It's a roughly average team at present, in my view. Results will vary from time to time.

What's the real hold up on Trea Turner at this point? They played him at 2B last night at AAA. Is he going to end up being the backup middle infielder rather than starting SS when he does get called up?
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
Espinosa does have four bombs in his last seven games, so he's doing everything he can to hold him off.
3:01
I think he'll get fairly regular time once he's up, but won't be a pure everyday guy.

With all the talent I have in the minors, which pitcher should I be looking at acquiring at the deadline to pair with Hamels and Darvish?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Could match up with the Rays for one of their good/controllable arms. Tyson Ross, perhaps, if he's back to health. Certainly a team that could go in on Teheran if they want to.

Of the players that have signed with fantex, who are u "buying stock" in? Mikael Franco the obvious choice?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
For upside, yeah. But some of the others are closer to arb.
3:04
I'm not investing anything until I learn more about how it all works. But it sounds like fun!

Considering the current states of the Nats and Mets... Who wins the NL East this year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
I view them as roughly equal teams, so the Nats have the edge just b/c they are ahead in the standings.
Josh
3:04
Chances Reds trade Straily? I know he has 3 more years of control after this year, but should they capitalize on it now, while he is pitching really good?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
They need some stability in the staff, and it's not like other teams are going to be totally sold on him -- certainly not as an impact arm -- so I'll guess he's a "hold." But could get a little value back, conceivably, esp. if some team is desperate for a decent arm to get through a rough patch.

Do you think Aledmys Diaz is the real deal?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Defer to John Mozeliak, who basically said yesterday he envisions him holding the job for the rest of his control period. Pretty high praise.
John

Aroldis Chapman for Joey Gallo?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
That's probably too high an ask for Chapman, even without the DV issue. He's unbelievable, but Gallo has a huge ceiling and is MLB-ready.

Any chance I am a buyer at the deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
For what, a new necktie?
3:08
Perhaps some swimwear, or household goods? Not for veteran baseball players, no.

How about instead of James Shields the White Sox look at Tyson Ross, Andrew Cashner or Drew Pomeranz?
Jeffrey Todd
3:09
It's also about who is really marketable right now ... you listed guys who are injured, ineffective, and lack a track record, respectively. Not the best time for SDP to trade them, even apart from the typical "wait til late July" approach.

Seeing as the Phillies have lost 6 straight, do you think they will trade for a major leauge bat this year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
That ship is sailing. I think they'd have done a very modest buy at the deadline if they'd stuck around, but will probably continue to fall off and will end up being more or less traditional sellers. Still, it's been a very successful season so far.

Should Rugby be an olympic sport?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
It is for Rio ... unfortunately, only the "7's" version of it.
Jeremy
3:11
With the dodgers expecting to DFA Guerrero, what do you see happening for his future?
Jeffrey Todd
3:11
He was DFAed. He'll certainly get another shot, but I'd be surprised if it's a MLB deal. Maybe the Indians?
Jay
3:12
What contract is Encarnacion looking at if he maintains his OPS of .750
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
If he's not mashing by season's end, I'd look at him in the VMart range.
3:13
Point being: he has a great track record, so teams will look past one decent but not great season, but only so far. If he turns it back up, he could beat that 4/64 fairly comfortably. (Though I'm still guessing four years.)

3:13
Is there still hope for Phil Hughes to be a serviceable starter?
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
What year is this? 2012? 2014? Ha. He's done it before and still isn't old.

Just curious why you think it (cubs trade deadline) will require a full post? Make lots of moves, or just lots of potential trades to be made. Have you heard anything specific?
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
Because they don't have obvious holes.
Sandy Alderson
3:14
Do you think Cleveland will take De Aza now that they are desperate for an OF? What can we get for him?
Jeffrey Todd
3:15
You're not getting anything of value back for him, esp. since he's been rotting on the pine. Maybe will save some salary, like the O's did last year.

Where do you see Julio Teheran winding up? Boston / Chicago / other/
Jeffrey Todd
3:15
Other ... Atlanta.

Is Ian Desmond for real with this great pace he is at?
