Some fans believe that a hard salary cap would lead to move overall competitiveness within the sport, which I don't necessarily agree with
Minor Leagues
12:41
Shout out and much respect to all the minor league fan bases that lost an affiliate.  It’s tough to see the Trenton Thunder go
Mark P
12:42
It's a tough loss for so many fans around North America.  While I can understand the logistical reasons for why MLB would want a more streamlined minor league system more controlled by the teams, it's a blow to baseball's popularity to cut so many clubs in smaller towns and cities

What do you think about the blue jays going after sonny gray instead of a free agent? With the Reds wanting to reduce payroll, it seems like a great fit
Mark P
12:43
Since the Jays seem to be exploring everyone available, I have zero doubt they've made some calls to the Reds about Gray

Is cole hamels a hall of famer?
Mark P
12:43
I lean towards no
12:44
But it's close, obviously Hamels has had a tremendous career

I’ve played in 63 playoff games and could go down in Houston lore, but I want out. Doesn’t this prove players really do not care about winning?
Mark P
12:45
  1. Springer is already in Houston lore
  2. If Springer doesn't think the Astros will be able to contend going forward, then signing with another team would show he "cares more about winning," no?

Is Snell the sort of pitcher the Padres would dip into their “untouchable” prospects to acquire?  3 years control and super good!  What sort of package would need to be added around a Patino centerpiece?
Mark P
12:48
It would be pretty funny if the Rays asked for Cronenworth back.  But Patino is the type of headliner that would be required....Patino/Campusano (a nod to TB's need for catching) and a low-level guy would probably do it, but I don't know if San Diego would necessarily make that offer

If mccann got 40 million, realmuto has to dig in for 120+ right?
Mark P
12:49
He was already looking to top that amount anyway, though the number of teams willing and able to meet that price is pretty slim

Let's say after another season in the bigs Carter Kieboom still underwhelms and Evan White looks great defensively but still struggles with the bat...would a challenge trade make some sense?
Mark P
12:52
Not really.  First base isn't that difficult of a position to fill, so the Nats would probably prefer to keep trying with Kieboom

Who has the best MiLB team name and why is it the Rocket City Trash Pandas?
Mark P
12:54
I will always shout out the Lansing Lugnuts

What is happing in the desert? Are they re-building or kind of stuck in the middle?
Mark P
12:56
Very quiet offseason for the D'Backs thus far.  Both Hazen and Kendrick both mentioned how 2020 was something of a Murphy's Law type of year for the club, so it could be that they'll mostly run it back with the same roster to see if things improve simply with any luck

Miggy a lock for the Hall?
Mark P
12:57
No doubt
Double or nothing
12:57
do You see the A’s extending chappy or oly anytime soon
Mark P
12:58
I will have to see the A's actually sign one of their bigger stars to a long-term deal before I believe it.  (Khris Davis doesn't really count for "long-term deal" status.)
Big Easy Marquezy
12:59
German Marquez should be one of the top trade targets out there, no?  Affordable control and ace potential outside of Coors

In theory, if the Rockies were looking to sell.  It's hard to tell exactly what the Rockies are planning, really.

Carpenter to the Dodgers to replace Turner ?
Mark P
1:01
I can't imagine the Dodgers or any team has much interest in Carpenter after his last couple of years

Mets are trying to make moves and have money to spend, but are reluctant to give up their top prospects, which complicates a Lindor trade. I keep coming back to a 3-team scenario where the Mets take on a bad contract from a third team (that has a strong farm, is looking to compete in 2021 and needs payroll flexibility) that sends a prospect to Cleveland, and a bad contract to the Mets, to lighten the prospect load they need to trade for Lindor. I thought that Miller/Carpenter from Stl or Kiermaier from TB, but wanted to see what you think
Mark P
1:02
A three-team trade makes some sense, though they're also a lot trickier to arrange.

Was the David Dahl signing a steal?
Mark P
1:03
There isn't much risk for the Rangers at the price of $3MM.  Obviously Dahl is a big injury risk but there's plenty of upside.
1:05
That's it for me, thanks for all the questions!
