RIP
Cardinals fan

Yadi for 10 million per year for 2 years ?
Mark P
12:08
Even with the caveat that Molina is a Cardinals legend, that seems like a lot of money for a catcher who has looked like he's on the decline.

Why do people think that Jo Adell sucks?
Mark P
12:09
Any prospect who isn't immediately a superstar from day one is doomed to failure, I guess.

Snell to LAD for Keibert and Dustin May... Who says no?
Mark P
12:10
Dodgers.  They likely think May will produce something at least in the ballpark of what Snell will deliver over the next three years

With the 1B market pretty bare, any chance La Stella gets a job primarily at first base?
Mark P
12:11
Seems like a bit of a waste of a player with multi-positional versatility, but stranger things have happened
Ben S
12:12
What do you think about Schwarber going to the Nats?
Mark P
12:12
On a one-year deal, I don't hate it.  I would like to see Schwarber on an AL team because I kind of wonder if he's an Encarnacion-type player whose hitting potential will be fully unlocked once he can DH on a regular basis

12:13
Why dont the jays give more chances to their young starters (reid-foley, zeuch, borucki, hatch, etc etc) instead of chasing a whole bunch of veterans? Seems pointless to stockpile young arms if you arent going to use them
Mark P
12:14
"You can never have too much pitching" is a cliche for a reason.  Several of those young arms are going to end up in the bullpen anyway, or could be potential trade chips.
Ray Ray
12:14
If the Rays trade Kiermaier and/ or Snell, SURELY a catcher (s) will be part of the return. Please agree!
Mark P
12:15
I would hope so, given that the Rays' quest to find a reliable long-term catcher has been going on for years

Let’s say Mike Trout finally sees postseason action in 2021. What moves did the Angels make during this offseason to get there?
Mark P
12:16
They acquired another good starting pitcher, Upton and Ohtani had a bounce-back years, Iglesias kept up his 2020 hitting numbers, Fletcher continued to be good, Rendon continued being awesome, and it turned out Jo Adell wasn't a bust after 132 plate appearances.
12:21
Breaking news, looks like the Mets and McCann are close to a deal
Brian
12:22
Why won't the owners just bite the bullet next year and implement a salary cap? The sport would be so much better. Especially in the minds of most fan bases.
Mark P
12:23
First of all, the owners can't unilaterally impose a salary cap.  If they did, the players would immediately strike for at least a year.
Jameison Taillon
12:24
Licking my chops to be traded to the Yankees!!! Anyway you think that can actually happen?
Mark P
12:25
Taillon makes a lot more sense as a trade piece than Bell, since the Yankees are already deep in first basemen

12:25
Do you think there’s any chance at all Dombrowski trades Harper?
Mark P
12:26
I can't imagine what team would be willing or able to take on Harper's contract.  Harper also has a full no-trade clause
Steve
12:27
What happens to Pujols after this season and his contract is up?
Mark P
12:27
He has said he would like to keep playing, but I suspect he'll retire
Jesse
12:27
Gurriel, Danny Jansen, Jordan Groshans for Snell who’d say no?
Mark P
12:28
I would imagine the Rays definitely take that deal, unless even Gurriel's contract is too much for them to take on.  I also don't think the Jays would offer that much for Snell
Robert Manfred
12:29
Mark P, any interest in taking the reigns of becoming the new baseball Commissioner?
Mark P
12:29
As long as I can still run these chats every weekend, sure!

Opinoin on the Nate Lowe trade? I feel that the rangers overpaid for him
Mark P
12:31
Knowing the Rays, at least a couple of those Rangers prospects will turn into future All-Stars.  And the trade ruins my team of a Tampa lineup featuring Lowe, Lowe, and Lowe all hitting consecutively.

But overall, I like the move for both sides.  Texas gets a promising and controllable young bat, the Rays clear up some of their 1B logjam and add more young talent

12:32
Happy Holidays, Mark! What’s your favorite holiday film, and what December hot stove deal is most memorable to you? Thanks!
Mark P
12:34
As a Blue Jays fan, nothing will ever stop the earthshaking Alomar/Carter for McGriff/Fernandez trade of December 1990.  I was a young fan at the time and, while I knew that players could be traded, the idea of the Jays trading two of their stars (and two of my favorites) just blew my mind
As for favorite holiday film.....hmm, Die Hard?
Bobby Bradley
12:35
Now that Santana is gone, will I finally get a chance to play everyday?   Will it be Naylor or Bauers?  I don’t see us getting a FA at 1B
Mark P
12:35
I tend to agree, it seems like the Tribe will give one of the young bats (or rotate them) a chance at first base, unless they can find a veteran bat at a discount

12:36
Realmuto is the perfect fit in Washington.  They need a catcher and they need a righthanded bat to put behind Soto.
Mark P
12:37
Realmuto makes a ton of sense for the Nationals.  However, it remains to be seen how much money they're willing to spend this offseason.  If they have enough to pay JTR, they might prefer to spread that money around for multiple players rather than focus it onto one star

Why do so many fans prefer that there is a salary cap or that big named/ big money players should be traded so that the owners make more money rather than giving it to the players?
