You have to distinguish between Bridich and Monfort. We don't really know to what extent he has a mandate to try to put something like a winning club on the field.

As I noted in the review of the offseason for COL, the GM looks to be in a tough spot. It'll certainly be impressive if he can manage to build quality pitching depth while making the other moves/non-moves the team has pursued.
