Still plenty relevant, IMO.

How bad is Andrew Millers chip fracture? Non throwing I know...
Jeffrey Todd
3:11
No idea, really, but being that it isn't his throwing hand and he doesn't need to bat (or, really, do much fielding) ... not that bad.
3:12
But he still has to be able to catch the ball to pitch, so he'll presumably miss time but be able to stay at peak form on the mound in the meantime.

If the tigers are under .500 at the deadline, could you see them shopping Miggy?
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
No. They are pretty well connected at the hip for the time being, I think.
Still don't understand that contract.
Wayne
3:14
Who would you rather see at short for braves, Albies or Swanson?
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
I realize this is the kind of thing that you debate when your team isn't very good at the MLB level, but ... it doesn't matter. It'll get sorted when the time comes.

With Schwarber being paired with Hammel, is this a sign of the Cubs showing their commitment to him at catcher?
Jeffrey Todd
3:15
If you listened to the podcast last week, you heard John Baker say that he has no doubt Schwarber can catch in the majors.

We have seen a lot of release/re-sign deals, with teams avoiding the roster bonuses that CBA stipulates. Any chance the next CBA incorporates a mandatory re-signing wait time, or some other mechanism, to try and keep teams from pressing guys on that?
Jeffrey Todd
3:17
I think it works as intended. If the player does enough to force the team's hand, then they won't be released if the team wants to keep them around -- they'd just go somewhere else.

Hey Jeff. I enjoy these chats and your work on this site. Keep up the good work. Why won't the Dolans spend money on a big free agent? We saw what happened in the 90's for the Indians when they mixed a great young core with quality free agent signings. I remember reading something that the Indians payroll is around 94 million, but the money includes money for both Johnson and Swisher.
Jeffrey Todd
3:18
Why thank you. Whether or not the overall spending could be increased, the fact is they've been dealing with the aftermath of the failed Bourn/Swisher deals. Should loosen up in the next couple years, and they have some amazingly good contracts on the books.
3:19
Let's retire the phrase "amazingly good."

What kind of reaction Jason Heyward will get from the Cardinals faithful when he returns to St-Louis for a game vs the Cubs?
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
Remind me why Cards fans are so mad at him for spurning the organization that traded for him as a one-year rental player?
Dan M
3:21
Who has the better year? Corrasco, Archer or Gray?
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
I'm kind of on the Carrasco bandwagon, though I'd take Archer in the long run.
Ron Swanson
3:21
With concussions dominating the headlines and parents becoming more reluctant to have their kids play the more dangerous sports (i.e. football, hockey), do you see baseball benefitting from a larger talent pool in the years to come?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Not just parents becoming reluctant. I keep waiting for some huge lawsuits with insurance fallout that lead to school districts dropping football. Hasn't happened yet, though.
But yeah, I think so.

Look into your crystal ball... Biggest Starting Pitcher traded by the 7/31 deadline
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
Ready for this?
Jorge De La Rosa
3:24
Okay, not really. I'll take Teheran.
Giants
3:24
Is Blackburn a better option in our rotation then Peavy or Cain?
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
Could be better than Cain, but you can wait to let that play out. Peavy has been pretty solid, even if not as good as his results, when he's been out there. And they need to see what they can get from Cain before sending him out to pasture.

I'm not sure about the Miguel Sano experiment in right field...How about you? I hope his defensive woes won't hurt him offensively...
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
I was surprised. Thought Plouffe was a goner with Sano at third. It is a bit mystifying to me, but we'll see.

3:27
Osuna was a good choice over Storen for closer?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
Shameless plug alert!
3:28
Be sure to tune in to TODAY's MLBTR PODCAST to hear the great Ben Nicholson-Smith expound on that very point!
(I'm kind of agnostic.)
Daniel

Giants over/under 95 wins
Jeffrey Todd
3:29
If you're going to put it there, I'm going to take the under. That's steep. I'd set it at 89.5

Any news on who the PTBNL is in the Nick Vincent trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:29
No, but I found it odd that there was some immediate speculation it was Jabari Blash. Why would he be included as a player to be named? It would've just been a straight trade.
3:30
Anyway, I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.
