Off the top of my head, Scherzer's FA deal with Washington, Derek Jeter's extension with the Yankees, Manny's FA deal with Boston, I guess maybe you can count Corbin's deal with Washington under the "flags fly forever" point, Holliday's extension with the Cardinals, Lester's deal with the Cubs.....
You're not wrong in saying that a lot of long contracts (especially free agent contracts) end up not really working out, but there are just enough successes that teams will always have interest

Does a package of Adell and a top 15 pitching prospect to the Reds in return for Castillo and taking on the remainder of OF Castellanos contract work? Who says no?

I think the Reds might want a couple other second-tier prospects thrown in there, but you're on the right track

Should the White Sox, once they decided to make Dunning available, have gone after a pitcher with more than one year of control?  Seems they could have done better.

It's a fair argument to make, though we don't know exactly what kinds of offers were out there.  The Sox might have also wanted to get a deal done sooner rather than later, just to lock in Lynn before another team traded for him

What do you think would be a fair price to bring Snell home to Seattle?  I would hate to see our 1 of our top 5 prospects sent away.  Would it take one of those at least?

Two, at least

Merry Christmas everyone! Is it possible the Red Sox will trade Bogaerts or Devers for prospects or do they fancy themselves too good a team to do that?
Mark P

That's not happening.  I don't think the Sox see themselves as being non-competitive for very long

Seattle at least should be thinking about Ha-Seong Kim right? With 2b is open competition and Seager leaving after 21, M's could use him. How much would he get on the market?

M's make a whole lot of sense for Kim.
Latest reports say Kim has received five-year offers from multiple teams, I wouldn't at all be surprised if Seattle is one of them.

Family Guy or Trailer Park Boys

As a Canadian, I'm obligated to say Trailer Park Boys.  Plus, it actually is the better show.

And on that note, let's wrap up this doozy of a chat after almost 2.5 hours.  Thanks for all the questions, and I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!
