Depends what they get back in the trade, of course, but losing Snell and Mortion is a big hit to the pitching staff.
I wouldn't underestimate the Rays but even still
Market
2:13
The free agent market is moving slowis this because no one knows if fans will be allowed in the stands?
Mark P
2:14
That's one big reason, yeah.  Plus teams are trying to cut costs after revenue losses in 2020, some teams are wary of long-term labor problems with the CBA up next year, and the "slow play the market" was already being deployed by GMs long before the pandemic

As a lifelong Giants fan, I am losing interest. They are sooooo boring every year. At least sign SOMEBODY that is halfway interesting.
Mark P
2:15
Signing Carl Yastrzemski's grandson, who then turns out to be surprisingly awesome, doesn't count as "halfway interesting"??
Say Hey
2:16
With all the bounce-back seasons (albeit in a short sample), what is the Giants' No. 1 priority: SP, RP or ???
Mark P
2:16
It has to be the rotation.

Is Francisco Lindor the owner of Lindt chocolate company?
Mark P
2:17
Co-owner.  He and former Blue Jays first baseman Adam Lind started the company with nothing but a dream and a love of chocolate.....well, and the millions of dollars each made from playing baseball

Brian Anderson needs to request a trade out of Miami. Who should be interested?
Mark P
2:19
Lots of teams would be interested, but why would Anderson want out?  Team seems to be on the rise.

Does Gio Urshela’s injury/surgery change the Yankees’ plan at all? Also, will DJ Lemahieu get 5 years, $100 million?
Mark P
2:22
Urshela is expected to be back by early-to-middle of March, so assuming the season starts on time, he might need a couple of weeks on the IL just to fully ramp up and make up for the time lost in Spring Training.
As to the second question, LeMahieu won't get that much, but something like $80MM doesn't seem out of the question
Scotty

which team has a winning record the soonest, Tigers or Orioles?
Mark P
2:23
My guess is Detroit, just because their division is easier

Jt realmuto, nomar mazara and Mitch Moreland to the nationals what you think fix all the open holes ? Maybe even taijuan walker as number 4 or 5
Mark P
2:26
I'm not crazy about Mazara but JTR would obviously help a ton and Moreland is still a valuable player.

I like trade for the SS we got what do you think Mark?
Mark P
2:27
Seemed like a good deal, Iglesias is a decent shortstop.  I guess we probably shouldn't have been so surprised that the O's were willing to move Iglesias.
Drew

I know the Twins have youngsters on the way, but Brantley’s OBP would look great in the lead off spot. And insurance for a Cruz departure?
Mark P
2:29
Brantley makes sense in Minnesota but only if they're moving on from Cruz.  Brantley likely needs some regular DH time at this point in his career.

Last time the Pirates and Cubs made a trade with eachother? How about Baez for Polanco?
Mark P
2:32
The last proper trade between the two was the five-player swap in July 2009 that sent Josh Harrison to Pittsburgh
And Baez for Polanco is definitely not happening.  No reason for the Cubs to do that.

Phillies are not in a great place a lot of holes on the MLB roster & depleted farm system. They need to hit the reset button & trade Segura, Hoskins & McCutchen. I’m a believer they need to entertain the idea of trading Bryce Harper.
Mark P
2:35
After investing so much in Harper and Wheeler, and having the likes of Nola, Bohm, Kingery, and Hoskins on the roster, the Phillies kind of can't rebuild.  They're too pot-committed at this point, which makes their situation all the trickier.  Starting another rebuild and kicking the can down the road to 2024 or so would enrage the fanbase
David Dahl

Seeing as my wife is Patrick Mahomes PR guru. Make sense that i end up in KC?
Mark P
2:36
I didn't know about that connection, that's interesting.

Does Odorizzi get 2 yrs?
Mark P

I think he's probably going to get three
James

Any word on which teams are in on Tomoyuki Sugano?
Mark P
2:38
Padres have been mentioned, and I've heard Toronto speculatively mentioned (since they're in on everybody)
John

most surprising non-tender?
Mark P
2:40
Dahl and Archie Bradley were kind of surprising, though they made sense on paper.

Mark P
