I would've voted for Banderas or DiCaprio, Joaquin Phoenix's performance was pretty overrated, imo

If you're talking baseball awards, then no

Does Conforto get a long-term deal this off-season?
Mark P
9:13
I would lean towards no, just because Scott Boras clients usually (though not always) go to free agency.

Whats the first thing I should focus on for my mets?
Mark P

Figuring out this front office situation seems to be at the top of the list

I am a teenager, and i could tell you why young people don't like baseball as much as NBA or NFL. Marketing. When you don't market the players, you don't cater to the fans. That simple. I could elaborate, but not right now.
Mark P
9:18
Marketing individuals is easier in those sports since they can more readily promise excellence in any given game.  If you say "tune in to see Patrick Mahomes or LeBron James," Mahomes and LeBron will be on the field for much of the game, and they'll likely do something cool.

A baseball player, however, only has 4-5 plate appearances and might easily go a full game in the field without having a ball hit their way.  So if you say "tune in to see Trout, Betts, Tatis, etc.", the odds aren't great a casual fan will be too impressed by what they see

You can have one of the two long term. Torres or Judge? I'd lean Torres, given Judge's age and health issues, plus the Yankees surplus in the OF.

Who would you rather have long-term?

Gleyber Torres (67.8% | 270 votes)

Aaron Judge (32.2% | 128 votes)

You really think the Reds cut payroll
Mark P
9:20
The Reds are in a tough spot, since a lot of their highest-paid players underachieved last season, thus lowering their trade values.
9:21
After making such a big push to contend, I can't entirely see the Reds pivot to shedding money and possibly going into a mini-rebuild, pandemic notwithstanding

Will Lester sign for a year? Should he?
Mark P
9:24
In San Francisco?  There's certainly rotation room, and if Lester likes what he hears from the front office (and if the money is right, of course), I can see a deal taking place.  I do wonder if Lester would prefer to sign with a team that is more of a clear-cut contender, however

Will here be a major move at the winter meeting 2020?
Mark P
9:27
Hard to say, since this year's "winter meetings" won't really exist.  A big trade or signing could easily happen during those four days, but such moves could take place at any other point in the offseason calendar as well

Redsox done with JBJ?  Benny to center and springer signing and playing left?
Mark P
9:28
I'm pretty doubtful on the Red Sox making a huge signing like Springer.  Doesn't mean Bradley isn't done in Boston, however.

What jersey/collectible did you buy for a player that didn’t really go anywhere. Mine was Melky Cabrera’s #28 jersey for NYY.
Mark P
9:30
I'm not really a big jersey guy for just that reason.  I'd rather not get stuck with an instantly outdated name on the back.

Now, there is some ironic value in such a jersey years down the road.

What would the Reds have to give up to trade for Story?
Mark P
9:32
Quite a bit in the way of young talent, in theory.

But, it occurs to me that this could be a creative way for the Reds and Rockies to swap some contracts and maybe make the money work out a bit better on either end.  Maybe get Ian Desmond thrown in there too, and the Reds can get a notable salary back Colorado's way.

Where do I end up ?
Mark P

My guess is either a return to Milwaukee on a cheap one-year deal, or retirement.

Absolutely cannot hamstring ourselves by signing the reigning MVP to another 6 or 7 years paying him like an MVP, right? RIGHT?
Mark P
9:36
A six-year deal covers Freeman's age 32-37 seasons, so you're right, that's a big investment in a player as he ages.  That said, Freeman obviously still looks like he's as productive as ever, and there's also some face-of-the-franchise value baked into keeping him in Atlanta for life.
9:37
This is another case where the Acuna/Albies extensions were such a huge victory for the Braves.  Because those deals are so inexpensive, it freed up lots of future monies for the idea of a Freeman extension to maybe become a reality

What are the jays expectations for next year?
Mark P
9:38
They want another postseason appearance, and a much deeper showing than their two-and-out sweep at the Rays' hands.  Depending on how their offseason goes, I wouldn't rule out dark horse World Series contender talk, though I think they're at least a few players away from that level

This offseason, what one thing can the Pirates do to positively influence their future?
Mark P
9:42
This is a broad answer, and it seems they're already doing this to some extent, but it seems like the Pirates are open to trading almost anyone on the roster.  I don't think there's any equivocation about "we have to see what we have" any more, even granted the weird nature of the 2020 season and the lack of proper evaluation.
9:43
That's it for me tonight, thanks for all the questions!
