Since Seager is a Boras client, I wonder if the Dodgers are quietly expecting him to leave in free agency, so they're already preparing for a post-Seager strategy of adding other talent and leaving themselves open to add another shortstop next winter
Kershaw strikes me as a Dodgers lifer.

How do you feel about the dodgers pitching now.
Mark P
8:09
I felt pretty great about it even before Bauer was signed

Is Keston Hiura on the block given the Brewers interest in Choo at 1b?
Mark P
8:10
Not at all.  Choo would be a part-timer, maybe essentially a replacement for Ryan Braun.  Hiura is still a big part of Milwaukee's future plans

A lot of talk about who get's squeezed out of the Dodgers rotation with the signing of Bauer, however, I don't think that is the way to look at it. Guys like May, Urias, Gonsolin, didn't pitch a lot of innings for a full-track development year. Those guys will need to be managed innings limit-wise. Price, Kersh, Buehler, and Bauer, one year probably doesn't hurt them so much. I think the Dodgers set-up actually gives Bauer a shot at pitching every 4 days. Thoughts?
Mark P
8:13
Agreed.  Like I said earlier about Price, the Dodgers love their pitching depth.  Having essentially a seven-man rotation is a big plus, and allows them to be flexible in rest days, or even letting Bauer pitch on a more regular basis.

Is Aaron Sanchez still pitching?  He's only 28 years old and was quite good not that long ago.
Mark P
8:15
We haven't heard anything about Sanchez since November, when Scott Boras said his client had been throwing for several teams.

Teams could be circling back to Sanchez now that spring training approaches and I suspect he'll end up somewhere as camps open up.  Still plenty of potential there for clubs to have interest.

Will Yadier Molina resign with the Cards, what are the odds? Also what are the odds for another team to swoop in and sign him
Mark P
8:18
Reports last week indicated that Molina and the Cards were close to a deal: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/01/yadier-molina-expected-to-re-si...
Could be that a deal has been agreed upon in a handshake capacity, and it'll become official once the Caribbean Series is done

I'd the LAA fail to make the playoffs do they seriously look at trading Trout?
Mark P
8:20
Nope.
Not unless Trout himself indicated he wanted out, and there is no hint of real dissatisfaction on his part
I mean, other than the general dissatisfaction he undoubtedly feels about missing out on the postseason

Concerned about Lamet's health. Don't think the young arms are ready yet. Should the Pads look at adding a Hamels, Porcello or Arrieta type veteran innings eater?
Mark P
8:22
Part of me wonders if loading up on good starters was the Padres' way of hinting that they might be worried about Lamet (in addition to already losing Clevinger)
Dave Stieb
8:23
Do I need to come out of retirement or will the Jays get some good starters?
Mark P
8:23
If a Stieb comeback helps him get into the HOF where he belongs, I'm all for it
What's the Story
8:24
What would the Yankees have to part with to get Story? Is a package headlined by Andujar and a mid-level pitching or SS prospect, with a couple high upside A-ballers get it done given that he’s not cheap by arbitration standards and only has a year left before free agency?
Mark P
8:24
Judging by what the Rockies got for Arenado, Colorado might offer Story and half his salary for just the A-ball prospects

Breaking Bad or Sons of Anarchy?
Mark P
8:27
Never saw SoA, whereas Breaking Bad is one of my all-time favourite shows

With Pedro Leon in the shadows for next year, should Click try to get JBJ on a one-year, $10 million-ish type deal?  If he accepted a year, is that enough to get it done?
Mark P
8:29
If Bradley is aiming for a four-year deal or more, I don't think he'll go all the way down to a one-year deal unless his market totally collapses

Am I only one finding it odd that a team didnt try signing Tanaka more? Very steady pitcher over the years and seems like would havebt been roi expensive seeing what he got going back to Japan.  Shocked Angel's didnt sign him
Mark P
8:30
This is just speculation on my part, but I wonder if he didn't really want to pitch anywhere besides New York or Japan.
8:31
I'm sure he would have gone to the Angels or elsewhere if someone had met his asking price, but without any takers, it wasn't worth it for him

Any chance Matt Shoemaker signs with the Jays again? He's good when healthy, wouldn't cost much & seems like a good guy
Mark P
8:35
It's possible, but the Jays already seem to have a lot of back-of-the-rotation types.

Wouldn't pushing back the season a bit be in the players' best interests? In other industries the union is all over health, safety and working conditions, not just opposing management because it doesn't know what else to do.
Mark P
8:37
The proposal from the owners contained aspects like Rob Manfred having greater leeway over rescheduling or canceling games, plus the expanded postseason.  Also, any agreement to alter the CBA means that the CBA is now open for further negotiations, and the players don't want to fall into that morass.
8:38
In a vacuum, I'm sure there is a lot of sentiment within the MLBPA to push the season back a month.  But they (with good reason) don't trust the league or the owners to hold up their end of the bargain when it comes to keeping salaries in place
