Red Sox chance of landing Kluber? What would the package have to look like? Heard Cleveland has been contacting them about outfielders.

If Matt Kemp hits in the first half like he did during the second half last year, is he tradeable? Maybe to the Phillies who can take a bad contract?

The over 35 team looks good. You've got a starting lineup of something like: C Pierzynski, 1B Pujols, 2B Utley, 3B Beltre, SS Rollins, LF Cruz, CF Granderson, RF Bautita, DH Ortiz. Defense and IF depth is an issue. The rotation is not great: Lackey, Burnett, Haren, Dickey, Colon and maybe Colby Lewis or Harang. The bullpen could be great, including, among many others Javier Lopez, Choate, Madson, Benoit, Neshak, Ziegler, Thornton, Uehara and Casilla.

Nice work.
John Cappola

Who should I take in the first round?
Jeffrey Todd
4:56
Since most of the questions coming in now are from this guy, "John Cappola," I'm going to wrap it up after a few more.
(I have no idea who they should draft, btw. Prospects are hard. Amateur ones are harder.)

Chances Shields, Cashner and Ross are still Padres at season's end.

All of them? Maybe like 20% for me. They signaled where things are headed when they traded Kimbrel, shed Gyorko's contract, and didn't spend much. Barring a surprising first half, somebody's probably getting dealt.

Don't you think mets should have kept Uribe ?
Jeffrey Todd
4:59
No, I think Flores makes sense as a heavily-used infield backup.
Can always adapt with a summer trade if need be.

It's a sunk cost, one that they have already treated completely like a line on the balance sheet. No reason to let that factor in. (I'm more or less agnostic on the call, tough.)

Could the Rockies be surprise contenders similar to the twins? I think the could if our rotation takes a step forward. What do you think?
Jeffrey Todd

You know the phrase, "that's a big if!"? It applies, and then some.

Agree with SI's pick of the Astros winning it all?
Jeffrey Todd
5:01
I disagree with the entire endeavor of picking a team to win a tournament seven months from now.

Okay folks, thanks for joining!
I'm doing double duty again next week, probably, since Steve is still sipping daquiris on the deck of some monster cruise ship parked next to an otherwise beautiful island somewhere in the Caribbean.
Have a good weekend!
