Will this be the year the Braves move on from Riley- or at least move him to a back-up role?
Mark P
12:52
If the Braves really wanted to "move on," there would be a long line of teams happily ready to acquire a 24-year-old former top prospect with only 503 PA at the big league level.  I think it's way too early for Atlanta to give up on Riley, unless they package him as part of a trade for a more proven star
Mr. Hahn
12:53
Who should I hire as manager. Sandy Alomar?
Mark P
12:53
Rick Hahn = White Sox GM

I would imagine Alomar will get a lot of attention this offseason, but I also wonder if he's basically the manager-in-waiting in Cleveland.  Terry Francona is under contract through 2022 and you wonder how long he'll continue managing given his health issue.
Kyle
12:54
Bauer has said he will only accept one year deals. I see a fit there with LA if he truly wants that. thoughts?
Mark P
12:55
Bauer has hedged a bit on his one-year contract plan, which is understandable given how baseball's economy has entirely changed in the last year: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/09/trevor-bauer-on-free-agency.htm...
12:56
Regardless, the Angels absolutely need a top starter.  The Dodgers are a good fit too....don't forget, they tried to get Bryce Harper on a shorter-term, higher average annual value deal, so they could explore that same type of contract with Bauer

Aaron Judge for Cody Bellinger, who says no?
Mark P
12:57
The Dodgers
Revan

Do St. Louis or San Diego regret dealing with Tampa? Both made playoffs
Mark P
12:59
The Padres got Cronenworth in one of their trades with Tampa last year, so I'm sure they'll happy about it.  As for the Cardinals, hindsight is 20-20.  At the time of that trade in January, I remember a lot of fans thinking how smart the Cards were for landing a top pitching prospect for two spare-part outfielders.  If Liberatore or the draft pick end up being good players, it can still be a win-win on both sides

Jack Flaherty for Jasson Dominguez and deivi Garcia. (NYY). Who says no?
Mark P
1:01
The Yankees.  They see Garcia as developing into something of a Flaherty-lite type of pitcher at minimum, and Dominguez is drawing rave reviews.
Corey

Who do the As replace Beane with?
Mark P
1:01
Probably no real "replacement," as they'll just put David Forst fully in charge of baseball ops

What is your favorite comedy movie of all time? Mine is Pee Wee's Big Adventure!
Mark P
1:04
It's either This Is Spinal Tap or A Fish Called Wanda.  Honorable mention to literally a hundred others.

Arozarena has to be the most important trade in rays history, even if he's not this good going forward and libretore ends up great.
Mark P
1:07
Flags fly forever, you're right.  To use an example from my life as a Blue Jays fan, nobody in Toronto minds losing Jeff Kent since David Cone helped the Jays win a title

Can we get a poll on when we see Dave Roberts call for Kershaw today?
Mark P
1:08
I'm trying to will "Kershaw isn't used in an ill-advised relief outing again" into being since I feel sorry for the poor guy, but we can all see it coming.
Trevor Bauer
1:09
Thinking of signing with the Dodgers for 2 years and $65 million and a player option for $30 million. You like my chances Mark P?
Mark P
1:10
I think the Dodgers would be very open to landing Bauer on a three-year/$95MM deal, but Bauer would be leaving money on the table (both in the short and long-term)
Ray-Ray
1:10
If the Rays let half the team go to cut costs, won't Morton just retired?
Mark P
1:11
By this point, Morton knows how the Rays operate, and I'm sure he has confidence that the front office knows what it's doing.
Rays fans
1:11
I'm a Cardinal fan but have a ton of respect for the Rays organization and what they do with so little. Why can they not garner a fan base they so much deserve?
Mark P
1:12
It should be noted, the Rays have lots of fans.  TV ratings in the Tampa area are very strong.  It's just that nobody goes to the ballpark because it is in a singularly inconvenient part of town.
Also, in the same way that pressure makes diamonds, I believe that the Rays wouldn't be as innovative as they are *without* these unique payroll and attendance conditions.
tiger forever,

do you know if showalter wants to manage anymore
Mark P
1:14
He interviewed for the Astros job last winter, so I'm guessing he still has interest in a return

Lindor for Jo Adell straight up. Thoughts?
Mark P
1:15
There is zero chance the Angels trade Adell for one year of Lindor
Less than zero
Lee in YYZ

Hi Mark, just a thought, what if the Blue Jays just have Vladdy Jr DH, and then work on his defense in the background. He's 21 yrs old and maybe just let him breathe?
Mark P
1:17
There's no substitute for in-game experience, however.  I do agree with the general "let it breathe" attitude, since there's already so much angst about a young player who has barely over a season's worth of games under his belt
Arcman
1:18
A's have a decision to make on Manaea arbitration contract.  About $6 million next year.  Should they flip him for a 2b or SS that they need with losing so many free agents to free up some money?
Mark P
1:19
Trading Manaea would create another hole in the rotation, but this kind of creative thinking isn't beyond the A's.  If I had to guess, however, Manaea stays put.  The A's still see him as a big part of their pitching staff
Ken Giles
1:20
Someone takes a gamble and signs me to a 2 year 4-6 million dollar deal?
Mark P
1:21
Sounds right, maybe for a touch more than $6MM.  Min salary in 2021 while he's recovering from Tommy John surgery and then the rest in 2022 when he's ready to pitch

Hendriks a bigger FA than Semien though, not enough being said about this.
