Some combo of Odor, Solak, or Charlie Culberson.  Ultimately they're just keeping the seat warm for Josh Jung, who could be in the big leagues as early as 2022

If the Jays offered Martin, Woods-Richardson, and Kirk for Jose Ramirez, would the Spiders laugh and hang up the phone, or could that get the conversation going?
Mark P
8:42
It would get the conversation going, but it's a sign of how valuable Ramirez is that the Jays would have to add more to that already impressive offer

Any thoughts as to why the Yankees weren't in on Bauer?
Mark P
8:44
He would've put them over the luxury tax limit

Are the Mets wishing they had held onto Steven Matz now? His salary will seem small compared to Odorizzin or probably even Rich Hill, surely small enough to gamble on a rebound this spring.
Mark P
8:45
I don't think the Mets are regretting that one too much.  Even with the chance they wouldn't land Bauer, a Mets team in need of pitching depth was still willing to part ways with Matz, so that says something

talent gap between my club and LAD and SD just from wide to catastrophically enormous....What do I do?
Mark P
8:46
(Farhan Zaidi = Giants POBO)

Add some players next winter with the tons of payroll space coming off the books, which I what I think the Giants will definitely do

Where are the Jays playing home games next year? I live near Buffalo no one seems to be saying anything yet
Mark P
8:48
I think it has to be Dunedin, since the Bisons have Buffalo spoken for.  Sharing having both the Bisons and Blue Jays share Sahlen Field in Buffalo would be too difficult, whereas in Dunedin, the single-A games could maybe be moved to the backfields?

There is no perfect answer, unfortunately

Originally it was suggested Our payroll would drop in the $85 million range. We are now sitting at $87 million and still rumored to be looking to add more players. How much more payroll do I have to work with?
Mark P
8:50
(Stearns = Brewers' GM)

It could be that ownership has made more funds available, with a couple of extra months to evaluate 2020's revenue losses and analyze what's coming in 2021.

Freddie freeman is obviously a Braves HOF’er, but if he doesn’t sharply decline in his thirties, does he have a legitimate shot at the big boy hall?
Mark P
8:52
I'd think so, certainly.  Adding a big honor like an MVP Award helps, plus he might have the cache of being a single-team guy for his entire career.  Obviously it'd further help if the Braves won a WS while he was there.

Actor Of Work, by St. Vincent

Any chance I move Bogaerts to free up payroll and collect prospects. There are so many top notch shortstops in FA next year.
Mark P
8:54
I strongly doubt Bogaerts is being traded.  Why jump through all those hoops when you could just keep the star shortstop you already have?

TB trades Adames, and Wendle is the placeholder for Franco?! Yikes. How far off is Franco?
Mark P
8:56
Franco has never played beyond single-A ball, but he did work out at the Rays' alternate training site last year and the team liked what they saw.  The lost 2020 minor league season throws a wrench into normal prospect projections, but it seems like nobody would be shocked if Franco was in the big leagues by late in the season

Do you think $14 million is too much for Didi?
Mark P
8:59
Two years and $28MM is less than I thought he would get, so it seems like a nice move for the Phillies

Do the Reds use the Bauer Compensation Pick (#30) as a trade chip, or keep it?
Mark P
9:02
FA compensation picks can't be traded.  The only picks that can be dealt are in the Competitive Balance Rounds, and the Reds also have a selection there (35th overall).

I would probably think Cincinnati keeps that pick

We're close to two hours here, so time to sign off.  Thanks for all the questions!
