They've got to get a middle infielder in there as well, but overall, that's not a bad offseason of work.  Pivoting to build a great bullpen might be a sharp move if the Angels can't land any of their top SP targets

what do the twins do with Rosario?
Mark P
12:17
The general consensus is that Rosario will be non-tendered, unless someone offers the Twins a trade between now and December 2

Mitch Haniger to the Phillies for Adam Haseley and EnloyDeLaSantos and Mickey Moniak who says no?
Mark P
12:20
Not sure the Phillies would do that, they're in need of a proper CF more than another corner outfielder.  (Haniger can play center but he isn't an ideal fit.)

What are Houston's options with Justin Verlander?  He is taking up precious roster space
Mark P
12:23
If you're suggesting the Astros release him, that seems like kind of a moot point since he'll be on the IL all season anyway and they'll still have to pay him.

Looking ahead to 2022, Houston might consider extending Verlander for a lower-salary one-year deal to see if he can come back and still be effective

Jays are interested in Happ again...does it make sense to bring him back?

Dependable vet who can, at worst, eat innings.  Seems like a good idea, depending on the contract (which I doubt would be too pricey)

Do you consider Scherzer a lock for HOF?
Mark P
12:26
Pretty close to a lock, yes

Does Mark Buehrle deserve to be in the HOF?
Mark P
12:26
I wouldn't vote for him, but he's a first-ballot "Hall Of Very Good" type.  Buehrle had a fantastic career.

Amed Rosario have any trade value for a SP/RP?
Mark P
12:28
Certainly,  He isn't far removed from being a top prospect, and a change of scenery might unlock his potential.  The Mets wouldn't be able to get an ace back for him or anything, but as part of a trade package for a good pitcher, sure

Is Chernoff interviewing for the Mets FO?

Do the tigers roll the dice, take advantage of the lower prices in the market to fill the considerable gaps in there squad and try to become contenders in what may be another shortened season?
Mark P
12:30
I doubt it.  The Tigers are short on players they can definitively point to as surefire contributors in 2021, as their core is still mostly built on promise and potential.

Think yanks would be in on Ha-seong Kim? Hard to pass up a 25 year old slugging shortstop you could have for just money
Mark P
12:33
It makes some sense.  The Yankees are still publicly committed to Torres at shortstop, but I wonder if they'd move him off the position for a player like Kim who is a total rookie to North American baseball (whereas I think they would move Torres for Lindor, Story, etc.)

Signing Kim wouldn't keep the Yankees out of the running from signing one of the big 2021-22 free agent shortstops, but if you're Kim and his agents, you'd have to be asking the Yankees where Kim would play in 2022.  They aren't coming to North America to be a glorified backup.

Time to wrap this chat up, thanks for all the excellent questions!
