Likely. Too much $ invested and too good of a track record. I think he'll get to play regularly out of the break. Bader/O'Neill will eventually get their chance. Just not quite yet.

Would tony kemp be an option for zach Britton?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:20
I think the Orioles would want a younger prospect with more upside. Maybe they can get both.

5:21
Now that Machado has been moved, who do you see as the next major piece to be moved?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:22
Moustakas, Eduardo Escobar and Brian Dozier all come to mind. I think we'll at least get some Realmuto rumors, but I'm not ready to say he'll probably get traded. Makes more sense in the offseason.

5:22
what are Pittsburgh Pirates are doing
AvatarJason Martinez
5:24
Not much. They'll probably trade Mercer (for not much in return) and will gauge interest in Felipe Vazquez. They are working him like crazy, though. Not exactly good for his trade value.

5:24
Do the Mariners have a shot to get Archer.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:25
I doubt the Rays will trade him and the Mariners don't have the prospects to get a deal done.
Joe
5:26
Does Jerry Dipoto stand pat? The Mariners are in clear need of a SP
AvatarJason Martinez
5:26
Dipoto never stands pat!
5:27
Doesn't have the trade chips, but that hasn't stopped him before. The man likes to make trades. With that said, his MLB roster is really good right now so I doubt he does anything more than adding to back of rotation/bench/bullpen.

You think the Brew Crew should go after deGrom?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:30
Yes, but I don't think they will. More likely to add a 2B (Dozier, Gennett, Escobar, Merrifield, Asdrubal, Kinsler are all options).
Ken Caminiti
5:32
Padres do not appear to have a 3B of the future.  What prospect can they target in a trade at the deadline?  Assuming this could be a 3B or a SS (and move Tatis to 3B).  What would it take to get that prospect?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:34
They really like Hudson Potts (1st Rd pick in '16; .870 OPS in HiA) so I think they have at least 1 candidate for a 3B of the future. But I've been saying that the 3B on the next contending Padres team will be a veteran free agent/trade acquisition. Need another impact bat. Hosmer-Myers-Moustakas would be pretty cool.

Kyle tucker started slowly in his few games for Houston since his call-up. Please give me your projections of his production rest of way?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:36
They have enough firepower throughout their lineup so they can afford to be patient with him. He caught fire after 2 months in AAA, so I wouldn't be surprised if he can figure it out sooner than later and make an impact in August/September.

Where do I land outside of Minny?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:38
Milwaukee makes a lot of sense. Not too many other teams in need of a 2B. Maybe the Red Sox if they've given up on Pedroia returning to health in '18.

Where do you see the Braves, Phillies, and Nationals at the end of the season?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:39
Nationals look terrible and are only 5.5 games out. Braves and Phillies are young. We'll see what they do at the trade deadline, but I'd put my $ on the Nats getting it together and passing both ATL and PHI for good by end of August.
Jessie
5:40
please tell me phillies are at least getting something
AvatarJason Martinez
5:40
Almost certain they'll add a SS or 3B.

Make a prediction, is Diaz the best prospect that will be traded this July?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:42
No. I think a young frontline SP (at least 2+ years of club control) will be traded. Will need a better prospect than Diaz to get one of those deals done.
Nate
5:43
Braves give up Alex Jackson and Max Fried plus an couple younger pitching prospects for Britton and Jones?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:44
I think the Braves like Fried too much to give him up for a rental(s). He has way too value with 6 years of control.
Brian
5:45
What do you think the Angels will do? With Richards out, anyone else they could trade at this point that would make sense to plan for 2019?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:47
Their late-inning relievers are most likely (Blake Parker, Cam Bedrosian, Justin Anderson, Jim Johnson). Maybe Kinsler if he plays well out of the break, but they wouldn't get much in return. Their best trade chips are Skaggs and Heaney, but their value is increasing with every good start. Sounds like they're staying put.
Paul
5:48
Could the Marlins move Castro? Thanks
AvatarJason Martinez
5:49
Doubtful. Probably too many other 2B options (listed in response to previous question) and not enough teams looking for a 2B.

Who gets pushed off the Dodgers 25-man for Machado?  DFA Logan Forsythe?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:51
I think they'll just send Toles down or go with a 7-man bullpen for now. Forsythe has been disappointing, but I don't know if they have to cut ties with him at this point. They already cleared the 40-man spot with Valera going to Baltimore in the trade.
Dozier
5:51
What would a deal for Dozier to the Brewers look like? Hiura? Burnes?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:53
No, they won't trade one of their best prospects for a rental. They have some good arms in the 10-20 range of their system.
Stro no show
5:55
Hi Mr Martinez, Should Blue Jays trade Marcus Stroman now? Thanks.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:56
They should be open to trading him with a high price tag. They have all the leverage. Doesn't hurt to find out if a team is willing to meet their price.

5:56
Do the Padres attempt to pursue Machado in offseason?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:58
Wouldn't surprise me if they're mentioned as a possibility early in the process and are mentioned later in the process than anyone expects. But I doubt that the amount they're willing to offer is anywhere close to at least a few of the big market teams. So it will be a fun rumor in November, but not very realistic.
