Does Trevor May get a shot at starting the season in the rotation? Or is he back in the pen?
Jason Martinez
5:09
He's getting that chance. Competing with Berrios, Mejia, Vogelsong, etc. I believe he was starting today. Not sure how he did, but he had been having a good spring. I also thought he had a chance to win the closer's job. Very good numbers out of the 'pen last season. High ERA but great peripherals and over 12 K/9.

PLEASE, Mr. Avila... sign Angel Pagan!!!
Jason Martinez
5:10
If someone in that CF battle doesn't step up in the next week, I can see that happening.
Jake
5:11
Think it's possible nats part with Robles in a deal for Betances?
Jason Martinez
5:12
No way. He might be the No. 1 prospect in baseball by end of season. Cubs traded an elite prospect, Gleyber Torres, for Chapman, but they have so much hitting depth in their system that they could afford it. Nats have a thin farm system.

On a nice summer day, who the heck cares about game time? You have food, beer, friends, and America's pastime in front of you. I don't think it's game time that matters to them. Maybe more so the pacing of a game but that depends on who's pitching and I feel like commercials have something to do with it too.
Jason Martinez
5:16
A huge % of baseball fans will attend a few games per season and follow baseball news casually. MLB is trying to figure out how to convert them into fans who watch regularly, talk about it regularly with friends and social media, buy merchandise. Not sure if time of the game is the way to convert them, but I understand what they're trying to do. And I definitely think a fan like that will tune out if Joaquin Benoit slows the game down with a 15-minute half-inning.

Are you guys putting out a list of players that are out of options
Jason Martinez
5:18
Yes. The options listed at RR are not official, but they should be pretty reliable. I did all the counting myself. Last I heard, Tim had gotten official confirmation from 20 of 30 teams. The list should be out very soon.

Hi Jason, what do you expect Pablo Sandovals Stat Line to be in 2017 too. As A Red Sox hopes he makes good.
Jason Martinez
5:20
This is my projection .... .260/.316/.398, 492 PAs, 25 2B, 12 HR, 57 RBI. Not bad, but I'm not going overboard. Even when healthy, he's been inconsistent. He's been much better and worse.

Royals 2B on Opening Day is...? Who gets the most innings at the keystone when 2017 is said and done?
Jason Martinez
5:22
I have a feeling that they give Cuthbert a shot to see what he can do there. Had a good year at the plate filling in for Moustakas at 3B. I think Mondesi gets most of the time at 2B, even if he's not called up until June or July.

5:24
Does Stassi or Coghlan make the Phils bench?
Jason Martinez
5:24
I think Coghlan has a strong enough track record that he'll get the job regardless of spring performance. I think they'd want Stassi to show some more versatility before he's given a bench job, so it makes more sense to give him some time in LF down in AAA. That might be difficult with Williams and Cozens there.

5:26
Can you see any scenario that has me on the Indians opening day roster?
Jason Martinez
5:26
It would take Brantley and one other outfielder starting the season on the DL.

5:27
Why is Eddie Rosario ranked so poorly? I don't get the difference between him and Lorenzo Cain except for BA.
Jason Martinez
5:28
Rosario has 27 BB and 209 K as a big leaguer! Decent numbers despite that, but not an indication of future success.

5:30
Seriously, Ian Desmond in the OF, CarGo plays 1st to keep him healthy, right?
Jason Martinez
5:30
I don't know if 1B instead of OF makes a player less likely to get hurt. Especially a guy who has played OF his entire career.

5:33
Do the white sox offer back Dylan Covey to carry one of their many prospects on the 25-man roster?
Jason Martinez
5:33
They're in a good position to keep him all season. Their prospects will mostly be in the minors, not accruing MLB service time.
Bob Wehadababyitsaboy
5:35
Can Michael Wacha bounce back into a solid #3 or is he in prime position to move to the bullpen?
Jason Martinez
5:37
There was a chance that he'd be moved to the bullpen, but that was mostly because Alex Reyes would need a spot eventually. Not anymore with Reyes' injury. As long as Wacha's healthy, he'll be given every chance to stay in the rotation. And if he's healthy, I think he could bounce back into a good No. 3.
Dylan
5:38
Jabari Blash is having a good spring! Does he make the roster? He would need to be added to the 40 man if he continues to play well
Jason Martinez
5:38
Only if Margot or Renfroe don't make the team. In that case, he'd make a great platoon partner with Alex Dickerson.
Jason
5:38
Whi is likely to be the Indians 4 and 5 man in rotation with the triplw threat already known
Jason Martinez
5:39
Salazar and Tomlin. Very strong back of the rotation.
Andrew
5:40
Change your mind on the Loney at 1B for the Rangers yet?
Jason Martinez
5:41
Yep, I changed it before Spring Training games started. I had read that the team told Profar he would be playing mostly OF this season. Good indication that the LF job was his to lose and they were committed to Choo at DH. Loney has some time to change their minds, but not looking good.
Dan
5:43
Who do you think will win out in the long run from the M's Dbacks trade this winter in regards to Walker and Segura?
Jason Martinez
5:43
I think it will be a win-win, but Dbacks get 4 years of Walker and M's only get 2 years of Segura. Mitch Haniger can balance that out and possibly tip that in the M's favor if he becomes an above-average regular.
Chip
5:44
Does Lawrie's release mean Moncada will start the season as the Chisox 2B?
Jason Martinez
5:45
No, but there's a much better chance he's the regular 2B at by mid-season. I think he needs a few more months in AAA.
Aaron
5:47
With Andrew Cashner still not throwing off the mound and Tyson Ross not expected to make his Rangers debut until May, does Texas offer Colby Lewis a major league contract?
Jason Martinez
5:47
I don't think they're at that point yet. If they believe Cashner will miss a few starts, I think they just plug in someone like Nick Martinez or Chi Chi Gonzalez.
PLama
5:49
White Sox opening day CF?
Jason Martinez
5:49
I think they'll play it safe with Charlie Tilson and place him on the DL to start the season. It's his job once he's activated, though. For Opening Day, I think Jacob May is an option but I'll go with Peter Bourjos.
