Dude

Dylan Carlson for Gavin lux. Who says no?
Mark P
12:09
I don't think either team makes that deal.
Jake from State Diego
12:09
Instead of trading Myers, Padres trade Hosmer, Mejia, and Morejon/Patino to Angels for Walsh and Upton. The prospects offset Hosmer’s contract, then just release Upton.
Mark P
12:11
Again, Upton has a no-trade clause, so this isn't happening.  It also doesn't make much/any sense from the Padres' perspective
AstroOrbit
12:12
Is Correa a good trade candidate since he's a free agent after next season?
Mark P
12:14
Potentially, but only if the Astros pivot to full rebuild mode, which I doubt is happening.  They might be looking to thread the needle between contending and rebuilding, which means moves like letting Springer walk but acquiring someone less expensive as a partial replacement (Bradley?)
Tribe
12:15
Do you expect to ever see us win in your lifetime??
Mark P
12:15
I'm not *that* old, so....sure!
Marcell
12:16
Do I re-sign with Atlanta or do I end up elsewhere?
Mark P
12:16
My guess is he goes elsewhere, and the Braves look for "the next Ozuna," as in a veteran on a one-year deal who could be poised for a big year
Shane
12:16
Any issues with Cora returning to the Red Sox?
Mark P
12:18
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the whole "search" process since it was pretty clear that Cora was the top choice all along.  Rumors were flying even last January that Cora would come back after his suspension was up.
Notaredsfan
12:19
What can we expect the reds to do this offseason? I don’t see them spending much if not nothing at all.
Mark P
12:20
The Reds are still in win-now mode, though they'll need to adjust to the probable loss of Bauer and some increased questions about what to expect from their lineup since almost all their hitters had down years.
12:21
Re-signing Bauer isn't entirely out of the question, but I'd be surprised to see it happen.  I think it's more likely you see the Reds acquire a less-expensive pitcher for rotation depth, and then make a trade for an outfielder
Reading the Hand
12:24
Does the Brad Hand buyout indicate a guy like Jon Gray is non-tendered in favor of a salary over $7 mil?
Mark P
12:25
I would think the Rox would be able to trade Gray somewhere before non-tendering him, since there are enough pitching-needy teams that would love to see if a change of scenery turns Gray around.
12:26
The Hand decision was made in part because the Tribe were on a deadline about his option.  If they'd had a month before a non-tender deadline, I'm sure they could have worked out a trade with someone
Frank01
12:26
Which 3 candidates from Angels are finalists for either President of baseball ops and GM or just GM role
Mark P
12:27
As per latest reports, around six candidates are moving on to the second stage, which is an interview with Moreno.  So far, Michael Hill is the only one known to be part of that next stage.
Dj
12:29
What percentage would you give for DJ LeMahieu coming back to the Yankees?
Mark P
12:30
Somewhere between 50-60% chance.  i think if the Yankees spend anywhere this winter, it'll be on DJ.
Dude
12:30
Is wainwright HOF worthy?
Mark P
12:30
He's another Hall Of Very Good guy for me.  Not quite Cooperstown, but obviously still an excellent career.
Neutral World Series
12:33
What is the driving factor behind this? Wouldnt it be better for business and fans to have the games in the teams own ballpark?
Mark P
12:35
The argument for a neutral-site World Series has always been to make it into a set "event" like the Super Bowl.  Scheduling it at a domed or warm-weather stadium every year also removes any weather concerns in late October.

However, the reason the Super Bowl becomes such an "event" is because it's a single game, and there are two weeks of hype preceding it (and, bigger-picture, because the NFL is just way more popular than baseball or any other sport in North America).  Baseball isn't going to shut down for two weeks to hype up a World Series, nor would it be the type of destination travel event for fans that a Super Bowl is

The Mets, A's, Reds and Twins are all stuck on that 30ish year tilt drought island the Dodgers just left. Who leaves next?
Mark P
12:36
Who is next to win a World Series?

Twins (20.6% | 26 votes)

Reds (12.7% | 16 votes)

Mets (42.9% | 54 votes)

Athletics (23.8% | 30 votes)

Braves dude
12:37
Couldnt looking for the "Next Ozuna" blow up in the Braves face. It's rare to find a MVP contender on a 1 year deal. Why not just sign Ozuna instead?
Mark P
12:38
Don't forget, the Braves have Pache and Waters on tap as outfielders of the future.  So Ozuna then becomes more or less a full-time DH, which is a position that doesn't officially exist yet in the National League.
Danny
12:38
Thoughts on the Pirates looking to trade Josh Bell? Would Milwaukee be a potential landing spot or would Pittsburgh be reluctant to trade within the division?
Mark P
12:40
I sort of question Josh Bell's trade value, frankly.  He's already 28, first base isn't a tough position to fill, and he's been pretty average for his career apart from that three-month burst in 2019.  If Pittsburgh gets a good enough offer for him, I can see them moving him anywhere (even within the NL Central) on a sell-high argument.
Jeremy
12:41
Do you think anyone will look at signing Rusney Castillo or Yasmany Tomas?
Mark P
12:42
Wouldn't be shocked if either signs a minor league deal somewhere, particularly Castillo.  There seems to be a consensus that Castillo would have been a big league-caliber fourth outfielder if it wasn't for his contract situation.
Kershaw
12:43
Did I do enough in the playoffs to drop the whole "Can't pitch in October"?
Mark P
12:43
A ring erases a lot of criticisms
JR
12:43
JP Crawford, a young OF that's not Kelenic or Rodriguez (Fraley, Deloach) & a lower level prospect for Lindor. Who says no?
Mark P
12:44
Cleveland says no to that.  I also question whether the Mariners would look to acquire a one-year rental when they're not truly expected to contend
Springer
12:46
Would he really go to the White Sox?
Mark P
12:46
If the money is right, sure
