Sale , Frazier for Deleon , Puig , Calhoun and Wood ... Fair?
Steve Adams
3:51
Nope.
Sox don't make that move.
Hahn's asking price probably starts with Urias and adds pieces from there.
Alex
3:52
What team at least 5 games above .500 last year do you expect to stuggle? What team at least 5 games under do you expect to excel this season?
Steve Adams
3:52
Again -- questions for Spring Training. I'm not going to make that type of prediction until we see the offseason play out. (And even then I'll probably be wrong, ha)
3:53
I guess I did pick the Mariners to do well in 2016! I also thought the D-backs would be competitive and the Orioles would stumble, though. So. Yeah.

Matt Adams to Houston. Is this logical?
Steve Adams
3:54
As some kind of Plan D or Plan F, sure. But they're looking way more high profile than Adams, and honestly, I don't see much reason to give up anything of value for a guy that has durability issues and can't remotely hit lefties when the FA market has more platoon 1B bats than there are plausible landing spots.
3:55
Would you rather part with something of value for Adams or just sign one of Moss, Moreland, Lind, etc. and surrender only money.
Question mark! Not period!

Can we get Schwarber plus for Archer?
Steve Adams
3:55
Schwarber was a total non-starter in Miller talks. Archer has more value, but I still doubt it.
Dan Duquette
3:56
Should I trade Zack Britton now...his value will likely never be higher?
Steve Adams
3:57
I would be taking offers, since I don't see any other viable ways to get some legitimate rotation help. Maybe Chance Sisco plus some lesser prospects gets you a mid-rotation arm, but the O's have enough fringy back-end arms as it is.

Why arent the Cardinals kicking the tires on J.D. Martinez? Seems like a good fit.
Steve Adams
3:57
They want to get better defensively, and JDM rated as one of the worst defensive players in all of baseball, at any position, last year.

What did you think of the Walker, Segura trade
Steve Adams
3:59
I usually like Dipoto's moves, but that one didn't sit that well with me. I'm not all that sold on Segura's breakout -- his success is so BABIP-driven -- and putting him back at shortstop, where he's a minus defender, negates some of his value anyway. If Haniger develops into a useful piece or Curtis becomes a viable late-inning option, that'll change things, but I'd much rather have four years of Walker and Marte than two of Segura.

Could the White Sox trade Chris Sale and still aim to contend in 2017-2018?
Steve Adams
4:01
I suppose so -- they'd still have Quintana, Rodon, Eaton, Anderson, Abreu, Robertson, Jones, Melky, Frazier... some decent pieces, and they'd get an MLB-ready rotation placement probably another MLB-ready position player in the Sale deal to help compensate for his loss.

I don't know that they'd be likely to succeed with that plan, though. Plus it strikes me as a half-measure. It's plausible, sure, but I don't see that actually playing out.

Who will be the biggest flop signing of this offseason? My prediction is Jose Bautista
Steve Adams
4:02
Well let's see how much everyone signs for, but Mark Trumbo has been the guy I feel is going to get wildly overpaid. I'm a bit less certain on that now, though, seeing that the Brewers couldn't find anyone to take on Chris Carter and just wound up DFAing him.

Can't seem to like the Thames signing
Steve Adams
4:02
Scroll up! I don't think it's bad.
JD Martinez
4:02
Am I still living in Detroit next year?
Steve Adams
4:03
I think JDM wins my "likeliest player to be traded this winter" award, if such a thing existed. I suppose he's tied with Jay Bruce now that Cespedes is going back to Queens.
Reese
4:03
Where is Wilson Ramos playing next?
Steve Adams
4:05
I feel like it has to be an AL team -- I like the Orioles as a fit, and one dark horse that makes sense to me is the Rangers. They have Lucroy, but he's a free agent after 2017, and Ramos will be out through at least May and possibly into July. They could use him as a DH and part-time catcher to ease him back into it in '17 and give him the reins in 2018 if Lucroy signs a monster deal elsewhere.

Why SHOULDN'T the Reds trade Votto? They have no chance to compete in the division for 3-4 years. Wouldn't the haul be worth it?
Steve Adams
4:05
He has a full no-trade clause and doesn't want to be traded.
Bugg
4:06
the worst contract of the offseason will end up being Castro to the Twins... that kind of money for a guy barely hitting over the Mendoza line is comical.
Steve Adams
4:06
Evaluating a player based solely on his batting average is also comical.
Rob
4:06
Do the Phillies go after a short term OF through trade, like they did with Kendrick?
Steve Adams
4:07
Right now I think they plan to use Kendrick himself as a short-term OF.
ROYALS GM
4:07
News and rumors have been very quiet out of Kaufman stadium. Feels like the Royals are awaiting the CBA before determinin direction
Steve Adams
4:07
I wouldn't bank on any big additions for the Royals. Dayton Moore already basically said payroll is going down in 2017
Um
4:08
Is Encarnacion to the Jays still plausible?
Steve Adams
4:08
Not if $80MM was their top offer, but if they're willing to add a fifth year or push into the mid-90s on that four-year offer, sure.

Gut feeling, do the Rays trade Archer this offseason or no?
