Can the Astros get EE? Will 4/90 do it? I want him batting after Correa.
Tim Dierkes
1:22
I can definitely see the Astros on EE. I know there are some who think our 4/92 projection is low, although this is the time of year when agents get us thinking some crazy things.

Brett Cecil get 3 years or is 2 the ceiling?
Tim Dierkes
1:22
I think 3 is more likely than 2.

Saw the original predictions that the Orioles might get Trumbo and Saunders, how does the news about them looking into Desmond change things, and what are the chances that he's actually end up signing with them?
Tim Dierkes
1:22
It doesn't change anything, we listed them as a potential match for Desmond before that bit of news. I think most people expected them to be connected to most OFs, aside from maybe Ces.

Will the Cards chase D. Fowler? Or are they out because they are "The Enemy"?
Tim Dierkes
1:23
I think even during the playoffs, Fowler said he'd be willing to consider the Cardinals. Pretty rare that a player spurns a team solely because of a rivalry.

Why is so much of the chatter regarding Fowler on teams other than the Blue Jays? Seems like the perfect fit and they have a lot of money freed up and two spots open in the outfield.
Tim Dierkes
1:24
Steve Adams is picking the Blue Jays for Fowler. I ultimately didn't for two reasons. 1) I feel that Fowler would prefer not to move off CF if he didn't have to and 2) The Blue Jays are rarely the top choice for coveted American-born free agents. J.P. Ricciardi has said as much.

Colorado a fit for Wieters/ramos?
Tim Dierkes
1:24
I could see that. I'm not entirely sure they could afford it, but the fit works.

Does Fowler to Astros make sense? History with the team, need for CF, money is there...
Tim Dierkes
1:25
As a gut feel, I find a return to Houston less likely.
Ryan
1:25
Ian Desmond to O's realistic? Can the O's afford to give him 4/65 ish?
Tim Dierkes
1:25
Absolutely, that match and contract are plausible.

How much did the injury hurt Ramos' stock?
Tim Dierkes
1:26
He lost $40MM+.
Robert
1:26
Better chance of Chapman returning to CHC or Jansen making the move to the north side?
Tim Dierkes
1:27
Man, I wish I knew. My thinking is that the Cubs didn't have Jansen as an option in the summer, but now that they do, he's the preferable pitcher at a similar price. Probably has less performance risk moving forward, and is more flexible on the multiple inning idea.

What would you say is chances Angels sign ,Walker(2B) Hill(SP) and Ramos(C)? I believe with weaver and Wilson contracts off the table it can fit the payroll
Tim Dierkes
1:27
All those guys seem like reasonable Angels fits to me. Ramos gives me pause, though, because if he needs time at DH then Albert needs to play 1B.
Dylan
1:27
I know he isn't a huge name but I expect Jon Jay receive more money and possibly 3 years
Tim Dierkes
1:28
Steve Adams feels the same, so you guys may be on to something.
Victor
1:28
Do you think Yoenis Cespedes would still consider the New York Mets, even with other teams offering more money?
Tim Dierkes
1:28
I could see him taking, say, $5-10MM less to stay. But I'd be surprised by a bigger gap than that.
JKD
1:28
Obviously everyone wants Rich Hill, but I would also add the Nats as a serious option. Allows them to deal Gio (already likely) and still have a LHP, gives them second-ace insurance in case Strasburg goes down again, and while Hill is probably only good for 120-140 IP, so is Joe Ross. Would allow them to bring along Lopez and Giolito more gradually, as well.
Tim Dierkes
1:28
I can buy into that scenario. Hill over Gio could be an upgrade.

I need Starting Pitching, don't I? Why all this talk about Jansen signing here for Huge Money? Should I...???
Tim Dierkes
1:29
For me, mainly that the FA market offers something the Cubs need, a relief ace. It does not offer a good young SP.
Tyler
1:29
Which NL East team is more likely to sign Matt Wieters? Braves or Nationals?
Tim Dierkes
1:29
I like the Braves, who have some money to throw around and the good ol' Georgia connection with him. But the Nats are friendly with Boras...
Dave
1:29
Who's most likely to sign Melancon? Nats or Giants?
Tim Dierkes
1:30
I like the Giants, who seem more likely to go the extra mile.

Where should Desmond go and what contract. I am thinking 4 years Boston.
Tim Dierkes
1:30
I guess the Red Sox could be a dark horse for Desmond if he goes back to 3B.
Well, not back to.

How will Neil Walker do this offseason? Coming off a great year
Tim Dierkes
1:30
My feeling is that his back surgery makes the fourth year difficult, as does the QO.
Jason
1:30
Do the Orioles take another shot at Fowler? Or did last offseason's attempt take that out of the picture?
