Twins aren’t sellers?  If you were GM, what would you do?
AvatarJason Martinez

Still in wait-and-see mode. Adding Odorizzi and Lynn weren't moves for just 2018, but they thought it would take them to the next level so I think they have to wait another month and hope to get within 5 games of the Indians.

Is Britton a still a late inning threat or is he past his prime?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:16
Should be fine. 0 runs allowed in 6 of his 7 appearances since returning from the DL. A bit rusty since he hasn't pitched much in the last year, but I expect him to return to his pre-injury form. Only 30 yrs old.

Who plays 2B for the Red Sox in October?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:17
Brandon Phillips!
5:18
No, just kidding. I don't think that. I'd guess some combination of Pedroia/Nuñez. Pedroia just needs to be patient and not rush back
David Sterns
5:19
Any sneaky under the radar rotation upgrades you see me going after?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:20
Maybe Tyson Ross, but I really do think he sticks with what he has. Zach Davies will be back soon. Jimmy Nelson could help in the 2nd half. And Freddy Peralta is very good.
Enrique Martinez
5:22
Do u see dbacks dfa Avila and going after a better catcher or just another bat in general?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:23
By placing him on the DL, they give him a chance to rest and then hopefully get back on track after a rehab assignment. They have to pay him either way, so I doubt they would DFA him as long as he's not 100% healthy.
5:24
I think the return of A.J. Pollock should be enough.

Who is the best player in MiLB that will debut and make an impact on the postseason race?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:25
Kyle Tucker, Houston Astros
Justin Bour
5:26
Who's the more interesting trade target right now, me or Derek Dietrich?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:26
Dietrich.
Versatility > 1B only.  Especially when it comes to contenders. Most are already very good and have 1B/DH that can hit. All could use a versatile, lefty bat.

Does Soria have much trade value?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:28
Yes. He didn't a month ago, but he's been lights out over his last 15 appearances.
5:29
Of course, that doesn't mean the trade return will be anyone you've heard of before. But Soria should have plenty of interest.

Is Julio Urias throwing yet?  It's hard to find anything on Google, and his Twitter is spanish

5:32
Injury updates are scarce when it comes to shoulder injuries. Very unpredictable recovery process. I read that he threw a bullpen last week and hit 88 MPH. That's good news since he normally sits in the low 90's.

Jason, in your opinion what would it take to get Jed Lowrie to Atlanta to play third?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:35
Braves have so much pitching depth. I wonder if they'd give up Fried or Gohara for 3 months of Lowrie. That's what it might take unless the A's really like a few of the team's lesser-known low-level prospects.

What the heck happened to Christian Villanueva? Did the league just figure him out?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:38
I'd phrase it as he's not doing a very good job adjusting to the adjustments that were made against him. It's what separates an MLB regular from a AAAA/bench guy.

5:38
What could Blake Treinen bring back? He has a couple more years before free agency.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:40
Value on the rise. If the Braves packaged Lowrie and Treinen, I could see the A's getting back one of their better pitching prospects not named Allard or Soroka. And more.
Foxx Muldarr
5:42
If Danny Duffy is the 2nd "biggest piece" dealt, that's one sad trade deadline.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:44
If we use my "every player has a price" rule, then it's much more interesting. But, in reality, it's the players with expiring contracts who are most likely to get traded and maybe a few other relievers with 2-3 years of control remaining. Aside from that, there could be a handful of surprises.
5:45
It's the potential surprises, even if we only get 1-2, that make it more interesting.
Nats Needs
5:45
What do you think the Nats do at the deadline?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:47
Already got their reliever. If anything, maybe a starter for the back of the rotation. Not sure if they'll be aggressive enough to land someone who could be the 3rd starter behind Scherzer-Strasburg in a playoff series.

5:47
Trade value of Adam Ottavino?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:48
If the Rockies sell, he could be one of the top 3 relievers available. He has a 1.00 ERA and 14.0 K/9.

What would it take to lure Eduardo Escobar away from the Twins if they decide to sell? FA to be, unlikely to get QO, but having a very good year.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:51
Should have interest from just about every contender. Plays every position and can hit. Dude is on pace for 70 doubles!
5:52
Hold on, let me make sure I'm reading that correctly.
Yes, he's on pace for 70 doubles. That would be an MLB record.
5:53
6 players had 60+ doubles from 1926-1936. Todd Helton had 59 doubles in 2000.
