high) expectations.  Does that affect your optimism for 2020 and beyond?
Connor Byrne
6:29
Not really. I still fully expect Vlad Jr. to be an offensive force. Keep in mind he's only 20 years old. To post (roughly) league-average offensive numbers in the majors at that age is nothing to scoff at

o/u 200 mil for cole
Connor Byrne
6:30
Slightly over, I think
Bo Diddley
6:30
Enough with the fringe weak team talk. Who is a logical free agent splash for Dodgers after the finally win the World Series?
Connor Byrne
6:30
I mean, they've got the financial capabilities to be in on anyone, but president Andrew Friedman hasn't really operated that way to this point. I think his biggest signings have been Turner and Jansen for $80-some mill each.
SF Giants fan
6:31
Who got the better end of the Mauricio Dubon trade
Connor Byrne
6:32
I think both sides are probably happy. An out-of-contention team got a potential young building block, while Pomeranz has been a stud for the playoff-bound club.
Sir Didi
6:32
Why wouldn't the Yankees bring me back?  I'm the only lefty hitting infielder.
Connor Byrne
6:33
I'm sure the Yankees would like Gregorius back, but whether they'd put in the highest bid is another matter. They'd have a ready-made middle infield with Torres at SS and LeMahieu at 2B without Gregorius.
Bucco Bill
6:33
If I'm the Pirates GM, I'm looking to trade Starling Marte, but only for a controllable SP.  Help me find a trade partner.
