Just found out Will Smith played at the college I just graduated from this summer (it was a community college then, it has since upgraded to a 4 year school). I thought that was pretty neat. Are the any current or retired players that played for your school?

I went to a small Division-III school in southern Minnesota (I'm from MN) because they persistently recruited me to go run track and cross country there (which I ran because I, regretfully, sucked terribly at baseball -- ha). I don't think any pro athlete has ever come from there haha

I'm sure I'll catch hell for it since he's still really good, but that Miguel Cabrera deal is a ticking time bomb. Generally speaking, any of the huge mega-deals are bad, though. That Greinke contract and the Heyward deal aren't looking so hot either.

Parks and Rec -- though I always get confused about the specific camera requirements for something to be a "sitcom." I think Parks and Rec technically misses that. But it'd be my pick for comedy anyhow. Arrested Development a close second, but there's just more of Parks and Rec

Ha, Jim Halpert forever.

They'd get a significant one -- multiple near-MLB pieces, at least one being a top talent... think Johnny Cueto deal -- but I don't see any reason to be expecting the Rangers to be sellers at this point.

Bethancourt will be on the Padres roster and it's going to be awesome. I really, really hope he can make this catcher/pitcher/outfielder hybrid work -- I'd love to see more teams try that out with players.

Window is closing, obviously. Should trade some pieces to rebuild the farm. Let's take Manny out of the equation...who gets moved and what type of prospect haul.

If you're trading pieces to build for the future, Manny shouldn't be out of the equation, he should BE the equation. The type of return you could get for 1.5 years of Machado this summer if the Orioles aren't contending would be staggering.
Britton would be the next most appealing. Tillman if healthy.

Who will win the roster spot in 3rd base and where will Hwang play?

My way-too-early prediction is that Hwang wins the bench gig and bounces between 3B, 2B and maybe a little LF. But he's also said that he's willing to go to AAA, so perhaps they'll take someone like Hill or Rollins early in the year to let Hwang get regular ABs in AAA if he doesn't crush Spring Training pitching

Front office seems to really like him. I think as long as there's no enormous losing stretch and the young players show some semblance of development, he can get a chance beyond this year

Do you see Ryan Zimmerman platooning with Lind? That is an expensive guy to platoon but he has been flat out terrible when not injured.

The Nationals are trying to win -- I can't envision them running Zimmerman out there every day if he's flat out not hitting simply because he's paid well. Lind is a really nice insurance policy for them and I expect that he'll get quite a bit of playing time between first base and some "shield your childrens' eyes!!" games in left field, where he hasn't played since 2010 and was never very good

Just checked- your school had 2 MLB players come out of it. They played a combined 10 games in MLB.

I think he'll regress in terms of average -- the BABIP isn't sustainable -- but he can hit something like .250-.260ish with a marginal low .300s OBP and plenty of pop

Heyman rated the Blue Jays as having the worst offseason and grading them a D, but gave the Tigers a B and the Orioles an A-. Please tell me I'm not just a homer in thinking this is ludicrous.

Offseason grades in general are silly to me. The Jays did well to wait out Smith/Howell and they flubbed on moving onto Morales so quickly, though I don't blame them one bit for thinking Edwin would do better than their offer and subsequently changing course

I thought the $7MM he got last season as a strong find for him coming off a crappy 2015 season. I thought he's get something like 2/25 this year, but I also thought that'd have been an overpay.
