Jeffrey Todd
2:05
Hey y'all. Let's talk some baseball.
Bork
2:05
Hello, friend!
Jeffrey Todd
2:06
Howdy. Is this Judge Bork? You were so big in the 80s.
Tommy
2:06
Could Brandon Phillips be a fit for the Royals?
Jeffrey Todd
2:07
Here's the thing with Phillips: he apparently sought an extra guaranteed year on his deal in exchange for waiving his no-trade clause when presented with a chance to reunite with Dusty and play for the Nats. KC isn't going to do that, either, and I'm not sure anyone else will.
Mike
2:07
How do you feel about Greinke to Boston?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
It's not producing a strong emotional reaction ... from an analytical perspective, I'd say a Greinke deal seems pretty darn unlikely. But you'd have to list the BoSox as one of only a few hypothetical teams with interest.
Adam
2:08
If Atlanta packages Julio Teheran & Arodys Vizcaino together, what type of package would that return?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
I'm not sure why these two would be particularly likely to go in a package deal -- which is rare enough as it is. Remember, the Shark/Hammel package was for 1.5 seasons of the former and .5 of the latter. Here, you're talking about two guys with extended control.

Are the Jays now the best team in the AL East?
Jeffrey Todd
2:10
Not if they weren't already. It's all the natural ebbs and flows. They have always seemed like they'll have about as good a shot as any team in that division.
Cole
2:10
Thoughts on Contreras call up??
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
Now that gets me revved up a bit. Really interested to see how they use him and how he performs. Not at all sure what they'll do with Montero if Contreras lights it up, though they have carried 3 catchers before.
Leo
2:11
Dodgers got to make a move for a bat right? Or at least another starting arm.
Jeffrey Todd
2:12
Far as pitching goes, don't forget they have several guys coming off of the assembly and re-assembly lines. They'll want to see if Puig gets right and such before deciding. Doubt they'll be in a rush to make a move.
Bork
2:13
With Sanchez heading to the pen at some point this season, should the Jays try to trade for a SP or just go with Hutchison?
Jeffrey Todd
2:13
Interesting part of that is whether they will be able to get a good feel for what they can expect from Hutch before the deadline. Could definitely warrant pursuing another arm, but the new FO has spoken before about thinking the farm is a bit thin, so I don't know how much they'll be looking to do.
Andy
2:14
What are the Cubs doing with the Contreras call-up? Showcasing him for a trade or getting ready to start him at C?
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
He's not being traded, and if he were, they wouldn't need to showcase him.
Les Gomez
2:14
How can the Mets not sign Yulieski Gourriel?
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
Nobody really knows how much money they can/will spend, but it looks like a fit.
Isaac
2:14
Does Aaron Blair lose his rotation spot to Tyrell Jenkins any time soon?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
Jenkins moved to the pen last I heard.
wvpirate
2:15
Pirates restock for 17 or go for the wild card this year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
They can and will essentially do both. Core is intact for some time and they have some nice prospects at/near the majors. No need for a sell-off or wild acquisition spree this summer.
willy9
2:15
Should the Jays move Sanchez to the pen to limit his innings?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
Ah, another Strasburg-ish question. I don't know, that's wading into hot take territory.
Whatever they decided before the season made sense probably still does, though.
Jon
2:16
Do you think the Cubs will now look to move Montero??
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
Thing is, he's a nice platoon match for Contreras next year. I think they'll hold onto him at least until they see what Willson does and/or have a pressing need for a roster spot. (Can always option Contreras, of course.)
Oliver
2:18
Are the Yankees sellers at the deadline? If so, what can they expect to get for Chapman, Miller, Beltran, Betances?
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
I'd need a crystal ball for that one. I'll still guess no, in the traditional sense of "seller." Could see them making a lateral move with one of the relievers for a starter or young hitter, but that's tough to pull off at the deadline if you're asking for a MLB piece in return.
Beltran could be an interesting guy to watch, I guess, but I really don't think he's going to draw a fantastic return if he's shopped.
Les Gomez
2:20
Would Wheeler, Plawecki and Nimmo be enough for Lucroy?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Seems within a range of reasonableness. But I don't think Stearns would jump at it if offered right now.
Kyle Schwarber's mom
2:21
So who do the Cubs trade to the Yanks for Chapman? Vogelbach and change. Definitely not my Kyle!
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
No, not your Kyle. I don't see it.
Charlie in KY
2:21
staying on the Reds, shouldn't they try to capitalize on Bruce ASAP?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Yeah probably. It's always a balance. Plus, not all potential buyers are ready to act now -- they don't yet know their needs. Reason things usually wait til the deadline is that everybody is gathering as much info as possible before acting.
Neal
2:22
What's the market like for Jay Bruce? any other realistic trade candidates from Cincy?
