That looks like yet another under-the-radar clever acquisition for Farhan Zaidi's front office

Chances of a Salary cap under the next CBA....70/30?
Mark P

The MLBPA will never accept a full cap, pandemic or no pandemic

Draft pick: Why not give the first pick to the best record among the 6 Last Place finishers. It would discourage tanking because it would reward the best of the worst.

I like the idea.  It doesn't totally eliminate teams from tanking, but it does introduce more of a pro-competition element to the mix

Does Christian Yelich finish his contract in Milwaukee?
Mark P

Interesting question.  I would slightly (60%) lean towards no based on plain economics.

Bryant, Baez, Hendricks for Polanco and Larnach. Who says no?
Mark P

Chicago would want way more than that if they're moving all three guys in a single trade

Rusney got screwed by the system man

I don't disagree.  He surely would've been back in the majors at some point but just got stuck in a contractual Catch-22

Do the Padres sign Nelson Cruz?
Mark P
8:52
Since the Padres are in total go-for-it mode, I guess it can't be ruled out.  But they already seem to have a position player surplus, so signing Cruz and locking up the DH spot (which may not yet exist in the NL) would seem unusual

Kenny Lofton should be in the HOF. Baseball needs more exciting speedsters like him
Mark P

I'm not sure Lofton quite makes my HOF cut, but he's certainly a guy who merited more consideration on the ballot.  Joe Posnanski recently wrote about Lofton as part of a series on the best players not in Cooperstown, noting that Lofton was a victim of that logjam of HOF candidates earlier this decade

I know the Sox have Vaughn coming, but he hasn't played above A. Any chance they sign Cruz, in part to weaken their biggest division rival?
Mark P

Now the White Sox, there's a team that might make more sense as a Cruz suitor.  Even signing Cruz for two seasons isn't that major a roadblock for Vaughn, and it makes Chicago's lineup way more dangerous in the short term.  Ideally the Sox would want a player who can play the field rather than just a pure DH, but Cruz is a good enough hitter that it might not happen to them
That's it for me tonight, thanks for all the questions!
