Bryant Or Zobrist to the outfield? One of them would need to go to the outfield for Baez to play everyday or do they not give Baez everyday at-bats
Steve Adams
3:43
I'd imagine Zobrist will see more outfield time in 2017 than he did in 2016, but they can give Baez some spare at-bats by playing him at SS once a week and giving Russell a rest, or giving Bryant the occasional breather at third base. Maddon will work everyone into the mix a fair amount.

Kuhl, Glasnow, Hutchinson, Brault, Williams. Any of them step up and produce numbers better than a #4/5 starter this year? Which one do you think could most surprise?
Steve Adams
3:45
I don't think it'd be a remote surprise to see Glasnow perform better than that. He's been billed as a potential front-of-the-rotation arm for years now. The others, no, I don't think there's better than a back-end starter in there. But, Kuhl throwing 180 innings with a 4.20 ERA or something is hardly a bad outcome, even if it's not exciting.

any interest for ryan howard? Havent heard any news about him.
Steve Adams
3:45
I'd guess he signs a minor league deal in late Feb. or early March.
Daniel
3:46
Are the Jays serious about a deal for McCutcheon? Would a deal straight up for Stroman make sense?
Steve Adams
3:46
I don't think they're very serious and absolutely no way I'd deal Stroman straight up for two years of a fairly expensive, possibly declining McCutchen
3:47
Reds just signed Drew Storen to a one-year, MLB deal, per MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.
So there you go, people who have been asking me if the Reds would sign anyone to a Major League deal this winter. Rejoice?
Sean
3:47
Do you think the mets will resign Blevins
Steve Adams
3:48
Seems like they're more keen on keeping their LHRP investment to one year -- Blevins will get more than that. I think he'll land elsewhere... maybe Furbush or Howell to the Mets on a more affordable deal?
Sandy Alderson
3:49
Did the Nats give up too much for Adam Eaton?
Steve Adams
3:50
They gave up a lot, but I don't think it's as outrageous as a lot of people suggest. There's already been tons of talk that Lopez is more of a reliever than a starter, and it seems decidedly unlikely that both become top-of-the-rotation arms, simply because the miss rate on even the game's top pitching prospects is so high. Eaton's contract was one of the most valuable in the sport, and even if (when) he doesn't repeat last year's six-win season with regularity, there's an enormous amount of surplus value there.

Wisler, Blair or Folty. Who emerges for Atlanta?
Steve Adams
3:51
Foltynewicz is the best of the bunch in my eyes.
Os fan
3:51
Michael Saunders to the Os makes too much sense, no?
Steve Adams
3:51
Makes plenty of sense to me

3:51
I still think Jose Bautista makes sense in Seattle. Worth giving up the pick?
Steve Adams
3:51
Ha, I didn't even read that username before publishing.
3:52
I don't love the fit much, especially with the pick attached, as I don't love the notion of being forced to play either Bautista or Cruz in the outfield most days. If they're convinced he can play first base, then perhaps, but he doesn't really have any kind of long-term experience there, and Dipoto tends to prioritize defense.

Heard Desmond Jennings name mentioned a few places recently. Any word on his current health?
Steve Adams
3:53
Have not heard anything about his health recently, but also haven't asked around about it. I can look into that between this week and next week's chat.

Does Samardzija and $$ for Dozier, or Samardzija for Dozier/Hughes (SF absorbs Hughes $$ to offset) make any amount of sense? Twins normally have to overpay for pitching, and they'd get 4 years of an above average one.
Steve Adams
3:54
I don't think that makes any sense for Minnesota. They'd be looking to get younger and get cheap years of control over someone. Not quasi-expensive decline years from a veteran starter.

3:55
This the Dbacks could target on of the multiple late innings arms the rangers have? Possibly give up Bradley in return
Steve Adams
3:56
Arizona isn't really in a position to be dealing potential starters for bullpen help. If they're going to give up on Bradley as a starter, why not just put him in the 'pen before shipping him off? Not that I consider that likely, but I'd like that idea better than trading him for a semi-expensive reliever that only has three years of control remaining.

Is joey gallo a bust?
Steve Adams
3:56
The kid turned 23 not even two months ago and has only 140-150 MLB plate appearances.
3:57
(That's a no, to be more direct)
Ethan
3:57
Is Tyson Ross to Pittsburgh a perfect match?
Steve Adams
3:57
If he were willing to take $4-5MM, sure, but the Bucs aren't likely to spend $9-11MM on their reclamation projects.
fan of the chop
3:58
Derek Norris and Yangervis Solarte for Adonis Garcia Wisler and Scivique? what do you think?
Steve Adams
3:58
Derek Norris plays for the Nationals now, and I'd still rather have the Solarte side of that deal.
Steve Adams is my co-pilot
3:59
Reds just signed Drew Storen!!!
Steve Adams
3:59
Said that like 10 minutes ago
Storen gets $3MM + $1.5MM worth of incentives, says Heyman
