Steve Adams

Way too soon
Lou
3:28
What would it take for the Twins to pry Marcus Stroman from the Blue Jays?
Steve Adams
3:29
I don't really see the Jays moving Stroman -- rotation is a strength there and he's wildly popular. Kepler and prospects, I suppose, considering their need for long-term outfield parts and lefty bats, but it doesn't make much sense to me from a conceptual standpoint.

3:29
Omaha is a pretty nice baseball city yes?
Steve Adams
3:29
The one night I've spent in Omaha entailed sitting in a hotel room with the worst food poisoning I've ever had. Ahhhh memories.
Ryan D.
3:29
Could the Padres realistically acquire Zack Cozart? What would that package look like?
Steve Adams
3:30
I don't know why San Diego would be looking at one-year options at shortstop.
AJ
3:30
Who's the worst team in baseball next year?
Steve Adams
3:31
Can't really make that judgment until we see the offseason play out, now can we?
Josh Hamilton
3:31
Is there any teams gonna sign me?
Steve Adams
3:31
He's going to sign a minor league deal with the Rangers.
Justin
3:31
How long does Molitor last? Seems the requirement to keep has handcuffed
Steve Adams
3:32
Don't really see it as a handcuff -- Falvey and Levine will give him a year, I'm sure, and if they didn't like the rapport move on. Worked with Counsell/Stearns next door in Milwaukee.
Lukas
3:32
severino as nats starting cather in 2017?
Steve Adams
3:32
Nah they'll either add someone in a trade (McCann?) or sign a free agent like Wieters.
SFGfan40
3:33
Steve, tell me the Giants will sign Melancon soon!!
Steve Adams
3:33
I actually do have the Giants signing Melancon and I like them to jump sooner rather than later on that. Well, I like that more for Melancon's camp. They know they're Plan C for all the teams looking for a closer, and the Giants really seemed miffed that they didn't get him in July.
3:34
That said, at the dollars he's going to command, I wouldn't go near Melancon, but I still think San Fran is the spot.
Yami Yugi
3:34
Some ideal landing spots for Andrew Cashner are...
Steve Adams
3:35
Pirates if he's going to stay in the rotation. Maybe Oakland. I'd love to see him show an openness to signing as a reliever, though, in which case I'd list several more teams... Cubs, Nats, Dodgers -- he'd be a really intriguing bullpen arm.
Houzer
3:35
Who says no .... JD for d'Arnaud+Conforto
Steve Adams
3:36
JD as in JD Martinez? No way the Mets give up Conforto for one year of him
Ryan D.
3:36
I apologize, I was just going off MLBTR's offseason outlook for the Padres that kind of mentioned how they might go after a stop-gap and got curious. Thank you anyways!
Steve Adams
3:37
Ah yeah -- Jason and I kind of disagreed there, which happens with the outlooks and FA prediction stuff sometimes. If they wanted to sign him to an extension, I'd be fine with it, but I'd rather see the Padres prioritizing long-term options otherwise.
Ethan
3:37
Does Wilson Ramos sign during the offseason or do teams wait until he has fully recovered?
Steve Adams
3:37
Offseason for sure.
Sandy
3:37
Gomez is my fallback if Yo walks. what do you think?
Steve Adams
3:38
The whole Gomez connection seems a little rough after the trade collapsed 18 months ago.
Farhan Zaidi
3:39
Which rumor has more traction Sale and Frazier or Verlander and Kinsler to LAD?
Steve Adams
3:39
I don't think there's much traction to either. Every team wants Sale.

Verlander has a full no-trade clause.
John.
3:39
Chris sale for odor who hangs up first?
Steve Adams
3:40
Odor and like four of the Rangers top prospects?
No way Sale is moved in a one-for-one swap. Maybe if that one is Corey Seager, I guess.
Joe
3:40
Is there any chance that the Pirates and Tigers swing a deal centered around Harrison and Kinsler?
Steve Adams
3:41
If the Tigers move Kinsler they wouldn't target a kind-of-expensive and kind-of-old replacement for him -- they'd want young pre-arbitration pieces they can control for five or six years.

3:41
How many teams could afford Sale or Archer?
Steve Adams
3:42
Financially? All of them. Prospect-wise, it's tougher, but even a team with a bad farm could throw in some more controllable MLB talent to serve as the starting point. But, then you're weakening the current product to acquire a shorter-term asset, which mitigates some of the value Sale and Archer bring.
Lyndon L.
3:42
Which SS will have the best long term career... Seager (Dodgers) or Story (Rockies)?
Steve Adams
3:42
I would take Seager over nearly any young player in baseball.
In the case of Seager vs. Story, it's not close. Seager.
