Any chance choo gets moved? To rebuild some of the farm.
Steve Adams
3:56
Trading Choo wouldn't bring in the type of prospects that would restock the farm. He's 34 years old (35 next July), owed $82MM over the next four seasons and played 45 games this season due to injury.

Where do you see Sandoval fitting in with next year's Red Sox?
Steve Adams
3:57
I don't really see how he fits unless it's at DH with some occasional reps at third and first. I'm sure they'll see if they can luck into a Hanley-esque rebound before they just cut him, but I expect they'll try to unload him this year and could ultimately release him if he sticks with the team and underperforms in Spring Training/early 2017.

Why do the Mariners let us down every year?
Steve Adams
3:59
Two games out of the Wild Card with a week to play this season after finishing 10 below .500 last year! There's plenty to be excited about

Fewer people on these chats now that's it's late in the season? Or more? About the same?
Steve Adams

There are always fewer late in the season and more during free agency/as the trade deadline nears

Is what the Dodgers have done with their SP (15+ guys making starts the last two seasons, spreading innings out rather than sticking with a core 4 or 5) a new trend or simply a result of injuries? They had to know guys like McCarthy and Anderson weren't going to pitch 170 innings each year, right?
Steve Adams
4:01
I'm sure they knew that wasn't likely, which is precisely why they added the depth that they did. I don't think it'll be a new trend, because most teams can't afford to pay big money for injury prone arms and stuff the upper levels of their minor league ranks with experienced MLB arms, and most aren't willing to play with the final few spots on their 40-man roster as aggressively as Andrew Friedman has been, either.
Unless you mean is it a trend for the Dodgers, in which case, sure, I think they'll be willing to build similarly risk-laden pitching staffs knowing that they can afford to purchase usable depth at will.

Where does Yangervis Solarte rank among underrated players?
Steve Adams
4:02
I don't have a top 10 chart handy, but I don't think most people realize how genuinely good he's been this season (and last)
Matt Klentak
4:02
Will Matt Harrison ever throw a pitch for us, let alone pitch ever again?
Steve Adams
4:03
I hope so, but I'd bet against it given the extent of the injuries/surgeries he's been through.

Please!!!!!.........for the love of Pete........, stop glorifying David Ortiz and his HGH ridden season that has seen him compile offensive stats that flies in the face of common sense. Big body DH types do not get a quicker bat as they age to 40 years old. Wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve Adams
4:04
Can you repeat that? I couldn't hear you through your tinfoil hat?

Also, "glorifying" David Ortiz? I just scoffed at the notion of him being MVP and called him the fourth or fifth most valuable player on his own team.

Any chance the Rockies take a shot at hometown boy Melancon this winter? Does 3/45ish get it done?
Steve Adams
4:06
Overspending on one reliever is about the last thing I'd advocate the Rockies doing this winter, and 3/45 would be a significant overpay for Melancon. If he gets 45MM, it'll be over four years.

Sell high on Jonathan Villar this offseason or hold onto him & build around him?
Steve Adams
4:09
I'd be fine if they elected to sell high in light of a strong offer. Doubtful his value's going to get higher... his bat will probably regress next season with a BABIP dip, but it's not like other teams aren't cognizant of that possibility. If they can get a legitimate rotation prospect plus some other minor league pieces, sure, go for it.

But he's also controlled cheaply another four seasons, so no reason to force a trade.

Which seager has played better this season? Kyle or Corey?
Steve Adams
4:09
Corey, though both have been great.
I'll always take the shortstop though.
4:10
Ok, I've got to wrap up for the week. Jason's up tomorrow at 6:30pm CT, and Jeff Thursday at 2pm CT if you want need more chats in your life.
Thanks for joining, as always.
