Frenchy back to AtlantA. If not there, where?
Steve Adams
4:47
I have a weird feeling he's going to end up in Minnesota. Falvey and Levine are continually talking about adding some veteran leadership, which is basically the main thing that gets Frenchy signed every offseason... and the Twins have a pair of left-handed bats in their outfield corners in Rosario and Kepler.

Does Sam Travis get called up mid-season for the Sawx?
Steve Adams
4:48
September at the latest, but yeah I can see it sooner depending on other injuries/roster moves.
Jurickson P.
4:48
Does Josh Hamilton having anything left? If he can stay healthy and get regular DH ABs is .275/.350/.450 with 25HR unreasonable?
Steve Adams
4:49
Hamilton has 560 PAs over the last three years combined. I'd say expecting him to stay healthy in the first place is unreasonable.

Do the twins give Trevor May a true shot at the rotation? Or does berrios and Duffey seem more likely?
Steve Adams
4:49
May and Falvey have both indicated that he'll get a real shot at it, yeah. I think that's the right call. I'd like to see Duffey given a shot in the 'pen, myself.
Let him ramp up the velocity on his fastball and really focus on that curve. He was a reliever in college.

One second, gonna get a quick headline about this Gamboa thing on the site

Familia and Lagares for AJ Pollack. Who says no?
Steve Adams

Between Wacha/Rosenthal/Weaver/Gant who do you like best as the Cards #5 if Reyes is indeed out?
Steve Adams
4:53
Wacha, Weaver, Gant, then Rosenthal. I don't get stretching Rosenthal out when his command tanked and he had shoulder problems.

4:53
Talking about Familia, when and how much of a suspension is expected ?
Steve Adams
4:54
I think he'll get at least 30 days to mirror Chapman's suspension.

No love for Lou Seal?
Steve Adams
4:54
That is another V good one.

Robertson + $15mm for Fedde and Kieboom. Seems like this should have happened.
Steve Adams
4:56
Fedde and Kieboom feels like kind of a lot for Robertson -- I guess I just don't think D-Rob's value is that high right now coming off a pair of so-so seasons. And I was a huge and outspoken Robertson fan heading into free agency: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/free-agent-profile-david-robertson.html

Steve Adams, Happy Valentin's Day. Nobody wrote that one yet!
Steve Adams
4:57
Which Valentin? Jose? Javier?
(Couldn't resist)

When will Blanton sign? Waiting for an injury?
Steve Adams
4:58
It seems like he's being really partial to West Coast clubs, which can't be helping his market much. He was probably hoping for a two-year deal from the Dodgers, which obviously isn't happening now.

Early thoughts as to which free agent gets the biggest contract next season? Arrieta? Hosmer?
Steve Adams
5:01
Arrieta, Cueto, Darvish, Tanaka ... depends on health and performance, of course, but one of those four. We'll do our first 2017-18 Free Agent Power Rankings sometime in April. Think the first edition came out shortly after Opening Day in 2016?

With Altuve being a Boras client, what do you think the odds are of the Astros being able to sign him to an extension before he hits free agency in 2020?
Steve Adams
5:04
He already took one insanely team-friendly deal before hiring Boras. I'd imagine he's pretty set on testing free agency after 2019. And no reason not to -- he'll already be sitting on about $25MM in career earnings by then. He can afford the "risk" of going year to year

If Tanaka opts out, do the Yanks pass and hope to reallocate the money? Thank you for doing this.
Steve Adams
5:05
I'm sure they'll be in the mix to re-sign him, but if he opts out it's going to be because he has a good, healthy season, and at that point the price will go up over $150MM all over again.
Tanaka
5:05
If I have a significant injury in ST (like finally needing TJ) will not choose not to opt out?
Steve Adams
5:05
Of course he won't opt out if he has Tommy John
CARDINAL Bryan
5:06
Doug Fister to the Cardinals 1 year?
Steve Adams
5:06
Reasonable
Robert
5:06
Do the Astros truly need another rotation piece? Can they make it with what they have or will they go fishing midseason?
Steve Adams
5:07
I think the whole "they need an ace" talk is kind of silly. The Royals won a World Series with Jeremy Guthrie starting like 22 games for them that year. Another front-line arm would help, sure, but they have a lot of solid options in Houston. And if Keuchel rebounds or McCullers stays healthy, the whole "Who's at the top of the rotation?" narrative (which, again, is silly in the first place) becomes even less defensible.

5:08
Who of the twins current players have the best shot at an extension?
Steve Adams
5:08
Kepler? Most of their young guys haven't been around long enough to be true extension candidates. Kepler's agency has a history of early-career long-term deals though, so that seems plausible I guess.

I suppose you have to answer at least one Nats closer question today. Do you see Kelley as a realistic option, is there someone else internal or do you still see them needing to go outside the organization before this season is over?
