Not sure I can do that in the heat of the moment, but there'd be a lot of interest in Marte, especially since the class of free-agent outfielders doesn't look that great.

Surprised Huntington didn’t go too?
Connor Byrne
6:34
Not really, but were I the Pirates, I'd make a GM change.
Jonesy
6:34
Do the Cubs make tweeks or more substantial changes.  Seems like health makes them formidable again, right?
Connor Byrne
6:35
I could see some pretty big changes there. Don't forget pres Theo Epstein was seemingly fed up with his roster last year, and that was after a playoff season.
Joe Girardi
6:35
Am I back in the dugout next season?
Connor Byrne
6:36
There's sure to be interest. Girardi's a fit for any team that thinks it'll contend in 2020.

Why do the tigers continually trade their MLB players for young talent. They have had the first overall draft pick for 3 of the last 4 years
Connor Byrne
6:37
Well, they've traded guys like Castellanos and J.D. Martinez when they were pending free agents & the team wasn't contending. Shane Greene wasn't a necessary piece on this year's team, and he only has one season of control left. Logical to move those players in those cases, whether or not you like the returns the Tigers got.

Do you expect an extension for JTR before the season starts?  Phillies can’t let him get to free agency after next season?
Connor Byrne
6:38
Yeah, I think the Phillies will get it done. There seems to be motivation on both sides to work something out.

Any other pitchers likely to be traded besides Syndergaard? Maybe Marco Gonzalez? Jon Gray? Matt Boyd? Dylan Bundy finally?
Connor Byrne
6:39
Seems like a logical bunch of potential trade pieces there. Gonzales has the most control left (I think), so he looks likeliest to stay put. But you never know with Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto at the helm.

Are my days numbered? Or MLB just putting up a front?
Connor Byrne
6:40
Commissioner Rob Manfred has said changes are coming. I do hope we do see fewer homers next year. It got out of hand this season.

what does the Jose Abreu contract look like for the White Sox?
Connor Byrne
6:41
2/28?

Do any pending free agents this year sign extensions before FA opens? If so who?
Connor Byrne
6:42
The just-mentioned Abreu looks like a strong possibility. Maybe Bumgarner.
Natsman
6:42
Who are the best relievers on this winter's market?
Connor Byrne
6:43
Aroldis Chapman if he opts out of his Yankees deal (not an unrealistic possibility). Will Smith, Drew Pomeranz, Dellin Betances are a few others. Here's the FA list: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/08/2019-20-mlb-free-agents.html

How much do MLBTR guys make?  Is this your full-time job?
Connor Byrne
6:44
I'm not saying how much I or the others make, but yes, this is my full-time job.

Is Rendon still in our uniform in 2020?
Connor Byrne
6:45
The Nationals have made a mighty competitive offer: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/09/nationals-reportedly-made-recen...
However, once a player hits free agency, I find it hard to take his current team over the field (even though Rendon has indicated he'd like to stay)
Dansby
6:45
Do you think the Braves will package me in a deal for a TOR starter or another significant piece? I just can't seem to put it together.
Connor Byrne
6:46
Who would replace Dansby Swanson? As I said, the FA class for shortstops doesn't look like much outside of Gregorius. Swanson's not great, but he's a capable starter.

Would you give Schwarber an extension if you were Theo?
Connor Byrne
6:47
Epstein loves Schwarber, so I'm not going to rule it out.
Smoaky
6:48
Do I have a market this offseason? Re-sign with Toronto continue mentoring the baby birds?
Connor Byrne
6:49
Justin Smoak's a 30-something 1B coming off a so-so year in terms of bottom-line production, so he's not going to break the bank. He was a Statcast darling this year, though (last time I checked, at least), so he could be an affordable bounce-back candidate. I haven't seen anything indicating Toronto will try to re-sign him, however (maybe it's out there; just hasn't come to my attention).
Dodger Blue

Any rumors out there about Hyun-Jin Ryu's future plans?
Connor Byrne
6:51
Not that I've seen, but as a Cy Young contender who can't get another QO (he accepted one last winter), he'll cash in pretty well for a soon-to-be 33-year-old with an injury history.

Where do you think Sir Didi ends up next year?  How many years?
Connor Byrne
6:52
I could see him reuniting with the Reds, whom he began his pro career with, on a 3/4-yr deal.
Frank Grimes
6:52
Any relation to Sarah Connor?
Connor Byrne
6:52
Negative, Grimey
100 Miles Giles
6:52
Where am I closing out games to start next year. If Toronto is looking at maybe 75 wins do they really have a need for me?
Connor Byrne
6:53
Toronto probably would've traded Giles at the deadline if not for his injury issues. I'll be surprised if he's still a Jay when the 2020 season opens.
