Not sure if it's going to Rasmus in RF. All I know is that it probably wasn't going to be you there on Opening Day. You jumped straight from AA and struggled in the Majors. Tear it up in AAA and we'll probably see you in the Majors around mid-season.

Who has the better year: Austin Jackson or Carlos Gomez? I thought Gomez would be a fit in SF if they could fit him in under the tax...
AvatarJason Martinez

Gomez. Giants expect Jackson to be a part-time player. I think he'll play more early in the season but could lose at-bats to Steven Duggar by June or July. Gomez, if he stays healthy, could get 600 PAs. He hasn't done that since 2014, though.

If Angels 6 man rotation successful will more teams go to it?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:22
The "6-man rotation" will probably involve a 6th starter being called up to the Majors to make a start and optioned to the minors the following day. A reliever would join the team in his place. That starter would make his next start or two in AAA and likely return to the Majors 10-15 days later and push everyone else in the rotation back a day.
5:23
Teams did this last season so it's nothing new. I can't see a team, even the Angels, keeping 6 starting pitchers on the active roster and have them pitch in order. If Garrett Richards is healthy, he doesn't need to wait 6-7 days to make his next start.

Will Willie Calhoun get 500 ABs. Is he as good as advertised?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:25
Left-handed hitter with 31 HR and only 61 K as a 22-year old in AAA. That was a hitter's league, but still very impressive. I think he deserves 500 PAs. At this point, I think he'll be close.

What is your favorite movie?  Also how much leash will the Marlins give Lewis Brinson?  Will he sink or swim in Miami?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:28
Top 3 are ... 1. A Bronx Tale. 2. Coming To America. 3. Major League.
5:30
As things stand, I think they'll give Brinson 550+ PAs. But there are so many veteran FAs out there who could be signed for cheap (Jon Jay, Seth Smith, Melky, Jose Bautista) and used as trade chips in July. Makes too much sense to bring one of them in and give Brinson another month or two in AAA.

Where is lackey signing?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:32
I don't think I've heard one Lackey rumor. He hasn't retired, but I'm guessing he could call it quits if he's not given a decent offer (at least $8-$10MM).

Where does Greg Holland end up?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:35
Tough call. Cardinals, Angels and Dbacks could use him in the closer's role. Jays and Dodgers could really use an 8th inning setup man. No team is giving him Wade Davis money, though. Not sure ho much lower his price will go.

Are the Twins done adding pitching?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:38
I think they've done a pretty good job, but I'm not going to argue if they sign Lynn or Cobb. Their young starting pitchers all have options so there is still room for one more. Santana, Berrios, Lynn, Odorizzi, Gibson/Mejia/Gonsalves is pretty darn good.

What LH relievers are available for the Red Sox to acquire?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:40
Free agent lefties ... Oliver Perez, Francisco Liriano, Kevin Siegrist. Likely trade candidates ... Dan Jennings (TB), Luis Avilan (CWS).

Are the Mets worth investing in an mlb.tv package this year?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:42
It's probably worth it just to watch Noah Syndergaard start every 5-6 days. They can be good. A lot of guys coming back from injury so you never know how that will go, but that's a really good roster on paper.

Should the Rangers sign an another relief pitcher?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:43
Didn't you hear? They just signed Jesse Chavez!
5:45
I actually think they're OK. They could add another late-inning guy in case Matt Bush sticks in the rotation. Even if he does start, I think he'll end up back in the 'pen for at least the last 2 months of the season.

If you could only watch one historic baseball game for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

4/15/47. Jackie's debut.

Do Judge,Stanton,Sanchez,Didi,and Bird hit 200+ Homer’s ?
AvatarJason Martinez

Hold on. Let me count up my projections.
I got 195. Close.

I don't see the Angels adding someone like Holland.  Blake Parker is more than capable as the closer, and if they are going to add payroll, it would probably be for a starting pitcher that can eat innings.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:49
Agreed on both points. However, I can see them jumping in if the price falls far enough. Doesn't matter who is closing. Just adds another good late-inning reliever and takes some stress off a rotation filled with guys coming back from injury.

Does Danny Duffy end the season in a Royals uniform?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:51
Very unlikely. That team is not going to compete for a playoff spot. Duffy would likely be one of the top July trade candidates.

5:52
Should the rockies resign Mark Reynolds?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:53
Yep. Platoon partner with McMahon. He can get more at-bats if McMahon struggles.
Devil Rays
5:55
Thoughts on Rays starting the year with a 4 man rotation? They always zag when everyone else is zigging.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:55
They won't be the only team. Teams can usually skip the 5th spot at least once to start the season due to off day(s). Crazy that the Rays have enough off-days to get thru April with 4 starters.

5:55
What do the Dbacks do with Tomás after the Souza and Dyson signings.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:57
He could be the primary right-handed hitter off the bench and get an occasional start in LF vs a left-hander. Wouldn't surprise me if he's released, though. Teams like more versatile players on their bench.
