Does Cleveland make Danny Salazar available this winter?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:38
I think so. He won't be cheap, though. Clevinger deserves a spot, but he also has options remaining so they don't have to open a spot for him.

I meant Jose Albertos with the britton trade
AvatarJason Martinez
5:41
Oh, got it. I can see Albertos and another good prospect(s) for Britton. Not Albertos and De La Cruz. Their farm system has thinned out a lot, so I think they'll be cautious. That's also why they're more likely to trade from their MLB roster.

Who will be the Cards impact bat?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:42
I think they're players for Stanton, JDM and any other impact bats that they can plug into the OF or maybe even 1B. They have $ and prospects. They're in good shape to make a splash or two.

Kyle Tucker to the Padres for Brad Hand?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:48
I think Hand's value has gotten even higher this post-season. So much value because he can pitch multi-innings and he can pitch often. I'm sure every post-season team would've loved to have him. But the Padres aren't getting Kyle Tucker for him. He's one of the top hitting prospects in the game and close-to-MLB-ready. Not being traded for a reliever.

How could you do a chat during the World Series game?!
AvatarJason Martinez
5:52
I'm sure I'm not the only baseball fan that can't wait for the World Series to be over so the offseason can start. But that's mostly because my team (Padres) has only been to the playoffs 5 times.

Will the cardinals trade Carson Kelly with the rise of knizner?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:57
Kelly is definitely a strong trade chip. With Yadier signed for 3 more years, it would make sense to trade Kelly to a team where he has a chance to play much sooner and sign/acquire a veteran backup to split time with Molina. Knizner is very good. I actually have 12 catchers listed in STL's Minor Leaguers You Should Know section ... http://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-st-louis-cardinals/ So they appear to be in very good shape once Yadier retires.

what is a realistic hitting option for the blue jays ?  Gordon ? Bruce ? Yelich ?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:59
In all likelihood, they'll get one of the free agent outfielders. If Lorenzo Cain is fine with playing a corner spot, he'll be in the mix. Jay Bruce, Carlos Gomez and Carlos Gonzalez are in the mix. Jon Jay would be a cheaper option.

Do you think Acuna will play day 1 for Atlanta?  Ripping up his 4th league this year, head and shoulders above any hitter in the AFL.
AvatarJason Martinez
6:04
Assuming he continues to hit in Spring Training, I'd guess he gets the Kris Bryant treatment and is promoted the day after he's assured of not accruing a full year of MLB service time. That way, he's under team control thru 2024 instead of 2023.
So mid-April, in all likelihood. Even if they can trade Matt Kemp, they'll have someone in place who can hold down the fort for a few weeks.

For 3 years 40M why wouldn't the Padres sign Cozart?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:09
Padres aren't likely to spend much this offseason, but can probably afford that. The question is whether they use it to fill their massive void at SS or to shore up the rotation (maybe re-sign Chacin and one other mid-rotation guy). On the other hand, Cozart might not want to sign a 3-year deal on a team that isn't likely to be a playoff contender for the 1st 2 years and then possibly move to 3B once Tatis is ready (possibly mid-2019).

What do you think are the most viable options for the nationals at catcher?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:13
I think Avila would be a really good fit. Wieters would still be the "starter" heading into the season, but Avila can be the guy if Wieters struggles again. And he isn't likely to cost as much as Lucroy.

Where do you see Colin Moran fitting in with the Astros next season? The left side of the infield looks pretty good.
AvatarJason Martinez
6:16
Not really a fit in Houston. Good thing is that he was really good in AAA so he should have some trade interest.

What does a Nolan Arenado extension look like this offseason?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:18
I'll say 10 years, $350MM.

6:21
Which FA landing spot are you most sure of/willing to bet on?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:22
Steve, Jeff and Tim ignored me when I made my argument, but I think the Royals will sign Logan Morrison (born in KC) to replace Hosmer.

6:23
Most likely to be a reliever in 2018, Wheeler or Matz?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:24
Wheeler. Too early to give up on Matz.
Joey Dirt
6:24
Over or under 2.5 years for Andrew Cashner this offseason?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:25
I think he gets 2 years and probably $20-25MM. Way too risky for 3 years, even in this weak SP market.
Scioscia logic
6:27
Bedrosian seemed to be the closer of the future in LA but between injury and the craziness of Scioscia I'm not so sure anymore. Parker seemed to come out of nowhere, does he have the inside track now?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:28
It took Scioscia long enough to give him the job. I think he'll have the edge entering Spring Training, but Bedrosian will have a chance to beat him out. Middleton could be in the mix, but more of a long shot.

Domingo Santana to Phillies (after they lose the Stanton sweepstakes) for Cesar Hernandez and Eickoff? Fair or which side needs to add talent?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:31
4 years of Santana for 3 years of Hernandez is pretty close. Eickhoff has a lot of value. Brewers would need to kick in a lot more if he's included. Also don't know if Santana is a fit in Philly. They have already have Altherr, Odubel, Williams and they have $ to spend on a free agent. Any trade for Hernandez would involve pitching coming back in return.
Angels in OF
6:32
Calhoun, Trout and who's in LF in 2018?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:33
I think Upton stays put. By trading for him, the Angels had already committed to taking on his contract because they wouldn't know for sure if he was going to opt out. If they just tack on another year and another $20MM, works out well for both sides.

When does Fernando Tatis Jr. become the Padres' starting shortstop?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:34
I'm thinking May 2019. He will be 20 years old.
