I'm flagging a few questions as they come through the queue that I'll get around to answering later, so repeating the questions isn't really necessary

Do the giants go after anyone big this off-season. Whether it’s a signing or a trade?
Mark P
7:49
The Giants have a lot of open payroll space after 2021, I can see them as a darkhorse candidate for a big acquisition
Pat

I know the Mets have been tied to Lindor, but what about Arenado given the salary commitment - maybe they could get him and Gray for a fraction of what they would have to pay for Lindor, who could walk next year?
Mark P
7:51
Even with Arenado's contract, the Rockies aren't going to just give him away at discount price.
Theoretically, Arenado would have a much larger price tag than Lindor since Arenado is (barring an opt-out) under contract for years
AJ Hinch
7:51
What are the chances of Springer coming to the Tigers given that I was his manager on the Stros?
Mark P
7:52
Manager/player ties aside, there hasn't been any indication that the Tigers are ready to make that kind of big splash.
In Cashman we trust

Rank from most to least likely: lindor, lemaheiu, Simmons, didi or semien is a member of the Yankees on opening day
Mark P
7:54
I think DJLM is going back to New York, but if not, any of these guys could be on the table.  If Simmons or Semien are more amenable to a one-year contract, they take the lead over Lindor, I'd imagnie

Why is Tampa so uninterested in baseball? Tampa is a really nice place with nice people.
Mark P
7:56
The Rays get very good local TV ratings, and I don't think there's any issue with the city at large.  The problem is that Tropicana Field is in an incredibly inconvenient part of town.
Mochi
7:57
Do you see the Rays making any significant moves?
Mark P
7:57
Sure, in the sense that the Rays' most significant moves are usually under-the-radar transactions that end up being big wins

Ha-Seong Kim is the most underrated free agent this off-season. More people need to be talking about the next great Korean star.
Mark P
7:59
He might be the most underrated, just because I doubt many of us on this chat have ever seen him play.  The trouble is, it also wouldn't be a shocker if he struggled transitioning to the major leagues.

Jays going to protect all the prospects ? Or pull the trigger?
Mark P
8:00
You're not going to see a Dombrowski-esque housecleaning, since the Jays value having a consistent pipeline.  They didn't go to the trouble of rebuilding the farm system just to blow most or all of their prospects in a big trade or two.
Tim
8:01
Can teams ask to negotiate an extension with lindor before trading for him?
Mark P
8:02
They can, but Lindor and his camp would have to agree obviously, and that adds another layer of complications to any trade talks.

Does Francona really come back next season or does he retire and hand the reigns to Sandy Alomar?
Mark P
8:06
All signs seem to be pointing to Francona returning next year, so there isn't any succession plan in place yet.  But, it does seem like Alomar is the favorite to be the next manager, perhaps after Francona retires or steps down

The Simpsons or Family Guy
Mark P
8:07
Simpsons by a mile.

And that's the worst fake name I've ever heard.
Kolton Wong
8:08
I hear Boston is really nice. They could use a stop gap.
Mark P
8:08
Writing about Wong the other day, I feel like he'd be a good fit on almost half the teams in the league, Boston included

Hand going unclaimed has to signal Indians aren’t getting a great return for Lindor right? Every team knows how desperate they are to cut payroll and it seems every other team is financially weary as well.
Mark P
8:09
Lindor is a different story than Hand, since everyone agrees that a star position player is more valuable than a star closer.  Plus, Cleveland can now say "we're not desperate to cut payroll anymore since we got Hand's contract off the books."
Mookie Betts
8:10
Worth the money or regrettable two years from now?
Mark P
8:10
By the "flags fly forever" metric, he's already been worth it

Could Phillies build a package around Howard for Musgrave(pirates)?
Mark P
8:11
The Phils aren't trading Howard in that kind of a deal, if we all.  They're hoping he can deliver Musgrove-style numbers as early as 2021.
John
8:11
Marky Mark, what’s your walkup song?
Mark P
8:12
Word Up, by Cameo
"Mark, do you mention a different song every time someone asks you this question?"

Yes, yes I do

Dodgers will remain content at just small signings including potentially Turner or do they make a splash to help separate themselves from teams even more?
Mark P
8:14
The Dodgers are usually pretty strategic with their "big splashes," but if they see that everyone else isn't going to spend, they might see the time as right to do something major
Kay
8:15
Any chance the Jays try Gurriel in centre?
Mark P
8:16
I would guess no.  After all his defensive issues in the infield, Gurriel seems to have settled in pretty nicely in left, so if it ain't broke...
