Thoughts on the LAD rumor that has them interested in Lindor?  I don't get it.  Lindor vrs Seager, stats in the same 'ballpark', with Lindor slightly better.  However, Seager slots in real well at #2 behind Betts.....
Mark P

The idea would be to have both in the infield for a year (with one moving to second or third base) since that makes the team better.  Then, the Dodgers can pick which one they want to make the big push to re-sign.
Or, they feel they'd have a better chance of signing Lindor to an extension prior to free agency, a la Betts.  Seager is a Scott Boras client, so the chances of an extension there are lower

I’m not really going to take a year off when Steve Cohen wants to pay me bigly with the Mets right?
Mark P
11:10
You're going to get a fortune wherever you go, so I'm guessing that's not a concern.

I can understand Epstein's desire to take a year off, both to recharge the batteries and to get a better sense of where MLB stands in a year's time given the pandemic, the CBA talks, a possible work stoppage, etc.

What happened to Russell Martin? No official retirement? Just vanished?
Mark P
11:12
We haven't heard much about Martin in a while, so it isn't known if he is still planning to keep playing or what.

Does Lourdes' friendly contract make him a staple for the Jay's or more of a n attractive trade piece? I've always thought the same about Randal's contract.
Mark P
11:13
Gurriel's deal is a lot more team-friendly than Grichuk's, and if I'm the Jays, I'm viewing Gurriel as a building block.  He is a little streaky, but when he is on, he has shown some legitimately outstanding skill at the plate

Indians trade both Lindor and Carrasco this off season
Mark P
11:15
Lindor absolutely.  Carrasco is a maybe, since I think the team loves him and values him as both a pitcher and a clubhouse guy.  But, if their payroll situation is really that tight, Carrasco is the next obvious choice to be dealt.
Kyle Freeland
11:15
Where do I go from here?
Mark P
11:17
His 2020 was something of a midpoint between his very good 2018 and his rough 2019.  There's certainly value (especially in Colorado) in being a solid mid-rotation type of arm, so Freeland should have a good career if he can stay on track

What would the Angels need to give up for Lynn? Does something like Jordyn Adams (no. 3 prospect), Jamai Jones (no. 7 prospect) + a lottery ticket outside the top 30 get it done?
Mark P
11:18
For just one season of Lynn?  I tend to lean towards no, but we also don't know how Minasian yet operates as a GM.

11:19
Which of the three, Wong, Wainwright and Molina, returns to the Cardinals?  And on what kind of contract?
Mark P
11:19
Wainwright and Molina will re-sign, I feel
11:20
Both on one-year deals, Molina maybe with a club/vesting option for 2022

Any indication that Jed House will run the Cubs any differently that Theo did? It feels like the status quo will continue to me. I would've preferred to see an entirely new regime come in to shake things up. Am I wrong?
Mark P
11:22
As much as the Cubs seem ready to finally shake things up, they also don't think they're that far away from contending from another World Series.  Ergo, a big teardown and rebuild isn't necessary at this point, from their perspective.
11:23
Now, as to whether or not Hoyer will be much/any different than Epstein, it's a legitimate question given how closely the two have worked together for so long.  But, "running a team like Theo Epstein" isn't exactly a flaw

11:23
Lindor to Seattle make sense? What kind of package would JD need to come up with?
Mark P
11:24
The Mariners can't be realistically planning to contend in 2021, and I don't see Dipoto making that major a trade just for the sake of breaking the playoff drought
Ernie Banks
11:24
Any chance the Cubs nontender Bryant?
Mark P
11:25
I guess we can't 100 percent rule it out, which is nuts.  But it would be very, very, unlikely.

11:26
What are the chances of Kim (currently in Korean Baseball League) in a Tiger uniform?
Mark P
11:27
The Tigers make a lot of sense as a Kim suitor.  He's young enough that he should still be a contributor by the team Detroit is ready to contend (maybe by 2022 or 2023), and the Tigers have plenty of payroll space and a lack of solid infield options

How much money do agents make on multi million signings?
Mark P
11:29
I think agents generally take no more than a five percent cut, but that obviously can be lower from agency to agency

Phillies didn't want Hand or the Mets, on a 1 year deal?
Mark P
11:30
Alderson seemed to imply that the Mets might have claimed Hand if Cohen had officially had control of the team during Hand's stint on waivers.  So, there seems to be some interest on New York's part, so keep an eye out there

Can we pay off bonilla and saberhagan
Mark P
11:32
I got a kick out of this recent story where Steve Cohen proposed having some fun with the situation with an annual "Bobby Bonilla Day" at the ballpark.

Phillies not having a GM in places stagnant their off-season?
Mark P
11:34
I'm not sure what the Phillies are doing, since they seem to be looking for a new PoBO and GM....but also maybe not *really* having a full-fledged search since they might just stick with MacPhail and Rice.

If I'm a top free agent, I definitely want some solid answers on what's going on with the front office before I consider Philly
Kevin Cash

Am I on thin ice with the folks upstairs?
Mark P

I highly doubt Cash's job is in any jeopardy whatsoever

It seems like the Rockies never even attempt to add a quality SP via FA or trade.  I would think it would be wise for them to invest heavily in groundball pitchers.  I understand pitchers' reluctance to pitch there.  Your thoughts?
Mark P
11:38
You hit the nail on the head --- pitchers are reluctant to sign there, unless they don't have many (or any) other interesting options.  It takes two to tango, unless the Rockies overpay a guy to pitch there, and we've seen how badly things can go when the Rox hand out big pitching contracts

I'm sorry for the follow up, but Tim Lincecum as a hall of famer? Thoughts?
