Who is the greatest Blue Jay you have seen play?
Mark P
8:12
Got to go with Roy Halladay.  He was money for the Jays year in and year out.  Just an outstanding pitcher.
Jim C
8:13
Any chance the Yankees trade Ottavino and his 9 million dollar contract for a starter?
Mark P
8:13
Maybe as part of a bad contract swap or something, since I can't see teams lining up to trade someone of value for a high-priced reliever coming off a rough season.

How do the Indians continue to pump out high level SP at the major league level? Are they lucky on the acquiring of amateur talent or are they just really good at developing?
Mark P
8:16
Obviously they know what they're doing over there, and it isn't surprising you've seen some Cleveland personnel hired away by other teams over the last couple of years for pitching coach/pitching coordinator jobs

Ryan Howard’s peak power years
Mark P
8:17
I feel like Howard became more known for his injuries and his big contract, but as time goes by, more people will remember back to his days as a masher in the Philly lineup.  He had a lot of excellent years, and helped the Phils win a championship.

RIP Tommy Lasorda. My favorite Lasorda story is this. On a whim, I sent a letter to his home address along with his biography. In the letter, I explained that I employ a similar leadership style in my career and that I learned those characteristics by watching him lead. Three days after sending the letter my wife called me at work and said I had a package from Lasorda. I told her mine must have been sent back and she said that it was actually the self addressed stamped envelope from inside the package I had sent. I rushed home to find that Mr. Lasorda had autographed my book with a personal inscription and sent me multiple autographed pictures. He also wrote a note responding to some of the points I had made in my letter, which showed me that he had indeed taken the time to actually read my letter. What a guy! Most people would have been mildly annoyed at best to have received the request at their home address. Amazing!

Very cool story!  RIP to a Dodgers legend
Mike Rizzo

Do you think Schwarber was a good signing?
Mark P
8:20
Rizzo = Nationals GM

I do, since Schwarber strikes me as someone in need of a change of scenery.

Can the Phillies land German Marquez?
Mark P
8:21
That would take a big trade package of young talent, which is something the Phillies don't have a lot of
Dodgers

Why don't we go out and trade for Kris Bryant? Would Kiebert Ruiz get the job done at this point since Bryant only has a year left and is coming off a down year? We already have Will Smith at catcher with Barnes backing him up and Cartaya as the next big thing. Our #2 prospect, Ruiz, would seem to be a great trade match for the Cubs.
Mark P
8:23
Ruiz and a couple of minor prospects for Bryant is a deal the Cubs would likely do, but I'm not certain it's necessarily on LA's radar.  If they're willing to move Ruiz, you can get quite a lot for a top-prospect catcher, so perhaps pitching (from a team other than the Cubs) would be the play there rather than acquiring a year of Bryant

What's the better gamble pitcher or hitter on a 10 year stupid contract?
Mark P
8:25
I'd say a hitter, just because they provide more day-to-day value
Dallas
8:27
Which happens first, league announces NL DH situation or Bluejays home game location?
Mark P
8:28
I would imagine the DH.  A decision on the Jays' home games might not happen until well into March, since they'd want to wait as long as possible before confirming that playing in Toronto isn't feasible
Addison
8:28
So with Trevor and Fields off the board, who do the Bears take to replace Mitch?
Mark P
8:29
I think the Bears should sign Trubisky to a 10-year contract.

Why yes, I'm a Green Bay fan, why do you ask?

Why didn’t anyone take a chance on me? I’m not that old!
Mark P
8:32
He essentially hasn't played in the majors in five years, and didn't have much of a MLB track record whatsoever.  No surprise that Castillo took a deal to play in Japan
Justin Turner
8:32
Where do I end up and what does the contract look like?
Mark P
8:32
Two years with a vesting option for a third season.  And I think he ends up with the Dodgers again

I feel like the Yankees are using the DJ situation to not actually do anything- can’t sign or trade anyone until DJ makes a decision. And when he finally does, they can say they don’t have any money left or that no one is left to sign. Thoughts?
Mark P
8:34
Since there are so many players still on the market, the "nobody left to sign" excuse won't fly.  Like I said, I find it hard to believe the Yankees would just totally stand pat if DJ went elsewhere, unless ownership is dead set on resetting the luxury tax penalty.  (Which seems very short-sighted.)

8:35
Could I sign with Oakland?
Mark P
8:36
That would make some sense.  If the most closer-needy teams ends up signing the other guys, that might lower Colome's price to the point that A's can enter the picture

Any chance the padres trade Jake Cronenworth ? It seems like that may be a possibility since they now have depth in the infield .
Mark P
8:38
Cronenworth would be a heck of a trade chip, but I would lean against such a move.  The Padres don't yet know how Kim will fare against MLB pitching, so if Cronenworth was dealt and Kim ends up struggling, suddenly there's an issue at 2B

Any chance the Jays make a push to pull Chapman away from the A's? I can see a trade working out on both ends!
Mark P
8:40
Trading a star third baseman to Toronto has never gone wrong for the Athletics before, no sir!

There isn't yet any indication that the A's are open to moving Chapman, even if such a move might eventually seem inevitable.

Do you think Rays call up Wander Franco in 2021 right after super two deadline to ensure max service time?
Mark P
8:41
That would be a very aggressive promotion for Franco, considering his age and lack of upper-level minor league experience.  I wouldn't be shocked if Franco was in the bigs closer to the end of the 2021 season, but an early-season call-up doesn't seem too likely

Giants with a tremendous pick up on Matt Wisler, and his 1.07 ERA on 83% sliders.
