What could a contract extension look like for me?
Mark P

Alllllllllll the money

Not a fan of the Gomez Addams-eque Riddler? Personally, I kept expecting Carolyn Jones to show up as Marsha, Queen of Diamonds in his episodes but that's because I was watching both shows after school in the 70s.
Mark P

Ok, I just have to do a poll at this point. Who knew randomly mentioning Frank Gorshin would set off a bunch of comments?

Did Sandy Alderson's comment that baseball is "in the entertainment industry" break your heart a little? Broke mine!! RIP baseball hello MLB

I mean, he isn't incorrect

I read in your NY Yankee MLB traderumors evaluations that your "staff" thought they would Non-tender Sanchez.   I would bet my house, they will tender him.   The Yankees tend to "not say a word" and these floated rumors are Only about getting a message to him!
Mark P
9:36
What "message" are they trying to send?  Sanchez was already benched down the stretch and in the playoffs, you think he doesn't know his starting job is no guarantee?

And keep in mind, this is an uncharted territory year arbitration-wise.  We're going to be a lot of players non-tendered on December 2, including some we didn't expect

I'm guessing this depends somewhat on how the FA SP market shapes up, but is a Lance Lynn trade a realistic possibility for the Mets?
Mark P
9:37
Absolutely.  The Rangers should be shopping Lynn around to a wide range of teams, since he fits basically anywhere.

Have you seen Ozark? Great show!
Mark P
9:39
I watched the first season and enjoyed it, but it didn't quite hook me enough to keep going.  Some great acting from Bateman, Linney, and Julia Garner, but the plotlines weren't anything special

Can the Giants still sign Gausman to a long term deal? If so, what does that look like?
Mark P
9:41
If a player accepts a qualifying offer, he can still negotiate a longer-term deal with his team.  We saw it last year with Jose Abreu and the White Sox, in fact.

I could see something like three years and something in the ballpark of $35MM for Gausman, perhaps.  Maybe with a player opt-out thrown in there

What is the max dollar amount you can offer towards a player for a one year contract? Ie. Trevor bauer.
Mark P
9:41
There is no max

What is the most important move that Detroit needs to make to assist the maturation of their young pitchers?
Mark P
9:42
Their biggest issue right now (and the issue of every team) is trying to figure out how to properly develop their prospects given the lack of proper minor league baseball in 2020 and the uncertainty about what the 2021 minor league season is like
9:43
This question looms larger for the Tigers than most teams, though, since Detroit is banking their next decade on this current crop of prospects built up during their rebuild

Is it unrealistic for Cleveland to land a cost controlled starting OF with some pop for only one year of Lindor?
Mark P
9:46
Not at all.  Lindor is a fantastic player.  Even one year of him could be the difference in making a World Series contender into a WS winner.

Mariners seem to be resigned to sticking with the status quo. Maybe they don't want to do anything to overshadow The Kraken.
Mark P
9:48
The Mariners might not make any real big "NOW we're going for it" moves until next offseason.  They might want to get Rodriguez and Kelenic into the big leagues first.

9:48
Now that Rusney Castillo has his golden handcuffs off does he get a major league job?
Mark P
9:48
He'll probably get a minor league deal from someone.  Just for the LOLs, I hope Cherington signs him in Pittsburgh

In conjunction with Gausman potentially signing an extension soon after accepting QO, do you think the same could happen with Stroman? 4/60?
Mark P
9:50
A Stroman extension would certainly seem like something Alderson and the new POBO would explore.
Fred McGriff

What clubs do you see as a potential bidders for the services for Ha Seong Kim?
Mark P
9:53
Lots of teams, from contenders to non-contenders to teams on the cusp.  Kim is only 25 and by all accounts is a good shortstop, though he could also fit at third base or second base.

Now, in an offseason where money is at a premium, some teams might shy away from paying big for a guy with no MLB experience.  So that will eliminate some teams from the running right away, but not all teams.

Will KC’s 2018 draft ‘haul’ pan out? Singer, Kowar, Lynch, Bubic? Or is it just a pipe dream?
Mark P
9:55
Too early to say, obviously, but the more good prospects the Royals have, the better chance of at least one turning into a regular MLB-caliber player (or even a star)
And if you have a bunch of homegrown guys who blossom at the same time, that's when you get teams like the 2015 Royals

9:56
Is it Bauer or bust for the Angels? What other starting pitchers that are available could help them get back to the playoffs?
Mark P
9:58
A pitcher doesn't necessarily have to be an obvious "top of the market" type to be a big help....just look at Bundy last year.
RJ
9:58
Why sign Clevinger to a two year deal now? Has two arb years left.
Mark P
9:59
Padres get cost certainty if they're unclear on how arbitration will be calculated this season or after 2021, and Clevinger gets some guaranteed cash now.
I can see the logic on both sides.
