Not to me, but the White Sox seem to disagree. As good as the White Sox offseason has been, I never really cared for locking a guaranteed $7MM into Eaton. Would've liked to have seen Springer or at least someone like Joc Pederson there.

2:19
Who do you believe Boston will sign as their "big signing?" will Kluber signing be a domino effect, or will Bauer sign before he does?
Connor Byrne
2:20
Nobody all that notable to Boston. Jose Quintana seems to fit as an innings eater for a rotation in need of that type, and I think we predicted him to BOS at the start of the offseason. I expect Kluber to sign before Bauer.

Padres kicking tires on Tanaka - is this likely more about an even more dominating rotation or worries about Lamet?
Connor Byrne
2:21
It just seems like they're going for it, so I wouldn't necessarily say it's about worries centering on Lamet. But it would be nice to further strengthen the rotation in the event Lamet does deal with setbacks.

What is the max you would pay Bauer to play one year if you’re Arte Moreno?
Connor Byrne
2:21
In general, and without having the Angels' projected payroll atop my head, $45MM at the most.
Perry
2:23
45m for Bauer? Wow. Guess I know why you’re not a GM
Connor Byrne
2:24
I mean, the lower the length of the contract, the higher the AAV. Bauer is looking for 30-some mill on a multiyear deal right now. I don't think 45 as a one-year max for the reigning Cy Young winner is outlandish.
Astros
2:24
What will we do with our bullpen??
Connor Byrne
2:25
They did just get Pedro Baez, and I expect a bigger addition, whether that's someone like Hand, Rosenthal or along those lines
Boras
2:26
Which may take a 1 yr deal?  Odorizzi, Paxton, Kluber, Wainwright, Quintana, Arrieta, Hamels
Connor Byrne
2:26
Probably everyone there but Odorizzi and Quintana
Perry
2:26
He pitched against weak central teams and no history of pitching at that level
Connor Byrne
2:26
Bauer was pretty dominant in Cleveland at times
James Click
2:27
What should I do with my outfielder situation??
Connor Byrne
2:28
James Click = Astros GM. Springer appears to be gone, so I'd like to see both Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. added. Get two-thirds of the Boston outfield band back together.
Erstad fan

As an angel fan is it premature to become nervous we haven't updated the rotation yet?
Connor Byrne
2:29
I wouldn't say that yet. New GM Perry Minasian is working on it, but things are moving slowly. They'll get something done - hopefully something better than the Harvey/Cahill/Teheran signings of recent past.
Perry Minasian

Which starter(a) do you think I end up with at the end of the offseason?
Connor Byrne
2:31
Speak of the devil. I've always liked Tanaka there if they can't get Bauer.

Central champs 80 wins.  Over/under
Connor Byrne
2:32
Give me 82 right now. We'll see if anyone bothers to do anything between now and the season.

Is Tommy La Stella going to get a starting job or would he take a utility role? Would 2yrs/$10M be enough to bring the North Jersey native to Queens, split time with JD Davis at third?
Connor Byrne
2:34
I think he's good enough to start for something. He sort of reminds me of a very poor man's, left-handed DJ LeMahieu, based on what he did in the previous two seasons. La Stella has shown he can produce on offense & he basically never strikes out. 2/10 isn't nuts, but I think he'll get 2-4 mill more than that.
*someone, not something
Dodger dog
2:34
Would the dodgers give Turner 4 years if the NL allows the DH?
Connor Byrne
2:34
No, don't see them going to that length for JT under any circumstance
Shoeless Joe was framed.
2:35
Does Kiki Hernandez make sense with the Padres? I'm thinking of him in a Profar role, if they can't get Profar back.
Connor Byrne
2:36
Doesn't seem like the type of move they're looking to make. At last check, Dennis Lin of The Athletic - who tends to be right - reported they're probably done adding bench pieces.

Another year, another Yankees v. Dodgers World Series (this prediction courtesy of MLB.com) Seems the Yankees are always the darlings of the preseason picks, but always fall short. Is it as simple as injuries or is it just a flawed roster with big names in a major market that gets too much love?
Connor Byrne
2:37
I don't know how you make a Yankees WS prediction when their best position player isn't even on the roster at the moment.

Where will Archie Bradley end up?  He is a very good reliever with multiple teams in dire straits over there bullpen.
Connor Byrne
2:38
Too many possibilities to guess. He's definitely flying under the radar as a really good reliever who's just sitting out there.
Former Mike Stanton
2:38
Have we seen the best of Giancarlo Stanton?
Connor Byrne
2:39
Yes, but he's still quite good when healthy
Chip
2:39
Connor, when does the league get serious about the fact that roughly 75% of teams are making no effort to actually improve themselves? They will point to profit losses from COVID, but this trend has been going on for years and it is ruining the game.
Connor Byrne
2:39
I don't disagree. It's frustrating and doing baseball no favors in the public eye.

Do you feel the Jays will go after one of cincy’s starting pitchers
Connor Byrne
2:41
Everyone that wants to contend should be calling on Gray and Castillo (minus Gray in the Yankees' case). Whether CIN will move either is the question.
