Rangers keep Moreland next fall?
Jeffrey Todd
6:01
Never know, but he is a free agent and seems fairly likely to move on as things stand. Gallo could take his role to some extent.

6:02
why are baseball jerseys so expensive?
Jeffrey Todd
6:02
Licensing. Do yourself a favor and check out Ebbets Field Flannels -- they are expensive because of the craftsmanship and design.
Bryan

Under/Over of 30 Saves for Osuna this year?
Jeffrey Todd
6:03
I'll take the over. I think he has a pretty good chance of keeping the job.
scott

No instincts for the position. Not his fault, he's really never played the outfield. An actual left fielder would have a. made the catch and b. wouldnt have collided with Fowler on that play.
Jeffrey Todd
6:03
If anything, Fowler ran into him, I thought.
Michael

If the Rays aren't contenders, could they trade Archer?
Jeffrey Todd
6:04
Don't really see it. Super cheap contract and lengthy control. Think they keep the upside in that for themselves.

Why is beer so pricy at Angel Stadium?
Jeffrey Todd
6:05
Supply and demand. Do yourself a favor and drink in the parking lot or at home. (I've enjoyed the chance to exchange thoughts on these economic questions!)

Reddick for ex Athletic Billy McKinney? Is that about the proper return considering the Cubs would extend a QO most likely considering Fowler is on a 1 year deal?
Jeffrey Todd
6:06
If Reddick is playing at a high level and the market is fairly slim on alternatives, I could see him drawing that kind of return. (But note: Cubs wouldn't be able to make a QO since he'd have been traded mid-season.)
scott
6:06
Isn't part of the reason teams can't trade draft picks is the fact that they are used as free agent compensation?
Jeffrey Todd
6:07
Makes sense, I suppose. In theory, you could otherwise game the heck out of the system. Of course, it doesn't make much sense to me for picks to be involved in FA compensation, so ...

Why is E Z P Z complaining about the prices of everything?
Jeffrey Todd
6:08
Hey, he's being a good consumer. You should question how much something is worth to you before parting with your hard-earned cash to acquire it -- remember, it took time to earn the money and once spent, youll have to sacrifice more of it to re-earn it.

What's your favorite baseball card set?
Jeffrey Todd
6:09
Always loved the '34 Goudey cards and some of the other sets from that era. Hard to argue with 1952 Topps, of course. But from my lifetime ... 1991 Donruss red front stands out, haha. Hideous but somehow owns a piece of my heart.

Why -arent- you bullish on Story? 14th overall pick, pretty solid milb numbers, he made some changes in his approach over the winter. He isn't Bryan LaHair, people need to realize that he might actually be elite.
Jeffrey Todd
6:11
I see the reasoning for believing he could be a solid or even very good MLB player, but he strikes out a lot and you have to realize his Triple-A numbers were in the PCL/Albuquerque.
6:12
So, I'm not issuing judgment -- nor would I be qualified to do so -- but I do think he's at a high point right now.

Did you watch my jackie Robinson doc yet?
Jeffrey Todd
6:13
No, but I certainly will eventually.
Cass
6:13
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you end up with?
Jeffrey Todd
6:13
That's all in my bio on the site. But yes, and ... if some of my answers haven't given it away ... history/foreign affairs double major.
Hooray for liberal arts!
John
6:14
Relentless... Any other word to describe the Cubs so far?
Jeffrey Todd
6:15
That's a pretty good one. Incredible spread of quality across that lineup, even sans Schwarber.
Okay folks, I am going to have to call it quits for this week.
6:16
Mets offseason in review piece going up on the site, so be sure to join the comments there to tell me why I'm wrong. You'll want to stay for what will surely be some entertaining hand-wringing about their start to the year.
Talk next week!
