Steve Adams
5:00
Oakland and Tampa Bay are in a tier unto themselves.
Fred
5:01
Hypothetically, could the Mets get more or less for syndergaadd than Bosoxgot for Sale?
Steve Adams
5:01
They'd probably get more, but it obviously won't happen.
South side sox
5:02
do you have an idea of the top 15 draft prospects for 2017?
Steve Adams
5:02
Nah -- that's more MLB.com, Baseball America, ESPN (Keith Law) territory. And even those guys don't fully know yet. Draft stock changes wildly based on the season that precedes the actual event.
Billy Beane
5:03
Jose Bautista - 2 / 40 - Opt out after 1st year. Done deal?
Steve Adams
5:03
I'm sure that'd get it done. Can't really imagine anyone else offering something that appealing right now.
David Perilstein
5:03
Do you see the royals adding a dh/1b to replace morales?
Steve Adams
5:04
I don't see them adding any kind of meaningful salary. Maybe they'll grab an Adam Lind or something for a few million bucks if he's one of the 1B/DHs left without a team when the game of free-agent musical chairs stops.
TengoPreguntas
5:04
Is/was this the worst free agent market we've seen in the last 10 years?
Steve Adams
5:04
Yyyyup.
Soxfan
5:04
Who will sign for more money as a free agent? Machado or Harper?
Steve Adams
5:05
Entirely dependent on their next two seasons. Right now, Machado has more earning power.
B
5:05
Odds that Mr. Beane just propositioned you for free agent advice?
Steve Adams
5:05
I'd call that a strong 95 to 97 percent.
Aussiejaysfan
5:06
Think the jays are happy with the current roster or have they just been unlucky and just missed with some of the big signings? Hard to work out what they are aiming to achieve
Steve Adams
5:07
I don't think anyone expected Encarnacion's market to crumble the way it did, so I have a hard time assigning blame to Shapiro and Atkins for moving on when Paul Kinzer was publicly saying Encarnacion was a potential $125MM player and rejected their 4/80 offer. And it sounds like the Cardinals really went over the top to outbid them on Fowler -- I wouldn't have wanted to top $82.5MM and a full no-trade clause either, so no blaming them there. Ditto for 4/30 on Cecil.
5:08
That said, the Jays' persistent link to Jay Bruce baffles me, and the fact that they've yet to add an everyday option in the corner outfield is a bit puzzling to me.
Andrew
5:08
If the whole Odor-Bautista thing didn't happen he would be a perfect fit for the Rangers wouldn't he?
Steve Adams
5:10
Yep. When we were talking about potential landing spots for free agents back in October, each of Tim Dierkes, Jeff Todd, Jason Martinez and myself all said that independently of one another when writing up our early thoughts to share with each other via email. He's a great on-paper fit for the roster but that drama makes it a tough sell -- especially with the fans, I'd think.

Who has a lower trade value, Jay Bruce or Anibal Sanchez?
Steve Adams
5:10
In a vacuum, Anibal, though it depends how much money the Tigers are eating.
Adam Steves
5:11
Trumbo signs with....
Steve Adams
5:11
Sticking with Baltimore.
Ross Atkins
5:11
Can i get cargo for liriano?
Steve Adams
5:11
Nope.
Bernie Brewer
5:11
Any suitors for Scooter?
Steve Adams
5:12
So-so defensive second baseman that can't hit left-handed pitching -- I just don't see many teams thinking he'd be a big upgrade to their bench. Royals could make some sense if their internal options are bombing in Spring Training.
Matt E
5:12
Well wouldn't Bruce qualify as an everyday option in the corner outfield?
Steve Adams
5:13
Bruce's ineptitude against lefties and questionable defense make him a platoon guy in my mind. I wouldn't want him in the outfield every day -- and certainly not when it comes with a $13MM price tag.
5:14
Ok I've got to wrap this up for the week. Thanks for chatting everyone -- you can inform me why all of my opinions are wrong on Twitter (@Adams_Steve). Jason Martinez will chat tomorrow at 6:30pm CT and Jeff Todd on Thursday afternoon at 2 CT.
