Why are the Yankees considering morales if they want to get younger and aren't in a position to win now
Tim Dierkes
1:08
I think they think they are in a position to win now. And if you're that strict about getting younger, you pretty much have to sit out free agency.

1:08
Is Napoli to the Mariners realistic?
Tim Dierkes
1:08
Not crazy, though I feel like they may prefer to give Vogelbach a shot.
AJ
1:09
Does Boston get whichever of JB/EE does not go back to Toronto (assuming one does?)
Tim Dierkes
1:09
No, I don't think they are that limited. Guys like Trumbo, Ramos, Napoli, Morales, and Beltran could enter their DH mix.

What do you see as needs and possible solutions to those needs for the Royals within this year's free agent pool?
Tim Dierkes
1:11
SP, RP, 2B, DH. Some solid 2B options like Chase Utley or Neil Walker, tons of DHs, lot of RPs, few SPs. They just don't seem to have the money to play on top guys. I put Charlie Morton with them.
Cubs
1:11
What young arms could the Cubs trade for
Tim Dierkes
1:11
Assuming the White Sox don't want to trade Sale or Quintana to them, next best bet is to call the Rays regarding Archer, Odorizzi, or Smyly.
John Mo
1:11
Think the Cardinals will start at the top of possible trades for a CF Such as the asking price for Mike Trout?
Tim Dierkes
1:12
I guess they could ask, but there's no reason to think Trout would be available.
Nate
1:12
Is Greg Holland really a closer option? Or are teams going to give him reliever type money?
Tim Dierkes
1:12
I could see him as high as 2/20. But his showcase didn't seem all that encouraging, regardless of the spin coming out of it. I know he's building arm strength, but maybe they should have waited until he did?
Zach
1:12
What major starters will be traded since the the FA starters are garbage?
Tim Dierkes
1:13
Maybe Jaime Garcia, Ervin Santana, Michael Wacha, and the White Sox and Rays guys mentioned.
Ryan
1:13
Playing Devil's Advocate here but if Yoenis Cespedes didn't get what he wanted from free agency last year when he was coming off his best year so far and didn't have the QO attached, why would he get it now being a year older, having the QO attached and not having played just about as good as he did the year before?
Tim Dierkes
1:14
1) new skill - taking a few walks. 2) completely different mix of interested teams. 3) less competition on the FA market. 4) teams freeing up cash they didn't have a year ago. 5) team needs that did not exist a year ago

Any chance the White Sox go after Josh Reddick?
Tim Dierkes
1:15
CF is a bit of an easier fit for them, but moving Melky to DH to open up a corner for Reddick makes sense to me.
Bill Ladson
1:15
Nats starting CF on opening day will be _______________
Tim Dierkes
1:16
Bryce Harper, Dexter Fowler, Carlos Gomez, or Trea Turner. How's that for a cop-out.
Eric
1:16
why would volquez decline his option to sign for less money?
Tim Dierkes
1:17
I don't know the language of his contract, but I think he knew the Royals were moving on.
Clint Teal
1:17
Weiters seems way overvalued, thoughts?
Tim Dierkes
1:18
Yeah, to even get 3/39 he's going to have to do it because of Boras and his pedigree, more so than his performance. Some have advocated for four years, but I don't find that likely.
Chris J
1:18
Will Fowler take a deal of three years or less? Nats could use him in CF, putting Turner at SS, to bridge the years until Robles is ready for a full time starting role.
Tim Dierkes
1:18
I think he'll only take three years or fewer if no one is willing to offer four. And I do think some teams will offer four.

While money is usually the main factor, what FA on your list have a history of geographical preferences?
Tim Dierkes
1:19
The Dickey-Braves pick was influenced by geographic pref.
angels fan
1:19
you think angels will have enough money to spend on walker for 2nd base, starting pitcher and back up catcher?
Tim Dierkes
1:19
I don't think they'll actually do it all through FA, like we show on our list. Maybin was a good way to fill one hole.
Alex M.
1:20
I dont see the Phillies giving up a Draft pick for Desmond, which of Saunders, Gomez or Reddick would fit for the Phillies?
Tim Dierkes
1:20
Second round pick, not sure they'll cling to it all that tightly, especially getting a pick for Hellickson.
Ryan
1:20
Should my Padres go after Jake Peavy?
Tim Dierkes
1:20
Nostalgia tour, why not.
Shawn
1:20
What do the Reds do?
Tim Dierkes
1:20
Add a lower tier reliever or two.
E Klein
1:21
What is your reasoning behind the Cardinals grabbing a guy like Fowler instead of a Desmond or any of the other OF's out there?
Tim Dierkes
1:21
CF seems to be the best fit, and Fowler is the most reliable (and possibly best defensive) FA CF.
